I can't help but imagine using this to create a double-sided mirror in something like an interrogation room
you can already kinda do that in vanilla i believe, if you make a map above the void (e.g. in the end) and place it in an item frame (e.g. on glass) it'll be transparent but the back will be solid
though in that case it's more suspicious, especially if the observee knows the trick
0:47 This has also been implemented in a lot of other games (actually I think most) and IIRC, by default, GPUs will only render (rasterize) triangles when their vertices are spinning clockwise, but you can disabled that via an OpenGL flag iirc
