- Using Samsung Smart Tags to keep up with my equipment. I am very impressed with how well these have worked so far considering they do not have GPS located built in.

FINALLY - someone who explains how it works in a practical way. Thank you for this!
Thank you!
Yeah it's pretty ridiculous huh..
OMG! When I left Ft. Bragg to Alaska back in 1992 my transmission blew in Sayer. I drove around town with 2 gears. found someone with a VW in their yard. Went to the bank (ATMs) got correct $ to buy. Went back next day after church hours and bought that transmission.
Pulled my VW engine and trans at the rest stop. Dogs and kids played and had lunch. Drove to Alaska no problems. I just love that tiny town. The people there were very nice to this Army woman back in 1992.... ;)
Once again Sayer to the rescue. I am adding these to my dogs collars. Great review thank you Mr. Farmer friend ;) 👍
I am going to buy a few for my mothers company vehicles...
Nobody explained how practical is it like you. Thanks
This is the best video review on CZcams, excellent job. It was like listen to a friend tell me about how it works and if I should get one or not. Thank you for spending the time to make the video. I'm ordering some right now.
Thank you, that's kind of how i look at it when i look at the camera... like I'm on video call with friends. I'm glad you liked the video and i hope they work great for you!
I bought one to put in my motorcycle. I live in a big city so I feel comfortable with these smart tags that they will get enough hits/day and it certainly beats having nothing at all! $20 for alittle extra piece of mind is well worth it
That was my thought, Definitely better than nothing. Thank you for your comment
Fantastic practical review. This is what more people need to watch to get a perfect understanding of the Smart Tag.
I initially thought 16 minutes to explain a smart tag was just plain crazy, but I was wrong. Well done your video held my attention for 16:33.
Thank you! That means a lot!
I had this tag for a year now and it's one of the best purchases I've made!!! Extremely accurate and NO SUBSCRIPTION!!!! I bought a second one for my car God for bid it gets stolen, I have some sort of an idea of where it is
That is the best demonstration of how these tags work that I have seen, after watching a lot of videos
Thank you!
Best review of these tags I've seen! Buying some now. Thank you for this!!!
The review that everyone needed. Thank you!
Thanks for your service man, owe you a beer, need this for my tools that got stolen a week ago, now I'm scared my girl put one in my truck, thanks !!!
Great actual demonstration. Thank you!
Best video on these I've ever seen! Thanks so much!
Thanks for the review....just what I've been looking for. Appreciate ya!
Thank you!
Thanks for the info! I'm setting my tags up now.
Great test! I like mine and just now ordered a second one.
Dude, great review. Thank you.
Exactly the video I was looking for thanks. Going to put one inside the fairings on my motorbike in Thailand as Samsung is common out there. Thanks
Thank you so much for sharing as even the Samsung personnel I contacted today, cant answer my question but luckly you did. Take care be safe. Cheers.
Thank you for the comment. I'm glad the video helped
Thats pretty cool! You should periodically make Mr Tennessee's "ding" just to see if he goes batty trying to find the noise!
Dang 😂
This made me laugh! LOL!
I didn't think about it, 🤣
Thank you for the nice review my man. Will buy couple the these for me.
So they do work! Nice! Excellent video
Thank you, Mr. Farmer! A great explanation!
Thank you!
Pretty cool. Thanks for the awesome presentation.
Thank you!
Wow I ordered my 4 for $100. You had a great deal.
Dang, I wish I'd ordered more
Thanks for the good review.
Thank you, your review was fantastic
Another great review. I was wondering about these things. Like you said for $20 it’s cheap insurance and peace of mind.
Thank you! They're doing great so far
I just ordered one, i haven't received it and im gonna order a 4 pack! Thanks for the video
Good job 🤝
Thanks, so practical🙏🏻
Good video. I will get a couple of these. I just had a piece of equipment stolen and had I had one installed it would be here now, Im sure. So its a good investment, as you say.
Very cool, Man. Many thanks!! ✌🏻🍻
Thank you
I want to put this into my brother's car. Just to see where he goes to during the day 😆.
Thank you very much, great video
Thank you
Great video thanks just got mine
I hope it works good for you.i still like mine
You do have the most interesting toys!
Thank you!
Great review thank you!*
Thank you!
