  • It doesn't matter if it's an electric or an acoustic guitar... I always love a good deal. With a spruce top and pau ferro back and sides, plus Fishman electronics with a built-in tuner... AND a nice quality gig bag, all for around $400, you can't go wrong... as long as it sounds good. Let's find out.

    There has to have been someone who watched Max for the first time here, and not knowing his extraordinary guitar ability, got to the cowboy chords bit about 6mins in and thought "don't know why this guy has all those shred guitars..."

    his might seem trite to some, but for me (since I'm right at 85% finger-style on acoustics, and most would anticipate on electrics) it's a huge bonus that Orangewood "includes" the pick guard standalone so you can use it if you want, and if you don't, you aren't stuck with a pick guard when you do not want one!! While my next purchases will probably be acoustic guitars (unless there is an unexpected electric release that grabs my attention), this information is extremely helpful and very informative. Based on what I've seen from you, and one other review, I'm thinking Orangewood is making great quality guitars at a very reasonable price. Another Great Review, Max!!! Please keep the quality videos coming...

    I bought an Orangewood Echo Live a couple years ago. The best $350 I've ever spent. Now i wonder if I should pop for one of their higher end models. Then, I ran across the D'Angelico Excel Tammany. For $800, I don't know how you can do better. But, I do like the Orangewood look. The D'A is a little gaudy? maybe? I'd like a 000 type to compliment the dreadnought the Echo.

      @azcharlie… I have a D’A Grammercy excel acoustic guitar, and I gotta say, I don’t love it. If you like 000, I have one of those Martin’s they make in Mexico….around $500, and it is superb.

    • @azcharlie2009
      @azcharlie2009 Před 2 lety +1

      @@alexander_winston The 000 I'd like to have is the Martin 000-28 modern deluxe. But, it's $4K dollars!!! Don't know anything about the Grammercy, but the Tammany sounded really good on Sheppard's review. But, I don't think you can go too wrong with Orangewood. For the money, anyway... There is something about the necks on them.... Just a little wider than most.

    Hello there, Yes I have two orangewood guitars. One is the echo and the other is the 12 string electrical. You are spot on with your review because the action is really low and it's easy to play. I love them both and I also have a Yamaha FG830 but the action is kind of high on that and I always gravitate towards the orangewood. Thank you for your review! Eventually when I get a lot better I wouldn't mind getting a tailor. I was looking at the 214 CE. The action is pretty low on that one also plays nice.

    Nice cover on this Orangewood! That Is really nice for the Tag Price! I Play Both myself. More Acoustic than Electric. I've only had one Acoustic for the last 25 years. A Washburn that I bought used for about $300. And I would say ,that Orangewood has a little better Tonality to it!

    I have a Brooklyn spruce live with a fishman flex plus T electronics, I bought it used but it's in brand new condition, looks unplayed. I have spent the kast few days looking it over and playing ut, I have to say the fit and finish are perfect, I can't find one thing negative about this guitar, fir the money you can't buy a better guitar, IMHO, I've had lots if guitars , cheap to expensive and thus blows my mind how this can be so good for so cheap, I will buy another Orangewood soon just because it's too good to pass up, telling all my guitar buds about this so they can get in on the deal before the word gets out and the price goes up..

    Amazing how much dryer it sounds direct, & slightly muted hi end, but good definition on the notes either way, my Revstar has a thicker neck I’d bet, so would an old Gibson double cut. You may like a shred neckish shape, but that one looks like a relatively shallow C, not flat on the back.

    Just to try out the Brand I bought a Rey Mahogany (no electronics). Very thin top for a laminate. Well set up. UPS did not do it any favors, the shipping box was crushed down to the shape of the guitar. Luckily the gig bag protected it. Most of the components were pretty cheap on this version, but better than I expected for a $145 dollar guitar. The guitar appears to have no shipping damage, however there is one problem with this model that I see several complaints about online. Possibly due to the thin laminate top, or it could just be a bad bracing glue job, but I have had this only one month and I am noticing a Belly bulge just below the bridge. I am afraid that eventually I win loose a hand when the bridge pops off. :( I really like the new Mason Mahogany Live, even though it is one of the few that is Not price discounted for the upcoming Black Friday, but the bridge on the Rey Mahogany has me concerned about that part of the build quality. : /

    Acoustics even more than Electric need to be played kn person. Sound quality varies more. This one isn't great sounding, maybe a mic / piezo mix would be more 3 D

  • @sv2935
    @sv2935 Před 2 lety

    You play electric mostly so I'll let you slide on the "stage ready" title, needs to be mic or d.i. box with effects to give it the acoustics back, piezos do nothing for me. I do like orangewood brand, bought my son and daughter both one, and the sound after the guitar opens up (by playing and leaving near sound sources like speakers) is surprising and much better than expected.
