#05 | Queenstown to the Wild West & Sandy Cape - WEST COAST TASMANIA

- wewillroam.com | From the lunar landscapes of Queenstown to the remote beach track of Sandy Cape, we close out two months in Tasmania on the west coast. Starting in at Russell Falls in Mount Field National Park, we wound our way across to the coast before heading north. Mount Huxley track caught us by surprise, before we picked up Macquarie Heads in Strahan, Montezuma Falls, Climes and Top Farm Track, Arthur River, Stanley and the northern coastline beyond. 6715km later, the Troopy had officially circumnavigated Tasmania overland.

Cheers Shane, really appreciate that! :)
Thank you guys! It was, as always, a pleasure!
Cheers Florian! 😄
The West Coast of Tasmania is amazing. Its so picturesque and relax with so much to do. I have visited Queenstown on many occasions as there is always something hidden we have missed. I love the snow capped mountains in winter and mild summers they have..... so jealous, maybe its time I moved.
Had a great time reliving my West Coast trip through this video. Thank you
Watched it again because it's a great video and Tasmania is beautiful.
I'm impressed by your optimism of going to western Tassie and hoping to be warm or dry at any time of year. But that's what I love about the place, the cool, wet climate and rugged glaciated terrain.
Yes, wishful thinking I reckon! The West was by far our favourite area in Tas, even with the changeable weather 😄
phenomenal stuff.
Quality not quantity. Thanks again. See you when we see you 😀
Another great video looking forward to the next one.
Thanks Phillip! 😄
Incredible footage, editing, and audio. Can’t wait for the next video.
Cheers James 👍
Beautiful video. This is where I live and work. Got stuck here several years ago as I was backpacking from the UK. :-)

Wish you guys posted more videos! Love them :D
Thanks Georgiana! We've had a bit of an extended break recently, hopefully we will be posting more frequently over the coming months :)
Hey guys, what was that app on thew tablet for tracking your journey ? Hema ?
Brilliant video it inspires me to travel more before I’m to old just need more time and money
great edit!! very well done :D just wondering how you do your time lapse videoing where it moves from one side to the other?
Thanks Matthew! We use a device called a Syrp Genie for our timelapse shots 👍
Hey guys, another great vid, I was hoping to spot you when you come through Smithton way but sadly I missed you 😢 what was the map screen then shows near the end of this vid? Under the gps device. Cheers, hope you go on another adventure soon 👌🏼 p.s. I used to work at the MT Lyell mine in Queenstown, 99 bends road is great to drive isn’t it?
Thank you Peter! The map screen is Gaia GPS on an Ipad, its what we use to track our movements and place we go :) the 99 bend road was incredible, we loved driving into Queenstown!
Your videos are beautifully cinematic but sadly lacking in any information about what or where we are looking at.
Great video guys. I’ve really enjoyed the Tasmania uploads. We are heading there is April. What did you think of Stanley and The Nut? We are 50/50 on heading there and doubling back to Launceston. We will mainly be sticking to the East Coast as we only have 2 weeks.
Thanks Ben! Stanley is small, quaint and beautiful on a sunny day. If you have a gap at the end then we would recommend it, but it would be a 3 hour+ round trip just from Devonport. Its a tough onr as there is so much to do on the east coast as well, so depends if you want to maximise your time there or not 😊 you can always do another Tas trip at some point and cover the West/North West areas perhaps.
We Will Roam thanks heaps. I think I’ll just stick to the East Coast for this trip 🤙🏼
Loving the vids, in particular Tassie.
Quick question.
Is that a howling moon awning?
If so, how do you find it?
Thanks for sharing
Cheers Mick
Cheers Mick! It’s an Ostrich Wing Awning and we love it. Not had any issues at all.
Amazing! Very well done!
Where did you rent the kayaks? The campspot looks amazing! Would be awesome to know, we will visit tasmania next year :)
Absolutely love the editing and the smoothness. I’m from Melbourne aswell and am looking at getting a 4x4. Only criticism I could give you (hopefully constructive) is I wish that you had a regular upload pattern, like once a month and even if that meant we would only be seeing what happened 3 months ago in the most recent episode at least it would give you time to relax while also editing and going off the grid for weeks at a time before needing a connection to the internet
Cheers mate really appreciate it! You're spot on with the feedback, we'd like to get to a stage where we are uploading twice a month, that's the plan anyway 👍good luck with the 4wd search..... can highly recommend a Troopy haha 😎
We Will Roam love it
So good, loved the drone footage 👌🏽 I think I want to sell everything and buy a troopy
Cheers Alastair! Well I mean we are definitely advocates of selling everything and leaving in a Troopy sooo 😉
🐻 瀑布旁边建一间房子 !!!
in Russia they also look at you. how to find your music?
Going to Tas this winter to the West Coast. Dont know if I'm stupid or brave yet. Either way after watching you guys I just have to see it.
Very brave....! I think we would love to experience a winter there too one day, it would be another level of moody, misty, rainy and very beautiful I'm sure 😄
