    100% agree that this is a homerun from Heimdallr. The quality of this homage is excellent for the price. Nice job with the video, cheers!

    I really like what Seiko does with these unique case shapes. I like how the bezel fits with the grooves on the case. Heimdallr seems to have done a fine job replicating it.

    Hats off for Seiko for bringing such unique designs, but there is a problem with Seiko which the market has done with it - back in the day when they were released they were a steal for the money. However time has passed on and Seiko did introduce newer generations, which obviously made the previous generations a somewhat limited edition - the price went parabollic on them. The problem is that those chinese clones/homages really picked up during that time and they became much better spec than the original Seikos. They really nailed what is essential in those monsters - the tooth like 2nd gen indicies + elevated the movement and the crystal. There is really not much room for improvement left - mayby we could wish a slighly posher caseback or a better resolution/sharper logo on the dial, maybe even go so far by having it applied🤩. My heart would choose Seiko, but at those prices only hardcore enthusiast would pay that much for a what it used to be - an affordable watch... So I guess I will hear the common sense in my brain and pick a Heimdallr, because it is now what that old Seikos used to be - best bang for buck affordable watch. I would even go so far to say - it is now spec wise what those Seikos should have been back in the days 😉 I fully agree with your opinion at the end 👍

    Excellent review. The red version of this model is another piece I've been considering. Thanks for reviewing it

      I've heard a lot of good things about the red version. Hands down better then some actual Seiko watches. The caseback is weak but other then that it's 10/10.

    Love this review. That is a great watch. Hard to believe we can get a great watch for this amount of money. I just ordered a red monster for $175 Canadian ($125 US?) using all my perks on AE. Been a crazy weekend. I also ordered a Merkur turtle and a Pierre Paulin Chrono. 3 watches! Both on sale and another $50US off with a code. I could not say no.

    Great review! I'm so close to buying one of these. For me, it's the pointed markers, not so much the improved crystal, bracelet, and movement. If Seiko had just kept those teeth I would go for a gen 4, but I love the bite of the sharp markers.

    Steeldive for the UK buyers, and I personally think their logo and brand name is much more nicer and more suited for diver watches than random letters in heimdllr ;)

    • @degenerateWA
      @degenerateWA  Před 3 lety +1

      I agree that their logo is better. When I first started looking into these brands (Heimdallr, Steeldive, Proxima, San Martin, etc) I was going to pick Steeldive solely off of their logo alone. I went with Heimdallr because I had heard from multiple sources that their finishing was slightly better. I'm sure the actual differences are marginal. Either way, I have a Steeldive 1969 Ploprof arriving next week and I'm very interested to see their quality firsthand.

    • @degenerateWA
      @degenerateWA  Před 3 lety +1

      @@harun5105 I know for a fact that they at least come from the same warehouse. The shipping origin for both Heimdallr and Steeldive is "SHENZHEN KEHUOREN KEJI CO.,LTD". Doing some light research I believe that Shenzhen is sort of like a central hub for the "knock-off" industry in China. I can only assume that all of these watch brands are tied to each other in some way and have different branding to maximize profits. I'm not against it, just curious about it.

    Great video, excellent review. Scratching the itch is really what it's all about so very well stated. I've spent a few years playing with Swiss watches from Oris to Ulysse Nardin, anywhere from 1 to 5 thousand dollars per price. I've realised that as much as I love them all, they do cost money to buy and worse, they cost to maintain. Recently purchased a bracelet for my Ulysse which cost me $1500. I bought a titanium bracelet for my Oris aquis which cost $500. I had a service done by Oris on my Titan which cost $500.
    In the last 12 months I've started to play in the Gshock, Seiko, Helm, Heimdallr, steeldive sector and realising that I love and enjoy them just as much as my Swiss pieces. I will be keeping 4 of my very favourite swiss watches but will not be buying Any more of them. I've discovered that there really is no need for them in my life Any more and feel.just as proud wearing my Gshock steel, steeldive tuna and my Helm, with a sapphire and lumed bezel as an example. I can swap and change them at will as I please too which is exciting. I'm over the whole watch snobbery bullshit and throwing thousands of dollars to a a hobby. The irony of all this is that I get more compliments on my cheap watches than my Swiss watches. Go figure!

    • @degenerateWA
      @degenerateWA  Před 3 lety +1

      Wow you've got/had some great pieces! It's great to hear the perspective from people who has the experience of very high end watches.
      I think we can all agree that watch happiness can be found from any level of watch caliber. The important thing is that we find the watch the fulfills our own style and our own priorities while celebrating other people's choices in their watches.
      I think we can also agree that superb watch quality can be found from many different price ranges as well, which is great because good quality is not something only a millionaire can enjoy.
      You've the got the right attitude in this hobby sir.
      Thanks for your insight!

    Heimdallr is a homage to a homage.....because every Seiko is a homage to some other watch anyway....
    Nice watch.....probably i'll order one very soon (but before off course, i need a few more G's :-))
    Nice video Simucom.....by the way, Heimdallr should send a few watches on your address for free because you're doing a great job for these guys....

      Getting free watches would be awesome, but in some ways I like that my channel only covers watches that I purchased myself. Of course I will never say "no" to a company that wants to send me something for free. The channel is still way too small for big companies to care about it lol.

    My (unsolicited) thoughts on homages watches. I would buy Seiko (or Citizen) for different reasons than I'd buy a Heimdallr.
    It's like buying Levi's selvedge jeans vs Uniqlo for a third of the price. I buy the Levi's if I only want one pair to last me a couple of decades. Sure, Levi's quality is not what is used to be. Their prices for the higher quality jeans have crept up. But they did invent the blue jean. Everything else is an homage. And they still have very good quality of construction at the higher price points. That said, I don't want or need all my jeans to be built to take that kind of long term wear. So... Sometimes a Uniqlo scratches the itch.

    • @degenerateWA
      @degenerateWA  Před 3 lety +1

      I think it's fine to want the original but also fine to get something close to the original. It all depends on the individual's priorities. For me personally I appreciate that I can enjoy this type of quality without having to pay the original price. Perhaps one day I will be motivated to purchase a Seiko Monster but I highly doubt it.
