- After 4500 miles on these new tyres, I thought it was time to let you know how they feel.
Solid, sticky, well-mannered, and not too noisy at all. Very happy indeed with them.

Perfect timing, I’m looking at putting some new tyres on my Africa Twin.
Great Real world review Rich 👏🏻👏🏻 Definitely put those tyres through there paces 👍🏻
Awesome, honest review, thank you for sharing!
Thank you for sharing, looking to get some for my GSA this spring
Great video Rich. Pleased that you rate these as they are the next boots for my Rally Explorer. Cant wait to get them on!! Thank you
Great vid Richie, I’m thinking of getting these for my Triumphs GT Pro, impressive tyre, 🇦🇺
I think you just boosted Dunlop's UK sales, Richy. A good review on British roads and conditions. I certainly want a set now.
Bloody great tyre!
I’ve been very pleased with mine on my 990 doing sand, steep rocky climbs.
Interesting one. Can’t go wrong with new rubber.😊👍Manxman 🇮🇲
Hi Richy nice review noticed you are right around to the edge on the back tyre like the sound of those iv got a ktm adventure 21“ front wheel what size wheels are you running on your bike mate
Look really decent tyres Richy ! And nearly 5K out of them can't be bad ,what was the front like Richy ? I thought you where going to show that as well ? Good review of the Dunlop .👍
Still in great condition hence only replacing the rear. 👍
Hi rich, just traded my cb1000r for 2019 ATAS 1000L2. It’s got fresh Dunlop meridians, only doubts are the inner tubes, just probably the unknown 🤔
yea they done well for sure what was left in spain looks like only halfed maybe less thats great for the weight of bike and riding style defo maybe a look when i swap bike as think they would look funny on my MT09 haha but bet would be fun tho haha
I think they are just ok. You start with a knobby that it is not very deep. After 2500 miles, you probably have a 70/30 tire at best. So, perhaps just getting a good 70/30 that doenst change much is better. Also, my rear tire is noisy at 40mph, annoying whistle sound.
I got to 10k+ miles on mines (not usable anymore really), but I seem to have rode them on twisties most of the time (used them on my tour through Alps and around Balkans, avoiding highways. They surely did 6k of twisties.). Based on mould marks on sidewalls for the miles you've got - are you mostly touring on highway with them? My center portion looked like that at around 7-8k miles, which is a hefty difference.
However, I do weigh packed up 80 kilos maybe, so that might be the reason aswell.
Loved the video, subbed.
Cheers!
Wow, 10k miles! Thats some going. No, mainly normal twisty/off road riding. Most of the deterioration was done in Spain, loaded up and in the thirstiest. The Vstrom is a super heavy bike though. Which bike are you on? 👍
@@RichyVida I am on Norden. I did try to wear them out fast by riding agressively (for science, ofc), but they just wouldn't powerslide on European roads, and I could get them to slide only on cold rainy days - but even then would be hard to do so.
I will be going back to them probably for next summer season.
Hi Richy. Out of interest these new Dunlop tyres are being reviewed in this months Ride magazine. You might wish to have a glance 👍
Didn’t realise magazines were still a thing! Haha. Will have a nosey 👍
I'm interested to know your top 5 50/50
Great review. I wish you would have talked about the longevity some. Especially in the last 500 miles. My question to you would be do you think this could have gone another 500 miles? 😂😂
Can’t remember what I did or didn’t say in this one now haha.
In my third set now. Love them. Prob get around 5000 miles on a rear and double of front
Ok mate watched another of your videos you seem to be on a vstrom 1050 de 21 also I’m going to get some for my ktm cheers mate
Great tyres 👍
Hi! Biker Buddy. Can I ask which helmet you are using in the video. it looks like it has a large visor with good side view. Thanks
Arai Tour X4 👍
ADV bikes do not get much mileage from tires it appears.
I used to get 16,000 miles (26,000 kms) on Dunlop Roadsmart sport touring tires on a 440 lbs. sportbike, 150 to 200 hp bikes. No chicken lines on tires.
Maintaining the proper tire pressure via checking and adjusting it every day for the outdoor temperature helps the tire maintain its profile (no flat centre). This kept it handling, and gripping good in all types of weather. Not much need to slow down much in rain. Also adjusting the tire pressure for when I had a load of luggage on it also.
