I played 221's last 2 seasons with much love. This year I was looking at the 241 but I had an open mind to all three models. Initially the 243 felt amazing and piqued my interest - and then 245 felt great also, but went WAY too far and I didn't want to start tweaking them to fit. Of course the 241 blades were as amazing as the previous iteration. As time went on testing the 243, they were just a bit hot and "weird". The sole was much larger than I was used to and I fell out of love with the feel. Yet again after 4 hours of testing over 3 occasions, the 241 went into my bag. I changed this year to carrying 5-PW, and my 4 iron is a '24 Apex Pro single iron, and a Mizuno Fli-Hi in the 3 iron. My shot dispersion with 241 irons are absolutely immaculate (especially front to back). Distance doesn't' concern me whatsoever. Thanks for the video.
I am about to do the exact same thing but with one small tweak. 5-PW in 241s with the Apex UT 4 Iron 1* weak to 24*.
I’m coming from the Titleist 620 CBs. I also hit the Cobra CB/MB comb, the TM P7MBs, and the T100s and I’m not lying when I say I found the 241s to be one of the easiest and most satisfying clubs I have ever hit, which I was not expecting in a blade. They also could not suit my eye more standing over the ball, just beautiful clubs.
That sounds awesome. At least you can be 100% in your decision after solid testing. :) I have added in the Mizuno Pro Fli-Hi 3 iron too. That thing is a rocket and my go to fairway finder! So good
This sounds awesome too. I would have loved the 241s but with a young family and busy coaching diary, play and practice time is very minimal, so the 245s offered me the performance and forgiveness I need, whilst still kinda looking like a blade. Happy days!
All the best with your new set up
This is my exact struggle right now! Lol. I was all in on the 243 but now considering the 245
I still haven't fully decided. I'm possibly thinking a full set of 245's, due to my limited playing time. That extra bit of performance and forgiveness is enticing!
@@dannymalcolmgolf my goal is to play more. It seems like the 243 get higher and roll less. So I think I'll go 243 because your able to to attack the green better. Just a thought. I get fitted today
@@Ryan_2914 How did your fitting go, Ryan?
@@dannymalcolmgolfgreat! Thanks for asking. It came down to the T150 or the 243. I really wanted the 243. So I stuck with those lol. Can't wait for them to come in. Went with the ping 10k driver smoke 5w and 7w. Then 5-gw 243. Excited!
Very good review of these irons..Thank You....
Thank you so much for the kind words! It's only my second review of golf clubs. I enjoyed filming the video.
Great work Danny. Love a fitting soon
Thanks mate :)
Great video your so happy at the end like they arw your babies
Love it, thanks Ryan! We have actually welcomed a new baby into our family since recording this video too, so really, I have two new babies! :)
Like your review. I’m in a similar boat not playing as much. The 8 & 9 in the 245 are more blade like and if you play the wedge set they too are blade like. I’ve decided on a full set of 245 and also getting the Ping 10k driver. Definitely covered on forgiveness!
I also just got fit for a full set of 245 bending them a bit weak for some added spin. Perfect for me and just a tad bit Zack Johnson just put a full set of 245 in his bag
Thanks Robert. Yes, it sounds like you’re well covered there! I’m still a little undecided on the combo. Such beautiful irons.
Love this, a great idea to add some spin loft. They are lovely irons. I’m still a little undecided @@Fitter4life
I’ve played the 223’s for two years and I just tried the 245’s and visually no difference to me . I can say the 245’s are very soft and perform great for a hollow body iron .
Yeah they are beautiful irons, with tons of performance. And not massively bigger than the previous 223 irons.
Those irons looks amazing P-7 in 241 and 7-3 in 245 would be my choice. I have the 221's and love them!
Would tough to blend these lofts wouldn’t it?
They do look amazing and feel as good as they look. As @pschlick4 said, it would just be very tough to blend the lofts, along with the differenced in COR and the performance in the 245 head vs 241.
I agree
Probably end up with 2x 7 irons 🤷
I haven’t been through a formal fitting yet on these but based on my in store testing so far I’m leaning 5-6 in the 245 and 7-P in the 243. I could probably get away with the 241 in the 9-P but not really sure what I would gain by doing so.
That sounds like a good plan. This was something I was also considering, but as you said, I'm not sure what would be gained by adding the 241's, other than incredible looks and feel with your short irons. I am still considering a full set of 245's.
You should compared the 245 to a 241 6 iron. That would be a far more interesting comparison with matching lofts. That 30 degree 245 is really just a 6 iron with a 7 stamped on it.
Great idea. Thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately, all our fitting heads are 7 irons.
Really enjoyed your review. Playing off a 11-13 HC would you say 245's a good choice?
Thank you for the feedback. I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
I'm still considering the 245's, and they'll likely suit a 11-13 handicap player more than 241 and 243. That being said, it all depends on your own game, and what you're looking for. Are you able to book in to see a Mizuno authorised fitter near you? They'll be able to guide you to a more confident decision.
I am an 11 handicap and just got a full set of the mp245’s and they are awesome
Just curious, your club path is all outside in for the 245 whereas it’s all inside out for the other two clubs. Is that on purpose? Is it your correction for a bigger offset?
Thank you for your feedback. That's a great observation. I certainly wasn't attempting to do anything different.
You have your handicap wrong: the series goes 1-3-5 the 245 is the high handicap club, the 3 is lower handicap players and the 241 is the scratch pro blade..
Hi Deano, just because I'm a pro, doesn't mean the 241s are necessarily for me. Golf is hard enough, I am making it easier for myself with this choice. But yes, you are correct, with the general idea for each model is "typically" suited for the skills levels you mention. Thanks for watching
