  • Following my initial review of the Dunlop Trailmax Meridian tyres 8 months ago, I thought it was time to offer a longer-term review/update on them now that they've done their first UK winter. In this video, I'll take you through what I see as the Pros & Cons of these 90/10 Dunlops, and who I think the Meridian tyres are suitable for.
    if you want to check them out further, you can find more tech info here - www.dunlop.eu/en_gb/motorcycl...
    and for pricing and orders check out - twotyres.co.uk/ (I'm not affiliated with them at all and get no kickbacks, they just seem to be regularly good on pricing and availability)

    After watching your videos I got a pair of Trailmax Meridian from TwoTyres for my Triumph Street Scrambler after doing 6000 miles on the OEM Metzeler Tourance tyres. I absolutely love the Dunlops. The first three weeks of use were in wet conditions and they felt very sure-footed. Since then I've happily scraped the pegs with total confidence and am very happy with my choice. I only ever veer off-road on very light, dry trails, so these are perfect. I was never particularly happy with the original Tourance tyres. They suffered the worst tramlining I have ever known, and the design of the tread is such that, the further you lean over, the less rubber there is in contact with the road, which meant they never held a line properly in spirited corners. It could be argued that I bought the wrong bike for spirited riding, but at my age I needed the comfortable riding position, and with better shocks and tyres, the Street Scrambler is surprisingly competent.

    After 3 set and 4th new on my 2012 gsa i can tell you there are one of the best tyres ive ever had . Great handling, responsive, quick heating and amazing on wet . I get around 10000km/6000miles from the set ( alwayse change both ) i usually use them on the sides. Good on dry dirt ans rocks tracks . Really good all-rounder

    I am doubting between these Dunlops Meridian and the Continental trail attack 3 for my BMW gs650. This video has been useful for me. Thank you from Cantabria, Northen Spain

    Clocked nearly 17000km on my set with my 1290 Super Adventure S. Flogged it since February 2022 primarily for commuting. Felt very confident in rain, even sub 2deg C temperatures, solid grip for wheelies but did not feel so comfortable at high speed in the rain at lean angle, whether in a sweeper or a hairpin. Turns well but turning, theres a lateral wobble in the front at speed.

    Driving an Xt600 with the K60 I'm looking for some more road oriënteren tires because I'm really pushing it to it's limit in the ardennen and Luxemburg. Also I bet they're nice and quite compared to a more knobbier tire!

    I've got them on my Tiger 800 xrt and having done a trip to the Bol d'Or last year , the only fault was mine shimmiys when on stripped tarmac , the groovage type. Other than that pretty faultless and wearing well.

      Cheers, similar but a bit sharper handling. The Pirellis are a little more forgiving in the rough stuff

    Hello from Greece! my motorcycle is a honda crosstourer 1200 and its time to change tyres, between dunlop trx meridian and continental conti trail attack 3 which one do you recommend? thanks for your videos

    • @mancavemoto
      @mancavemoto  Před rokem +1

      Hi, both very good. If you spend most time on the road i'd say the Meridian, if you ride on gravel often probably the Conti. I prefer the Meridian on wet roads

    How do they compare to the Trail Attack 3? I currently have those on the 1290 SAS. I think they are great overall, but the front precision could be better. Specifically, do the Dunlop give a stiffer ride?

    • @mancavemoto
      @mancavemoto  Před rokem +1

      The Meridians have a stiffer sidewall than the Trail Attack, so they do feel a bit ‘quicker’

    Just fitted the Meridians to my Tiger 900 Gt and not happy because handlebars shake from 35 to 65 mph.. Tyre fitters removed front wheel and rebalanced it but no real improvement.
    Maybe I have got a defective tyre, can't think of any other problems as bike had main dealer serviced at 4300 miles and tyres were changed at 4600.. Don't know where to go with this problem.