I used up 4 sets and dealer said no one gets that good of mileage and they heard that not many can keep up with me on the twisties. Riding smooth obviously helps.
Have a great day.
Are they directional
I don't know the legal limit in UK. In Germany it's 1,6mm, but the twi mark has got a height of only 0,8 to 1mm
1mm in uk for bike tyres
Have you been off road?
Hi Rich, good info there, can you give some info on the front too pls. Cheers
What do you want to know? 👍
Nice vid mate, you cant beat new rubber,i wonder what Gaz called you under his breath, you on the bike him going to work lol ;-)
Ride Safe Baza \m/
Hey, we were BOTH at work! 👍
@@RichyVida Er,,,, oh ye,,,i forgot mate ;-) ;-)
Hey Richie I’m really fancying these for our trip to Morocco in April 24, do you think they’d be good enough for myself on the GSA and Helen on her AT fully loaded for 3700 miles? Thanks dude😎👍
Yes, absolutely. 🤩
@@RichyVida excellent! thanks very much😎👍
Hi richy I see the new tour x5 is out will you be upgrading?
Yes, I think so…
Tbh...that mileage is fair for those tyres after your riding and where you've been in them . 👍
True that!
I put these on my '22 CB500X. While they stick very well on the pavement in dry or wet, and seem to be wearing well, they have an obscenely loud whine between 50-70 km/h. It's to the point where people stop and look, and I need ear plugs even for shorter/slower local rides now. Maybe I just have a bad belt or something but it kind of took the joy out of riding, between the noise and the much slower handling response.
It's too bad because I waited three months for them to come in, and they look fantastic on the bike. The little 500 has to work a bit harder with them, as is expected of any off-road tire. They didn't transform the bike off-road as much as I was hoping for but I don't have much to compare with other than the street-oriented OEM Dunlop Mixtours (which I actually quite like).
I only notice a slight whine when breaking heavily? Defo not something that’s there all the time? What pressures do you run?
@@RichyVida I've tried everything from OEM recommendation of 42 PSI rear down to about 25 PSI. Doesn't make a difference. I checked tire alignment, too. It seems slightly quieter now that it's only 5 degrees out, but I was hoping with 1000-2000 km it would quiet down but it's still singing away at 50-70km/h. Maybe I have a defective tire (I think it's the rear).
I run 36/36 on all knobblies. Not sure if that makes a difference but really nothing too noticeable unless breaking heavily in the twisties..
@@RichyVida Thanks, I'll give that a try. Fortunately I've been very impressed with the tire stickiness and road handling for a 50/50 tire. Snow soon here in Canada though! I try to ride right til december and get back out in March. It's the salt that's hard on the bikes.
@@Thirsty_Fox i thought i was going crazy but I am glad that I am not the only one. My rear raid developed a loud sound. It is like a whistling sound at 38 to 42 mph. I checked alignment, everything and it is still there. I ride a vstrom 800 de. I am certainly not buying this tire again as it is not spectacular on anything and it is wearing fast. I am having the same experience shown on this video or slightly worse.
How noisy are they compared to other similar type tyres Richy?
Noise only really noticeable when breaking heavily in the hot twisty. But nothing more than should be.
Maybe I missed it in the video but, how is the front tire doing?
Front is still like new hence only replacing the rear 👍
The 4500 miles, was it hard miles or what took style do you generally ride with? I’ve a tour of 4500-5000 miles later this year and want to know if I could run these 👀Tia
Yep, you could. Easy. Check my Morocco series. Close to 5000 miles. Still loads left
@@RichyVida thanks bud! Will check that out now
Looking for a good tire for my Tiger 1200 to do the NE BDR. Just may have found but!
Oh man! I’m jealous! NE BDR! 🤩🤩🤩
Just ordered the tires! Be here Wednesday!
What you run on front
Pressure?
@@RichyVida ha ha ,make of tire mate
Oh! It’s the same. Trailmax Raid. I’d never mix and match tyres!
@@RichyVida if you remember I run a husky 701 LR ,TKC80s on it about 3000 mile on rear about 3500 on the front miles ye ,do you think the trailmax raid would work on my bike
Yes they’d defo work on it. I do love the TKC80, as well 👍
don't you blokes usually do km's?
Mph
