Someone once described Cleese as "half giraffe, half hovercraft". His bottom half moves swiftly and very agile, yet his top half sways back and forth XD I think what Connie is saying is correct, Cleese's stature helped add a bit to Basil's over the top and awkward factors.
Looks like you were crying Connie.Anyway good to hear you again and all of you were perfect in FT.I could not imagine it without you in it.You are a wonderful actress.God Bless and take care dear.
When I first seen fawlty towers I knew Connie booth was born and raised in the American Midwest. But I thought she acquired her British English accent by residing there for years. Now I realize that she was acting a British English accent. She's a fine actress and a wonderful writer. I'm glad she and John cleese are still close friends, despite them having divorced in the 1970's.
Even an average-sized Basil wouldn't have worked as well. Cleese's stature allows him to do over the top things while also retaining this bit of awkwardness that really fits Basil.
She's still beautiful decades later 😍
I think her humility, while admirable, is misplaced- hers is a hilarious performance in F.T. , displaying perfect timing. Thank you, Connie.
What a show, so funny always had me in hysterics and Connie/Polly stunning then and now beautiful
Connie aka Polly always got Basil out of trouble from everything in the smartest funiest ways she was just so good xx
I know John and Connie married and divorced, so it's good but to hear them describe each other's talents so positively

Haha brilliant
I had a crush on Polly. She's so cute. Then, I found out she was married to John Cleese. Don't blame him. Love the show, Fawlty Towers.
Me too I had a crush on her as well but well done to her she was very talented
Have you seen Romance with a Double Bass?

She's a psychiatrist now, after retiring from acting in the 90s :)

Nice to see
Oof, that burn at the end...
Wonderful mid-Atlantic’ish accent
Horatio, not Laertes.
Connie was my fave comedic actress from the mid-seventies until....
She's right - a short Basil would never have worked. It would've just been annoying.

What happened to her accent?O my words that's shocking!:)
Nothing. That's her real accent.
michalzy well for a start she’s actually American 🤷♀️ do you comment this way when you hear Eric Idles new accent?
She’s American.
I still don't think she looks like a witch.
But does she float?
It's a fair cop
Greatest comedy ever, sadly to politically correct nowadays, sadly