Let's just hope Samsung doesn't implement unknown tag detection or these will be useless to track thieves. Apple and tile have already implemented the feature making them useless as anti theft devices
I just bought some and there's a feature to detect unknown tags. Shitty. So much for that great idea.
Thank you Mr Farmer from the UK, really good explanation. I've bought 3 for our suitcases for when we go to Canada, so Ill be interested to see if they track from UK to there & cases don't get lost in transit!!!
I would be curious about that myself
I'll try to remember to let you know.
Go to your app in settings and go to smart things and turn on permissions and allow to run without being blocked when not used... and also allow audible notications
Nice!
Good video I forgot all about that until this video just come out 😂
Lol, i didn't think about it until today
@@CFarmer 😂
Dang ..... I was hoping you didn't see the video. I just commented to him to "ding" it
@@promedic92 😂
Impressive and scary at the same time..."I always feel like somebody's watching meeeee"....Good idea to keep track of high ticket items that could take a walk.
Where i live i haven't had any trouble but it's always on my mind when I'm out on the road
Great review bud
Thank you!
Money well spent - nice video 👍
Thank you!
Thank you!! The only video that shows how they ACTUALLY work. Going to buy some to find stolen equipment, not just keys that you lose inside your house(of course it works inside your house you are on wifi!). The fact that it pings other cell phones is incredible, i heard the range is about 100 yards which is insane, i also heard that it doesnt just ping Samsung phones but iPhones too which is the best part as here in the US its about 70% iphone users so basically anywhere you go it will get pinged! Loved how it was pinging your friend down the highway many times that was super cool cant wait to buy some.
Thank you for your comment, I've his those in certian places. Thinking I'm going to order 4 more
It doesnt work with a wifi hotspot the Tag uses a BLE channel to interact with compatible devices.. it doesnt work with iphones those use their own protocol.
What happens when your home with your trailer in the yard? Or towing the trailer with the smart tag in it, will it just constantly ping off your phone killing the battery in the smart tag?
I wish you could turn them off until you need them or at least not allow it to ping off your phone.
Boutta buy this nd put in my girls bag
Excellent video and explanation. Comparable to Apple's AirTag, yes both have Bluetooth. From there all reviews of the Samsung SmartTag place it as a much better device than AirTag. Many reasons why it is better, you stated it has a button for finding the misplaced phone, the button can be programed for operating other SmartThings, has a lanyard hole thus do not have to purchase a holder, SmartTag Bluetooth range is much more, SmartTag sound is much louder. AirTag is good for Apple devices, but it is not equal to Samsung SmartTag.
I have never used the air tag but I really like my smart tags
Samsung tracks using other people's Samsung phones that have smartthings app running on their phone within 130yds of the smart tag to signal back to Samsung servers.
Hi hello brother, may I ask a question from you? I need to know, for example when I use this smart tag, and Samsung phone actually search for people also use ANY Samsung phone, or that, my smart tag will ONLY search for people using the SAME model phone as me, in order for this smart tag to work?
Or do you mean, Samsung will need other people who also NEED to have note 20 Ultra+smart tag, in order for my smart tag borrow their note 20 ultra + smart tag's signal to make my smart tag send back the signal back to my note 20 ultra?
It will use Samsung phones with smart things running. I hardly ever open the smart things app unless I'm checking location of the tags but the get quite a few hits. I read somewhere that smart things has to be running but i have a hard time believing that many people are in range with the app open. Either way I'm still impressed with the location updates
Best of my knowledge any device Wirth the smart things app installed and ruining. It doesn't have to be the same model phone that you have
If you put this on a e bike and its stolen will it tell you where the bike is? Or just the general areas its at?
Do you need a monthly subsciption for it to work like this
You should make a test: if it is tossed beside the road between the cities, how long will it take to be spotted. I had lost my Galaxy Tab beside a road and it was spotted when a car stopped nearby by coincidence. It took several hours.
I have one on my Gooseneck trailer parked about 75 ft from the road i live on. It gets about 5-8 hits a day depending on traffic.
