I love the monster in all colours but I can't see one on my wrist, I think to me it a younger man's watch if that makes any sense lol, also believe it or not I'd go olive, probably because its an older man's colour lol, the Skx Heimdallr is more suitable for me. Me now after way too many watch guy videos: Hm, they're actually not that bad, these dial colours are truly beautiful. And I've actually felt a sudden urge for swimming with barracudas recently. Great review as usual. I've always thought these would look totally ridiculous on my 6.5 inch wrist, however my SKX actually have kinda the same measurements and works fine (so does my Flightmaster). I've recently been seeing these as fun over the top super-tooly watches, and with these beautiful dial options they're getting more and more tempting. Damn it!
I had the same thought, that it was this gargantuan hunk of 316L that would be too heavy, look tacky and never get any wear. It would never replace my Heimdallr SKX, but I can totally see the appeal now after my time with this one. If you have a want for one, and have other, more versatile pieces, I can't see a reason not to grab one! Unless, like me, you already have watches spilling out of drawers and cupboards 🤦♂️
It's a nice watch, but I get a feeling that despite some AR coating the slightly domed crystal gets a lot of reflections and that it decreases legibility. How does it seem when you wear it?
I didn't notice any issues reading it, but I always find colours other than black are much easier to read when reflections are involved. So it may be that the blue is fine, but black could suffer from reflections.
All the reviews say there's really a lot of bang for the buck here. Everyone seems really impressed with this homage. I've been wanting an orange Seiko Monster just because they're so iconic and ugly. (Anyone can wear a beautiful watch but it takes a real connoisseur to appreciate an ugly watch....lol.) You can't touch them on Ebay though. I'm still trying to decide if the Heimdallr is going to scratch my itch. Its a good watch but is it going to bug me that its not a Seiko? Hard to say. So much of this watch collecting compulsion is psychological. The lizard brain tells you what to do and common sense is left by the wayside. Might as well give it a shot for the price and quality of this little knock off though.
It's a top notch watch, and honestly, I never really give a s*&t about the branding. I never care if it's the original, only if it offers bang for buck, and if the original is the best bang for buck, then I buy that!
