Peter Sellers was Clouseau. Any others who try are merely acting and trying to be him and in the case of Steve Martin doing it poorly. Roberto Benigni was horrible too.
It's hilarious that Cato's attacks are supposed to keep the Inspector 'fluid in martial arts' when it's perfectly clear that neither of them can hit the broad side of a lorry.
This was the first movie I ever saw that made me laugh so hard that I was literally in physical pain the next day from having a sore stomach, especially
My Dad took me and a friend to see it in the theater and we were laughing so hard, we nearly fell out of our seats!! He and I watched it again six months ago and we were still laughing as hard!!! What a classic!!!!
Absolutely timeless. I died laughing for it as a kid 40+ years ago and it's just as funny today. The undercranking of Clouseau/Kato showing off their weaponry going immediately into Kato's slow-motion yell at Clouseau and ensuing howl of pain is peak slapstick comedy editing.

This is among the funniest scenes in movie history. And I am not exaggerating.
I remember my brother and I as kids laughing until we cried at this scene. Fantastic series, fantastic movie.
This is THE BEST USE of slow-motion EVER! Even The Matrix can't compete with this! 🤣😂🤣
This is one of the funniest scenes in movie history. Period.
No matter how much time passes, this scene remains forever hilarious 🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂
Dreyfus' little grunt at the end of the slo mo fall.. gold.
Herbert Lom hanging from the ceiling by his finger might be the single funniest thing ever to grace the big screen.
Absolute GOLD. This will never not be hilarious. The slowed down stuff has me in tears.

Doesn't matter how many times i watch these Closeau vs Cato fights, they always make my laughing muscles hurt, just absolute comedy gold!
Katos slow mo staff run into the television set is priceless!🤣🤣

The noise when the nunchuk breaks on Cato's neck at
My Dad served in Vietnam. Struggled a lot with it when I was kid but these movies always made him howl with laughter. They were like therapy for him.
Kwouk and Sellers are trashing heaven's most precious artifacts in an epic fight now!

I just love this scene!
The nunchuck impact and accompanying sound effect at 1:02 is just brutal.