I bought 1 to store on my ATV cause there's been alot of thefts where I live hope this helps
That's where i put one of mine
I said i would come back and let you know how I got on using the Tags for Canada. Well I have used them in Australia/Malaysia & Canada since my original post. The all did exactly as I had hoped, All let me know where they were at the airport leaving and as soon as I arrived in the above 3 countries they all showed up on my phone. Each carousel I waited at for the bags showed as in the various airports (thank God) and each time as I waited they came up as 'Near You' and within a minute all appeared on the carousel in front of me. So bottom line is they work and I will be using them again fairly soon. Now all I have to do is delete them from my old phone and reset them in order to add them to SmartThings in my new Samsung - fingers crossed with that.
can the smart tags actually give the pinpoint location, I was thinking of putting one in car just in case
I thought these have gps built in them so how exactly do they work? Great video I enjoy this my e scooter got stolen but I’m ordering these soon so the next time I’ll get to track it if anything else happens! 👍🏻😎
They connect to nearby samsung devices long enough to transmit their location. If there's no other devices around they don't work. The more traffic and populated areas the more devices they will use to transmit their location
They use Bluetooth low latance
@@CFarmer
Can the device be on silent so that the person dont know that I am close to find it
Yes, the only time it'll make sound is if you play sound too help locate the tag
Are these the regular smart tag or are they smart tag Plus? Great video by the way.
No one has replied and I just came across this video. Although he states they may be the SmartTag + on 2:00, they are the regular ones. Between 0:17 - 0:24 he displays the box of the regular Galaxy SmartTag.
Travelling from Amsterdam to Athens next week.. European airports are a nightmare at the moment. Just got one of these Samsung tags to put in my suitcase. Hope it works. What do you reckon? Dumb idea? gps trackers are way expensive and need some sort of membership.
I think it's a really good idea and should work great. I'm curious so please let me know how it does
@@CFarmer sure will do!
How did it go?!
So you dont have to have a Galaxy smart phone to use it, just Android? Do you know what the oldest bluetooth version; and what oldest Android operation system will work with the Samsung tag? And no sunbscription is necessary, right?
Ok, the Tag is spotted by nearby devices... But will this still work if they were older Samsung smartphones running an older version of Android and don't have the Smart Things app on them? I mean sure, there are plenty of Samsung users out there but a llt of them still use 5 years old models and don't bother using the Smart Things app. Will they still help you find the Tag?
Hi Super Labine: as with all like tags such as Samsung Smart Tag, Apple Air Tag, Tile, and the like, to receive a ping (connection) the phone must have vendor-specific software installed. If not, the respective tag does not have anything to connect to. Hope this helps you.
Good review! Does this item need cell signal or wifi to function and show me where my bag is? When traveling outside North America, I often turn off the cell signal and am a couple hours between wifi connections.
It will need to be close to a Samsung device with smart things installed to the best of my knowledge
No, the Tag does not need cell connectivity, for pinging a Samsung phone it uses Bluetooth. For transmitting the ping information to the owner of the Tag the cellphone receiving the ping does need cell connectivity. Then the Samsung phone transmits its location where it received the ping to the owner of the Tag; the owner could be anywhere in the world. The owner of the Samsung phone receiving the ping does not have to do anything, nor are they aware they have been pinged. Also, important none of pinged user's information is transmitted, the location of the ping gets transmitted only.
Hope this helps you and others as well.
👍
But what if I misplace my phone or keys at the same time, or can't remember what I walked into the kitchen to do just now 😳🤣
I'm still working on that one but keep losing my thoughts
@@CFarmer haha
If you have a Galaxy Tablet it can interact with the device even if it is not connected to cellular network.
Is there an option on samsung phones from where one can toggle on or off the ability for nearby smart tags to send the location? Or do you only need an active internet connection on a samsung phone(Wi-Fi or mobile network) for it to detect a smart tag location?
To the best of my knowledge there isn't. If the tag gets close to another Samsung device with the smart things app installed i believe it seems location
Cool video. IS THAT A BABY BIRD ON THE BACK OF YOUR TRUCK.
It was, i didn't notice until after the video. It had fallen out of a tree
@@CFarmer did you put it back in the tree?
I didn't want to touch it and it's momma smell me on it
@@CFarmer good excuse 🤣🤣🤣
Yep!
So if someone steals your trailer and has a Samsung phone.... Will they get a notification on there phone of a tag stalking them since they are by it for a while and it not being registered to them? Apple AIrTags will do this. So it sucks for tracking stolen equipment if they have an apple phone.
My neigbors all have samsung devices and are close to my tags and they've never gotten any notification. When my neigbor borrowed my Gooseneck it was pretty much like real time tracking and he never knew it. I've never used an air tag
Thank you for this. This is the answer I've been looking for
My smart tag doesnt update me at all. And doesnt refresh since i changed the battery. What to do?
