One benefit of stronger lofts that I never hear anyone mention is that you can play longer shots with shorter clubs. With shorter clubs being easier to hit than longer ones just by having a shorter shaft, you get the added benefit of easier timing too.
True. I play 225s and get 185 carry with my "7 iron". But I built a bag treating each iron as one iron stronger. My 5 iron is really a 4, my pw is really a 9. I get to wedges and play a 48, 53, and 58. I can make more accurate shots at every distance having the shorter and more controllable shaft than I otherwise would.
Matt, I'm loving the relaxed, conversational, yet informative approach to these reviews. I'm an 18-20ish handicap, playing MP18s just because I love the look and feel, and can get accurate feedback on my strikes from them. Never liked the look of more game improvement irons. These Pro 245s seem like they could be a fantastic middle ground where it's closer to the look of a beautiful Mizuno blade, but the game improvement that I *probably* need given my skill level. Next time I'm in Toronto, I will certainly be looking to book in with you!
Don’t overlook other chunky clubs. I just went from 2014 ap2 to T200 full set. I did a lot of research, even got fit into t100 and they said if I wanted t200 I should blend but went full send on forgiveness. I’ve had zero issues with fliers or holding greens just all good things. The bad shots I’ve had were pull hooks and the outcome would have been the same had I been playing a blade. In the left woods. Also hit low toe, felt like I almost missed the ball and it made it close enough for an easy chip. My old clubs would have left me that awkward 50 yd pitch
I would LOVE to see a video of the 245 8-iron with +1/2" shaft vs the 241 7-iron. Same length, same loft. Would be awesome to compare the numbers of those two.
One note: your ballstriking and the subsequent data you generate is a differentiator for you compared to nearly all other golftube reviewers. I know you prefer shorter, digestible content on this channel, but I think I speak for many when I say that, were you to produce longer content that tests multiple irons (4, P) and/or compare them with other well known models.. 1. Your audience would be thrilled 2. You could grow your channel even more!
Just bought the 245's and in looking for a review I couldn't believe my luck in finding a fellow lefty. Thank you mate...exactly the review I was looking for and I don't think I've ever hit the subscribe button as quickly as I did here!!!
Man ! Matt this testing was impressive 👍🏾. The swing seemed on song with both bladed and hollow clubs, great review so glad you had these in lefty enjoyed it even more 🏌🏾♂️
Glad CZcams's algorithm suggested your channel. Was wondering where "Matty boy" went. Looking forward to more of your content. Liked the video, and subscribed to the channel. Cheers!
Really solid, logical review. The 245 intrigues me the most, especially with the spin numbers you produced with the ball switch. I love remembering my days with the 690MB set in the bag. I just don’t want to relive the feeling in my hands on cold morning mishits with the 241s lol. Great video!
same only reason i'm playing p790's with graphite shafts, cuz i don't want my fun game to hurt. Pretty sure i'm a better player with my Mp-33's with Rifle 6.0's but the pain sometimes is too much. My right elbow ain't in the best shape sometimes.
as a lefty who started golf 3 year ago and is now an 8HC im super excited to try mizzy blades for the first time. I know they wont be the best irons to fit my game but its a mizuno blade... why not try it!
I was wondering why the 243 wasn't compared then realized that its made RH only, interesting that they chose to skip the middle for LH. Great video as always!
I'd love to see a test one day where you take the same length shot and play it with different kind of clubs. I think it is more interesting to see how different sets of clubs perform on the same shot (like an 185 yard tee shot on a par 3) then showing how they do at different distances. When you are on the course the shot distances with irons are typically fixed, so seeing how they do at the same distance is more what you should consider when deciding what to get. My guess is that it would show that this "loft jacking" really isn't a concern and when you are dealing with the same distance you'll wind up with shots of similar heights and maybe even similar spin numbers.
Hi again Matt!! Great video!! Great content! Great visual production!! I hope you are doing well !! I like your honest and upfront reviews!! Your videos are simple and to the point. Yet, easy going and relaxed. You focus on giving reviews of golf equipment, products and wellness are nice and refreshing versus some of the Golf Variety shows or Golf Action movies on CZcams! I don’t need to be entertained by a comedian or clown when I want to learn about golf equipment. You give your viewers your nice, intelligent, honest, sincere opinion and advice in a knowledgeable review of golf equipment with a little bit of friendly humor and fun. Congratulations on the success of your channel and the number of viewers seeking your golf and wellness advice! Two shots of Good bourbon for my friend and I please bartender. Cheers Matt!! Thank you, Joe Lane
Gaming the 223s right now and love them but theses 245s might be interesting in the like 4 and 5 for me maybe even 6 with that launch. Ill have to check them out when possible useful vid Matt.
Nice to see you again Matt !! Great review ! I wonder i it is possible to get the fujikura axiom shaft as an upgrade for these new Mizuno Irons. ? Keep up the good work !!
Love it! Also a good thing to mention as a fitter/fitting, you predominantly hit a draw. I’ve seen some guys come in an out a 6 iron over 8k spin with 30+ degrees dynamic loft. The get so much out of a 235/790 type of spin killer.
