    Amazing tutorial! I’ve really been wanting to try this soon so this’ll help a ton. Just had a few initial questions. 1. Why do you have to separate the original vampiric tutor front and back and then I think you like sanded a new piece of cardstock in between them? 2. Would it not be easier to just use a non-foil old border card since the foil disappears after taking off the adhesive? I guess technically you wouldn’t have the shooting star, but would it be okay in theory to use a non-foil old border if you didn’t care about the star. 3. Do you think the new modern horizons 2 retro frame foils would work as the card to donate the foil border? 4. Is there any way you can list the tools and sprays you used so it’s easier to make a checklist of what to get? 5. So on the step where you take the modern blank foil sheet and put it on the tutor, which side is the plastic side vs the foil side? Like is the plastic side the original front of the card? And then that plastic side is what goes against the face of the tutor correct? Also in that step, when you acetone away the actual foil layer how worried are you about accidentally messing up the art of like the tutor, does that happen often? I know my questions may be a lot but if you are able to answer them, I’d really appreciate the advice. Again thanks for the amazing tutorial!!

    This seems like a really hard way of doing it, but the final product is breathtaking.

    ive seen this exact video, but you can also put the tutor in water, and seperate the 2 layers like that, i believe.

    Hey! Thanks for the video. Couldn't you just put the onslaught foil peel directly on top of the vampiric tutor (instead of peeling it too + an other foil card)?

      When I didn't understand how to keep the foil backing on the old-frame cards, this was the best solution I could come up with. I actually just published a video showcasing my updated method which uses only the old foil layer since I've figured out how to keep the foil on the plastic film now :D

    would there be a benifit of peeling the back off the final card(to get less tears and bends) and then using the back of say a common to get smoother surfaces aswell? I hope this makes sense like it does in my head.

    • @kyleblankenship6647
      @kyleblankenship6647  Před 4 lety +1

      While this is possible, that process is called rebacking and is a big no-no in the Magic world. People do that the try to sell expensive cards that were worn out and call them near mint again.

      @@kyleblankenship6647 bro you are literally tearing cards in half and gluing them together. How tf is that not a huge no-no for collectors hahaha

    • @kyleblankenship6647
      @kyleblankenship6647  Před 2 lety

      @@MsChodezilla for most people, this would not be something that they would be interested in. For my clients who decided to go with these types of alters, they are more interested in having a completely foil deck above everything else.
      Since the release of this video, I have continued to experiment with the process and have now found that it can be done with a single foil layer, rather than two. This eliminates the need to separate and thin the original card for the process. Much cleaner now :)

    • @rogueabomination7081
      @rogueabomination7081 Před 2 lety +1

      @@kyleblankenship6647 do you have a video of this? Also while using an exacto to remove the ink off an old card it seems like it might be scratching the lair of the card. Is this proper or am I using too much pressure?

    • @kyleblankenship6647
      @kyleblankenship6647  Před 2 lety +3

      @@rogueabomination7081 you will end up with scuff marks all across the area that you scrape with the blade. These scuff marks will be filled in/hidden when you paint over them or apply the acrylic varnish spray at the end of the process. Too much pressure, the wrong angle, or a dull blade can damage the plastic film. If you are using onslaught block foils, they have extremely thin foil layers and it is much easier to damage them when scraping.
      I’m in the process of making an updated video that addresses some of the issues with the previous method and it should be published by the end of December :)
