  • Another month, another job guide!
Corsair was actually the first job I ever got to Lv.75 back in the day, seriously. I remember having to farm Zinc Orc and levelling Alchemy to craft Firesand to make Bullets for it. I even remember pulling in Merit Point parties (member dose?) with a Peacemaker.
Let me tell you that the job is a lot different to what it was back during Treasures of Aht Urghan. Where does it stand now? How does it play? What use is it?
Lend me your ears and eyes and let me tell you...

To clarify, because a few people in-game have sent me tells asking how I came to the 'Chaos Roll can surpass Idris Indi-Fury' conclusion here is my math.
Chaos Roll (IV rolled with Regal Necklace, Crooked Cards and Dark Knight bonus)
67.92% Attack Bonus (67% because SE rounds down).
Chaos Roll (XI rolled with Regal Necklace, Crooked Cards and Dark Knight bonus)
75.42% Attack Bonus (75% because SE rounds down).
Indi-Fury with 900 combined Handbell/Geomancy Skill and Idris.
61.7% Attack Bonus (61% because SE rounds down).
Geomancers do not use Blade of Glory or Ecliptic Attrition with Geo-Fury as Geo-Frailty will give a much greater return.

The idea of the cor, master of risk vs reward, being in close for optimal ranged and melee damage fits completely in line with the jobs whole reliance on luck and skill. I honestly think it was done on purpose.
A true gamblers life, risking their own life for top damage.

Nice To see a corsair guide ! It's pretty Good. Just have something To say :
    - I'm not sure wildcard can be reset by Another party member wildcard. Gonna recheck it soon.
    - Yeah cor can die easily but, if your main issue, as solo, is aoe killing you fast. You have defensive rolls that can help, mostly runeist roll and magus roll. For example : Doing damage To naphula isn't really hard, the main issue is that it can one shot you if you have only offensive rolls. With magus and runeist, you never die and can kill it easily.
Just wanted To say that rolls can fullfil most of lacks.
    - and To finish, you didn't talk about savage blade, which is a really Good ws with the tp bonus gun.
But anyway, great guide. I like all your videos

In hindsight I regret not doing more on Savage Blade.
I don't have the TP Bonus gun so I'm not best suited to comment on it I thought.

Great information dude. You made me actually want to try Corsair (which I swore up and down I'd never touch cause it's confusing af)
Very clear guide showing its strengths and weaknesses

    Hey,
I just wanted to say, I don't actually play but I love to watch your videos. They are super great, informative, and as someone who used to play, have a great deal of nostalgia! Do you plan on doing job guides for every job? Just curious. Keep up the great work.
    Thanks again.

Great! Thanks! This was really informative. Have a lot down already but hearing specifics was nice. The melee/ranged distance info was new to me. Looking forward to more tips from the comments.

I’m wondering if there’s any clarification I can get w mains/subs. Have a few that all seem good but not sure when each is best. FetteringBlade, HepatizonRap+1, Kustawi+1, BlurredKnife+1 and then that NuskuShield...

Along with Dragoon and Puppetmaster, Corsair was the job I most wanted to unlock back in the day. Alas I was only able to get to about level 18 on my little Mithra Warrior before I let the game beat me. =(

R1PFake you should check out the guide he mentioned is in the description
But to answer the question, it's both (duel wielding) or depending on the situation

    • @SplitFinn
      @SplitFinn  Před 6 lety +1

Both work as well as the other. The difference is if you use a dagger you lose Savage Blade but gain Aeolian Edge and a little more accuracy. Extenterator covers Fragmentation

I'd come back to the game just to play with you. It is extremely unfortunate, though, that you're on Asura. The one server I vowed never to play on.
However, if you ever move elsewhere to another server, I'd be happy to come back to the game. I enjoy your guides and counsel.

    • @SplitFinn

Asura's a handful for sure, but it is still a handful compared to what some of the other servers are like.
