  • How to Block Out Neighbours View? Cheap Ways to Block Neighbors View - Screening Neighbours Out - How to Block Out Neighbours View of My Yard? how to block out neighbours view from upstairs?
If you're looking to block out your neighbor's view, there are several methods you can consider. Here are a few options:
Privacy Fencing: Install a privacy fence between your properties. Choose a tall fence with solid panels or overlapping boards to obstruct the view. Popular materials for privacy fences include wood, vinyl, or composite.
Plant a Privacy Screen: Create a natural barrier by planting tall bushes, trees, or shrubs along the property line. Evergreen trees or fast-growing plants can provide year-round coverage and block the view effectively.
Trellis or Lattice Panels: Install trellises or lattice panels on your property and grow climbing plants such as ivy, jasmine, or clematis. These plants will gradually cover the panels and create a visually appealing barrier.
Outdoor Screens: Purchase outdoor screens or privacy panels specifically designed to block the view. These screens are available in various materials and designs, such as bamboo, metal, or fabric. Place them strategically on your patio or balcony to create a secluded space.
Window Treatments: If the concern is about your neighbor being able to see into your home, consider installing blinds, curtains, or window films. These options allow you to control the level of privacy without blocking natural light completely.
Pergolas or Gazebos: Build a pergola or gazebo in your backyard to create a designated outdoor space that is shielded from view. You can hang curtains or install retractable screens for additional privacy.
Water Features or Fountains: Install a water feature, such as a fountain or a pond, in your yard. The sound and movement of water can provide both visual and auditory privacy, distracting from the neighboring view.
Remember to check local regulations and obtain any necessary permits before making changes to your property. Additionally, it is always a good idea to have open and respectful communication with your neighbors about any concerns you may have to maintain a positive neighborhood relationship.

How are these things cheap??? Even a shrub costs lots of money? Wood??? Won't even mention...really costly .... Unless you get the material or labor for free than I would state "it is inexpensive!!!

I especially enjoyed the recommendation of a stone wall topped with fencing! I can’t imagine how expensive that would be. Beautiful but not ever in my budget!

A fence between neighbours is a good thing. Privacy is important - our garden is an extentinon to our homes. I'm looking for ideas to put something on my block paving as it is too wide - neighbours think it's free parking!!!!

This comment made my day - perhaps my whole year. This is me, I swear. I have never been so miffed by how uncommon consideration is for your neighbor(s)!! It makes me crazy. We have a fairly large lot (almost 2 acres), but THE ENTIRE LOT butts up against all of our neighbors' back yards - so it's surrounded. I film the shizat they do because when I tell people about it, they don't believe me. LOL! This year will be the year I'm doing something about it (legally). We're actively putting up a fence around the whole property. I didn't mean for this to be such a Iong comment, but I feel your pain.
      Happy New Year! Stay sane.

I hear you! No problem at all glad I'm not alone!-What's wrong with these people?! Their lives must be extremely boring. You cant tell me it's just a coincidence that this person is going out at 6:45 am just like I am. It's so freaking obvious what shes doing. Had enough.
Another good thing is to put up signs that say 'smile, your on camera!' Even if not they'll think twice about whatever they're up to. Good luck and Happy new year to you as well!

@@macadoo2530. You must be single! Just teasing. I know how irritating it is to be in your situation. We had over an acre and our next door neighbor was the same way. We used shrubs and trees to screen the yard on his side.

I would like to do a covered patio or a tall screen with flowers, but I am wondering if the HOA will mess with it, because it will be visible from the street; maybe one or 2 trees will do the trick.

There are a few ideas in CZcams videos. The quickest is with fabric type screening that is stretched between posts. It still costs money but is cheaper than most. HOAs are a real problem. You need to make sure that what you want is permitted.

Your best bet is a fast growing evergreen tree. Leyland cypress, hollies and arborvitaes are very fast growing- it will probably take 5 years or more to block the window depending on the growing conditions. Most bamboos are evergreen but I would never plant any bamboo in the ground, only in containers. It doesn’t matter what is claimed, bamboo is invasive. An indoor shade is a much quicker alternative!

Gazebo with privacy curtains, patio cover, umbrellas are another option of having privacy in your yard but if you want to block their windows yeah probably gonna have to plant something and let it grow