I just got a 5-GW set of 245 and got them bent 2* weak. The lofts now match the 243 and are just 2* stronger than the 241. The looks and feel are unmatched compared to any other club that offers this much forgiveness. Even bent I ended up going with an extra wedge, T22 59*, T22 55*, T22 52*, and then MP-245 GW at 50*. Even though there is only 2 degrees difference between the GW and 52* the carry distance is 10-15 yards longer because of the hollow body vs forged.
Great review. Would love to know your opinion on 245 vs. 225. I know the extra tungsten provides more forgiveness, but there’s a significant price difference now so curious how noticeable that is on those mishits.
Really interesting to see the ball comparison! I wish more people would do that. Probably a lot of potential buyers are going to be more typical 80mph speed. It would be great to see how they perform for an "average" speed golfer.
Great video. I desperately want the 245s and may get them in a couple of years when the price comes down a bit. $1,500 just not in the cards for me at the moment.
Muscle backs every day of the week for me I don't need them for distance got my woods for that , looking for precision dialled in . Still using MP 20 MB love them
Really good video, the lighting is great! I'd love for you to dig in a little more into shutting/opening the face in forgiving irons and seeing a more severe yardage distance variation as opposed to blades. Is there a middle ground there for the average golfer, or just take lessons to square that face?
I play a “blade” for the sole interaction and the little to no offset, I’ve tried a few different game improvement irons and I had the same issue with all of them and it’s always the thickness of the sole and the offset. I’m playing the new Mizuno JPX tour irons and man they’re good, remind me of the ping eye 2 beryllium copper set
Same, I'm playing Titleist 620MB at the moment. I actually went into the fitting hoping for a blend of 221 and 223, but Mizuno didn't supply those with my favourite shaft (have used it for years, can't see myself moving away from it). So as a result the 620MB outperformed the Mizuno blend in the fitting. I ended up going with them all the way to 4-iron. Don't regret it, I will accept the odd mishit, but I adore the shape, the lack of offset and the pre-worn leading edge - not to mention the feel.
They look awesome, might take a while to get me out of my i59s but these would be an option. Think the king of blades Luke Donald has gone to these to get some extra pop from his irons!
Hi Matt. Could you please do a comparison of the 245s vs T150, both as is and adjusted to the same loft? Airline recently loss my entire golf bag, so having to rebuild and keen to know how these compare. Thanks
What higher compression ball did you switch to with the 245? I was fitted today and loved them. Only concern is spin rate compared to the 241&243. Currently playing MP33.
I have a question. I’m a fast swinger and I’m training for LD. My swing speed with with 7 iron is 110mph but even when hit flush the ball speed / efficiency is a little lower. Is it because I’m playing blades?
Hi Matt- great content. Is it possible to mix a set 241’s & 245’s or are the lofts, ball speed too dissimilar? 10 handicap, LH golfer, decent iron player but not sure a full set of 241’s up to 5i would be realistic.
Hi Matt. I'm a fellow leftie and considering new irons this year. I had narrowed my choice down to either T200s or P790s. This video added the 245s to my decision making process. I don't know if that's a good thing or not. I'm 68 years old and a 9 handicap. I'm also concerned about the companies that are producing a lot stronger lofts. Seems like I'll spend half the season just figuring out my new distances. Any thoughts? Also, are you a blade man or hollow body? Great channel. Keep up the good work.
245 would definitely be one to test alongside P790 and T200, performance is very good, they look great at address and the sound/feel is soft for a hollow iron. Don't worry too much about the lofts, just make sure the fitter addresses peak height and landing angle with you. You can always weaken the lofts a bit if needed, and/or choose a ball with more spin
Hi there Matt. How are they compared to the hollow body Honma TW-X irons that you guys tested back in 2021. I remember that those irons impressed you both in TXG.
So I'm playing mp 54 which are same loft as 241. I'm not a good golfer but I do hit my 7 about 200 rollout. What would I do if I go to the forgiving but strong lofted 245 launch it 220? How do I gap my clubs at that point?
Hey Matt! love the channel and am debating these irons. I do have similar distance to yours, Im just curious what do you think your carry would be with about 2 degrees weaker loft in the 7 iron? Im currently in the 921 SEL version, however am looking for some forgiveness, love Mizuno.. but I was debating on getting these at 2 degrees weaker from 6 iron to 9 iron down, and then keeping my vokey 46-50-56-60. Do you think the gap would be too big with the hot face of these on the 9 iron (2 degees weak) to a 46 degree vokey pw?
How do the Mizuno 245s compare to the Wilson Dynapower forged? I like how the Mizuno’s look but the Wilson’s are much cheaper and seem to offer stellar performance.
Hey Matt, I’m gonna be gaming the pro 241’s in 6-P. Do you recommend a 4/5 iron in the 245? I can bend the lofts to blend better. Or should I grab the 243 in the set. I’m a decent ball striker but any help in the long irons is a plus. Thank you!
One benefit of stronger lofts that I never hear anyone mention is that you can play longer shots with shorter clubs. With shorter clubs being easier to hit than longer ones just by having a shorter shaft, you get the added benefit of easier timing too.

