As long as you can get seay with it. Each jurisdiction has rules about how high you can have a fence/hedge without a permit. Usually, it's 6' in the back yard.
Wish I had a front yard but unfortunately my house is stuck to the sidewalk. I have to worry about trucks parking on the sidewalk where police could be involved or shady crackheads littering.
