  • Now this is a guide that's been a very long time coming.
    This is a video guide for players looking to pick up the Ninja job in Final Fantasy XI. Ninja's probably one of the hardest DPS jobs to grasp... because it's not just a melee DPS, there's a lot more to it than that as you'll find here.
    Is it a good DPS?
    Is it a good tank?
    What can it do and what is it not good at?
    Here's hoping I shed light on all that and more. As usual, comments and critique welcome in the comments section.

    Following some input from the FFXIAH forum, I should make an amendment that the Magic Burst Bonus trait does not contribute towards the 40% cap, but it will still increase your damage nonetheless.

      Couple of questions buddy - are you on Asura, if so throw me a /wave (Tenkage) :D - how did you change the shadow counter!? and - do you have to craft the master ninja tools or do they become available through curio moogle with Rhapsodie completion? Cheers!

      I loved playing this job. Initially it was going to be my main job, but then I realized it was so expensive....I just couldn't do it. So I leveled PLD to 75 (and fell in love), then WAR and THF to 75...then finally NIN....and it was so awesome (and easy since my THF could solo farm just about everything but the UFO Jellyfish in Al'Taieu).

    Wow nice guide! Returning player from 75cap years ago, didn't even hit 75 back then. Just hit 99NIN yesterday. Long way to go by the looks of it! :D Thanks again for guide

    I really like these job guides for explaining all the changes to the jobs that older players don't know about from the 75 era. However, I notice in a lot of your guide videos you use the phrase "Takes quit a bit of know how to pull off". This is a weird thing to say in a "guide" and then give no further explanation on said know how. Perhaps considering a video on a guide to the "takes quit a bit of know how to pull off" would be helpful to the casual players.

    Ninja actually is something I was into when TOAU came out.. Coming back the game now gives a lot more tanking and utility with WS and NIN magic.
    I hope I win the lottery for that new Utsusemi: Ga Katana. Looks amazing!!

    NIN is in a great state with Sortie coming out. I love just going in there solo, although, I end up bringing others along so they can get their sapphires and old cases. I've had a couple people in group surprised at the damage I can put out with Heishi > light > double burst and then going on to level and gear NIN.

    I used to work it out with the RDM and rest of the primary dd’s to let me get jubaku ni on mob and voke before they engage. This really helps with initial spike in enmity.... than hojo and kurayami ..... only in first round.... after that it just straight up attack and voke!!! That was the key back when I left game in 2009! I know there are so many other mechanics now! But I’m sure ninja landing those spells at start will still go a long way in upping his enmity! Especially with the upgraded hands from appolyon or limbus or w/e it was from!

    Hey man thanks for making this guide. Ninja is my favorite job in any ff and this rendition is dope.
    Question though, I see a lot of people mentioning having multiple gearsets; is it possible to just get away with one or two, or even just one set with a few pieces you swap out depending on the situation?

  • @shperax

    Im not sure if it was mentioned but there are 2 pieces of gear you can get that reduce Utsusemi recast time -20%. Very handy gear.

    @SageAtoreis Před 6 lety +1

    Damn you break my plans with every guide you do. I really enjoyed it especially those magic bursts :O
    I have tons of question tho. I will probably work toward nin or rdm. I kinda think they have a lot in common while playing solo, while having different gameplays in group. I hope you dont mind that few questions will cover also rdm.
    1. How reliably you can mb on NIN? Can you actually go and mb nuke stuff like kei when you do it in MB setup or you wont have enough macc to pull it off?
    2. Kinda related to one but not only. Is Nagi something worth pursuing? Enmity +40 seems really great for tanking. AM3 seems to be really good too when you need to equip more tanky equip instead of multiattack stuff. Macc+40 also makes it really good for nuking harder stuff? But then +40 enmity might hurt you actually if you just want to nuke with innin. What you think?
    I will edit this soon for more questions.
    EDIT:
    3. I think a big advantage of RDM is gear sharing (at least for me :P). Can share Amalric+1 with BLU/SCH/BLM, Merlinic with SCH/BLM and Ea with BLM. Can share Aeonic Sword with BLU. NIN cna share some stuff with SAM and MNK, but I don't have any of them, so I would need to invest in Kendatsuba stuff. I was thinking Adhemar +1 from my BLU/DNC/THF would be great for NIN (head and hands), but I don't see those items in your sets.