The 245 is fantastic. I don’t think there’s ever been a time when ordinary golfers have had such a choice of beautiful but reasonably forgiving irons.
But not reasonably priced…
@@jimgavin1726 Nice things cost a lot of money, always have, always will.

the sound is just incredible....you can hear the softness in each strike!
I would LOVE to see a video of the 245 8-iron with +1/2" shaft vs the 241 7-iron. Same length, same loft. Would be awesome to compare the numbers of those two.
Great review! I appreciate your objective approach to equipment reviews. Keep ‘em coming.
Love the review, informal was a nice approach. Excited to try the 245!
Great review Matt, gotta love the lefty options this year from Mizzy!
Very easy to watch, no frills format, like it thanks.
Man, you are really good at what you do. This video was informative and really resonated. Thanks.
Great review Matt. Currently play the 225's and love them, interested to see and try the new ones.

Matt, As always a great video with perfect explanation. Keep the great video's coming.
Matt, superb and very professional review. Elite club and ball speeds. Well done.
That sound on impact is nice.
Excellent video Matt, thank you!

I was looking forward to this day. As much as I love my JPX 923 HMP's, the 245 looks soooo good.
Love the style you filmed these videos in. Great close ups also. If only the actual industry giants realised nobody wants stock photos eh.
awesome info... thanks Matty...
I have no business playing these clubs but they look and sound awesome!
The 245 look amazing

Wanted the 225's from the prior release but wasn't offered in left hand. So glad Mizuno finally offered the 245's this time around!

Easily the best looking swing on CZcams!!
Just picked up a set of MP245. cant wait to shout FORE right while holding them.
I was just fitted for the 245 with a weakened 1 degree loft. They were some of the best clubs I've ever hit.
Great review
You look great brother happy new year belated. Great review
Whenever i get new irons I hope to get a combo set of their cavity back and the hollow body - like 245 for 4-7i and 243 for 8-pw

in a custom build yes, but not directly from Mizuno (or any manufacturer actually, yet)
These 245 irons are unbelievably good. Just upgraded to them.
The sound of the 245 after the ball change.. oh boy!!
MP-20 HMB was nice, i think i'll try out the 245 this year
That 241 sounded damn satisfying. Even out of a phone speaker 👌
Love it! Also a good thing to mention as a fitter/fitting, you predominantly hit a draw. I’ve seen some guys come in an out a 6 iron over 8k spin with 30+ degrees dynamic loft.

