Yeah it'd be cool to see reviews of some Australian acoustic guitars, like Matons. They're almost a cliché in Aus, but I've never seen one anywhere else! (Maybe I haven't looked hard enough?) Or any acoustic made with Australian native wood. Do they sound different?

I have been thinking about buying one of these lefties and I'm glad you did a review on this same model I'm looking at. I like the smaller body acoustics since I find the dreadnoughts hard to play for me (I'm too fat I suppose) and this looks like it would work.

Well pretty much defeats the whole purpose of these guitars. Great bang for the buck/CHEAP. They will ship to all states in the US with the added shipping charge, I was hearing one guy paid 75$. So lets do some math here. Shipping to a country in the EU or even out of the US etc add 100$+ US dollars, when alot of these guitars cost around 200$ makes no sense right? Moral of the story, why not buy locally? or from a manufacturer that has a distribution center in your neck of the woods. Just sayin, best of luck -Cheers

Also own the Oliver left handed model.
The tone, playability, volume and quality are top notch. Great for fingerstyle and flat picking. I noticed that Shane plays close to the bridge which highlights the trebly side of tone. This guitar is very expressive played closer to the sound hole and neck. The bass response is deep and tight without being boomy. The tuners are excellent. Does not compress played up the fretboard and ca
poed up high is clear and sweet. Intonation is fine with it’s compensated saddle. I own high end Martins and other acoustics and this is the easiest playing. I’d just as soon play this Morgan as any other acoustic. I’ll eventually put an LR Bags Anthem or similar pickup on it and will have as good a pro setup as I’ll ever need. Get yourself any Orangewood guitar and you’ll congratulate yourself for your good judgement.
We own a right handed Oliver Jr. Live right handed and I wish I was right handed, too. The low price is a function of the company’s business model, not a lack of quality. Don’t miss the opportunity and check the website frequently for models in stock. I waited awhile for the Morgan and jumped on it quickly.

I have the Morgan with the spruce top. It sounds really good. The feel is excellent with an easy to play neck. If you're used to the Taylor neck then you'll be at home with the Orangewood. Mine has some cool bear clawing on the top. I didn't expect such a nice top for that price point. I will point out that there was a minor blemish to the finish on mine but don't care because it plays and sounds great. It stays in tune; it's remarkably stable. Maybe because of the laminate construction; don't know, don't care because it works. 😁 It does have a very noticeable scarf joint. This makes the neck stronger but if you don't like the look of scarf joints be warned. The only real con to the Orangewood is that it lacks a richness in the bottom end. It's not bad but there's just something not full about it. If you're gigging then the guitar is great but if you're heading to the studio then consider a higher end guitar like a Taylor or a Martin. I haven't tried Orangewood's solid wood collection though. That Hudson dreadnought could be an alternative for studio recording.
I did take mine to my guitar tech. I have no experience setting up acoustics and while it didn't need a setup, I wanted to put my favorite acoustic strings on it. Once you put your favorite strings on it, this will become your favorite all around acoustic.

Unrelated question about the chicken picking you often do; how do you keep your fingernails?
I've always kept mine super short, but have been recently practicing some fingerpicking stuff. Now they are growing long enough to get in the way (making my playing less fluid) and I don't know whether to cut em as usual or keep them growing, persevere and see if I get used to it. I think it's preferred for classical/folk styles. Thoughts?

Does the pickup in it have to be plugged in in order for it to work? I'm not seeing the point in a 9v battery if it doesn't run off the battery and give it tone and volume unless it plugged in.

Having watched how objective you are and your ability to run a guitar through the paces....the new offering by Lava guitars looks a d sounds promising...their earlier versions were thin and tinny sounding, with no bottom to speak of, and eq’ing only seemed to add an obnoxious boomy sound. The newest one: Lava Me Pro sound like a decent acoustic, but being carbon fiber would be a great option (if it stands up to scrutiny) for a traveling musician. Up to this point, even the really pricey carbon fibers didn’t have a sound I would use in a gig...this one might be one gig-worthy...heck, at least you would be trying something a tad on the novelty side!

@@MrMoneyHelper Well, considering that technically speaking, epoxy is part of a broad term that defines "plastic". Have you determined what "kind" of plastic it is made from? I did some research on it prior to my initial posting..it also has aluminum as part of its construction...from a practical standpoint....this creates a guitar that would not be affected by environmental changes...so yes, it is a real carbon fiber guitar. My interest, is to hear what is sounds like from an qualified, unbiased source, which is why I asked on here and not elsewhere...

@@MrMoneyHelper what this sounds more like...is denigration of a competitor rather than a legitimate point...again, you stating the type of resin is immaterial tells me what I needed to know...there are some resins that vary in stiffness, brittleness, flexibility, elasticity, etc. the resin has a LOT to do with the construction as these characteristics would create a stronger or weaker material as well as also affecting the sound dramatically...you state you know how these are constructed, yet you state the resin is immaterial....which means you actually DON'T know....if anything, I am now more curious about the Lava and less likely to consider the Klos.....you did a good job of unselling....

Hear that, I ran into the same thing. Might wana check out the Oliver Jr. Makes a great travel guitar, perfect for it. Mahogany makes it sound great for the size and then ther's the bang for the buck. Have a bunch of electric guitars, and also a Ibanez artcore hollow body/love it but yeh the bulky thing... picked up the Oliver Jr for 160$ on sale no electronics, not needed for traveling or a quick "pick up and play for 20min".If you want the "live" version it adds 80$ One last thing, had a Yamaha travel guitar/there is such a thing as too small, didn't like it much and got rid of it. The Oliver Jr finds a "sweet spot" with size/ a little larger than most travel guitars. Best of luck, -Cheers