There is an oddity in your video. What's up with the bird flopping around over your left shoulder in the first 3+ minutes of the video? It appears to be on your truck bed cover. Strange, very strange indeed.
Great video also. I'm looking to place one of these on my 2-man ladder deer stand. Had a $300 stand & $300 trail cam stolen by the same perps last year. Both items were in close proximity of each other. I'll be better prepared next time. Hopefully I'll be able to show up on their door-step with the Conservation officer.
I didn't notice the bird was there until i had finished and uploaded the video but i did make sure it was off the truck before i left.
I think it would work great for that.
Apparently Samsung makes these out of gold now, since a 4 pack is currently going for around $200.00.
i was trying to use a smart tag a escooter tracker but i wouldnt work once it left the phones 120 tard radius anyone know what i was doing wrong?
Is there a way to "turn off" the smart tag to save some battery life?
Not that i know of, but i haven't looked into turning the power off, so I'm not sure on that one
I attached a smarttag on my cat's collar. I got a few weird location lately.putting him 2.8 miles away from the house. Thing is, he was in the house at the time. How is that possible
What samsung phone do you have and how do you like it?
I have the note 20 ultra. I love it. Dead having to upgrade when something happens to it
Can you please tell me the range of the smart tag
To the best of my understanding the range is 120 meters (around 390 feet). The tag will need to be close enough to another samsung device that it can send its location to you through the smart things app
Samsung is perfect if you Want to better of smart tag get the plus one
I put mine in a package that gets returned to me, I've seen it pinged when it was going down a railroad track via ups
That's pretty cool
Do the tags require charging or batteries and if so how long does it last. Thanks
From what I've seen there is no way to charge and battery supposedly lasts up to 2 years but I'll let you know
@@CFarmer thanks
@DanBacn the Samsung tag uses a 2032 battery and lasts about 6 months.
That's good to know. I was hoping for a year but I'm still ok with that
@@CFarmer a 2032 battery is the flat battery similar to the one used in weight scales. When the battery dies, you can replace it with another battery. I got my battery from Dollartree.
Thanks for the review. Does anyone thinks that i can put one on my fat bike? I would love to have the possibility to find it it's stolen.
Thank you! I have one on my gooseneck trailer, my car and 4 wheeler and my keys to my pickup. So far so good.
Does Samsung tags notify when an unknown tags is with you like Apple AirTag
I caint say they don't but i haven't noticed if does. I will try to look and see when i get a min
My Smart Tag Plus all off a sudden won't find my phone , however works vice versa. Any suggestions?
Wish i could help. I haven't had that issue yet
Why did you not get the plus version
In all honesty i didn't know about them until after i ordered these. I plan on buying 4 of the plus version next
I did this to my f250
This can also be used in your luggage correct? I've been reading a few reviews
I would think it would be really good for luggage
@@CFarmer Great! My daughter is traveling overseas soon & she needs to be able to keep up w/her luggage. I just forwarded this video to her. You give a great example on how the tracker works.
Thank you! I wish i knew more about how they would work overseas but i would think as long as they're close to samsung devices they would work. If you try them please let me know how they work for you
@@CFarmer OK I will. Especially with these airlines losing luggage
No you can’t use with luggage. You can attach it to many things but not luggage Sorry.
I put them inside my power tools and tractor to keep track on them if got stolen
The battery hasn't lasted a month, any reason?
Not sure why the battery wouldn't last but a month. I just checked all 4 of mine and battery still showing good
My question is what if you loose the tracker on your keys and your phone?
There is an option to share devices location with a friend or if you have another Samsung device you can sign into smart things from you should be able to see the location
@@CFarmer ah that's pretty cool will it also work with luggage like if I fly from London to Newyork and then my bag ends up in Paris ect dose it work like that?
I would think so. As long as other samsung devices are nearby for tag to connect to it would send location
Jack Waller: "... loose the tracker..." an all too common spelling mistake. Loose mean something not tight. The word you wanted is lose, as in loss, losing, lost, notice each contains one letter o. Hope this helps you and others.
What if someone steals the trailer and they have an IPHONE, then what?
My buddy had i phone and it was still picking up other Samsung devices
It pings off other Samsung devices while moving if they are close enough