Stinging hands was my experience with the MP20 HMBs mishits off the bottom groove. I traded them out for more forgiving PXGs.
Really interesting to see the ball comparison! I wish more people would do that. Probably a lot of potential buyers are going to be more typical 80mph speed. It would be great to see how they perform for an "average" speed golfer.

Hit the blades today, beautiful club
They look awesome, might take a while to get me out of my i59s but these would be an option. Think the king of blades Luke Donald has gone to these to get some extra pop from his irons!
You should rename your channel Golf Logic. Level headed golf content/commentary with superb quality.
Matt can you review the 243? Are you really getting more forginevess with CB forged iron vs the 241? Good content! Keep it up.
Do you have the ability to post the smash factor numbers with the other results displays? I think it provides some useful feedback. Thanks!
Great video as always and your shoes look great! What brand are they?
Adidas
Kinda wish I waited for the 245, got the jpx 923 hmp last year. Don't get me wrong, I like them, but these look special.
Hi Matt. Could you please do a comparison of the 245s vs T150, both as is and adjusted to the same loft? Airline recently loss my entire golf bag, so having to rebuild and keen to know how these compare. Thanks

Hi Matt, great review . Interested to know what ball did you switch to and how would the 245 compare to TM p770. Thanks
PXG ball, 245 is a bit of a larger club and stronger lofts than P770
Love the video! Quick question..which ball did you switch to during the 245 testing?
was either a PXG or a Prov1X can't remember
"Hot Metal Blade"? I always thought "HMB" stood for "Hollow Muscle Back" You really do learn something new everyday 😂
Matt how would these compare to the Srixon ZX7s or 5s?
Matt, another first class review. Are you using standard 61.5 degree lie in that 7iron?
👍 I was yes
Why do you prefer this foresight program over fsx2020 or fsx play? Curious
Can someone explain to me the ball part, a firmer golf ball will spin more? I thought soft compression exquated to more spin?
Could you compare the 245 8-iron to the 241 7-iron, since they're the same loft?
Would you say the 243 sits precisely in the middle of the 241 and 245 or does it lean closer to one of them?
Have you reviewed the T200's yet?
Hi there Matt. How are they compared to the hollow body Honma TW-X irons that you guys tested back in 2021. I remember that those irons impressed you both in TXG.
TW-X are a great hollow iron also, they performed well but I'd have to hit side by side to see the differences
hows the feel? i know its hollow, and i have heard its a louder sound than the 225, any truth
What was the second ball used in the test?
Those two clubs may be the quietest strikes I've ever heard
2º more loft would probably bring the carry back to around 196 or so. You might need to put your Vokey to 45º to have a functional gap
I dont think the short irons have a hot face. They are partial hollow so they are basically muscle backs with some muscle taken off for higher flight.
How do the Mizuno 245s compare to the Wilson Dynapower forged? I like how the Mizuno’s look but the Wilson’s are much cheaper and seem to offer stellar performance.
Does anyone feels that the mizuno 241 is heavier on the toe of the club head comparing to 2023 t100/T150?
Sorry if I missed it, Matt - was the ball switch on the 245 to a pro v1x or the z-star diamond?
was actually to the PXG ball, nice ball and it spins quite a bit
Why the 245 over the Jpx 923 Tour or visa versa
Play MP-32’s. Greatest club ever made IMO. Have a set in amazing shape for their age.
What iron were you hitting there ?
6 iron ?
Hey Matt, I’m gonna be gaming the pro 241’s in 6-P. Do you recommend a 4/5 iron in the 245? I can bend the lofts to blend better. Or should I grab the 243 in the set. I’m a decent ball striker but any help in the long irons is a plus. Thank you!
243 would blend easier in terms of loft, but it depends how much additional forgiveness/ball speed you need
@@GolfLiberty thanks Matt, youre an inspiration!
What ball did u change to?
what dynamic loft did you get with the 241 7 iron?
was around 23º I believe
I'm a left handed player. My handicap is high 14. I'm using the Callaway Mavrik club set. How would you rank the 245 against the Mavrik's?
better feel