    • @SplitFinn
      @SplitFinn  Před 6 lety +1

      1. You'll be lucky for a group to let you be the main MB on Kei as a NIN. It may be possible but people wouldn't want to test it.
      2. Nagi is trash. Kikou beats it for melee dps. Kannagi beats it for melee dps. Heishi beats it for melee dps and bursting.
      3. Adhemar works fine but the set I show gets me good results.

    • @SageAtoreis
      @SageAtoreis Před 6 lety +1

      AD1. I live in a little different world than you :) We usually use 18 ppl for Omen (not because we need, but because we have so many), so I was asking more about being one of the several MB jobs :) Essentially what I wanted to ask - is bursting higher lvl enemies possible on NIN (without GEO doing meva down on mob)? Or will I just see a string of hard resists?
      AD2. Understood.
      AD3. Yeah, I was analyzing your set and I understand why it's good, but the difference between your set and Adhemar+1 is that I have Adhemar +1 :D It's mostly about head and hands. I don't see me getting NIN af+3 hands in a long time. Simply because I would need to start NIN first, then wait to get cards and as returning player (I came back December 2018) I have a big line of jobs waiting for cards.

    You don't seem to respond to youtube comments much, but I had so many questions regarding your gear choices.
    One that stands out is on the Blade: Hi, you use full Mummu set, but no Mummu ring, which would provide + 32 Agility and +Crit Rate. Any reason why?
    Also why that belt over a Fotia belt?
    Why do you use a Kentarch over a Windbuffet Belt?
    Why Erudite over Moonbeam Nodowa?
    Why Hachiyo Tekko +3 over Adhemar +1?

    • @SplitFinn
      @SplitFinn  Před 6 lety +2

      Hi - Not sure why honestly. I pretty much only use Hi as a Darkness linker and don't really pay it much mind.
      Ninja really needs Store TP I've found so I've used Kentarch over Windbuffet. Chalk that up to personal choice.
      Erudite has Ranged Accuracy on it, which you need for Daken.
      Daken+10%, plus the massive amount of Accuracy/Ranged Accuracy and Throwing Skill (more Ranged Accuracy) trump the Adhemar unless using Sange.

    I was a blink tank back during the 75 cap era. Nobody could peel mobs off of me because I utilized the elemental wheel with -san (or was it -gai) level ninjutsu. I was highly sought for by the Japanese community on my server (Shiva if I remember correctly) for raids that needed a ninja tank. Damn I miss those days, this game was absolutely epic

  • @SageAtoreis
    @SageAtoreis Před 6 lety

    What's really interesting for me is why you think TP and WSD has such impact on NIN's hybrid WSes. Aren't multiattack is what really boost the damage (beside MAB)?
    Keep in mind I will only use logic for below statement, not personal experience.
    Let's take Chi as an example. It's fTP is 0.5|0.75|1.0 at 1000|2000|3000TP.
    It's a 2hit WS and I haven't seen anything suggesting, that it has fTP transfer, which means the majority of it's damage doesn't actually come from main hit, but 2nd hit and subhand hit.
    At 1000TP without TP bonus, it should be 0.5 from main hit, 1.0 from 2nd hit and 1.0 from sub hand hit. That puts Chi at 2.5 fTP.
    Since Weapon Skill damage only works from main hit, it shouldn't play a major role here. TP level shouldn't play a major role too, because it will only push Chi from 2.5 to 3.0 with 2000 more TP.
    Multi attack proc on the other hand should increase the damage significantly. Even single double attack should add 40% damage at 1000TP and with some crazy luck on double triple attack proc, you should see a 160% increased in damage at 1000TP.
    Shouldn't then DA/TA be a priority (alongside the acc/att and mab) instead of WSD and TP bonus?

      Ninja (especially as a sub) isn't really meant for tanking multiple enemies. It's more for things with nasty added effects on physical attacks, like added effect doom or something cheesy like that.
