I watched the coronation with my husband. We laughed until we cried and agreed that it was exactly like a Monty Python sketch. I'm very pleased that John Cleese agrees.
Nobody expects the British Coronation.
You know you're a Monty Python fan when you saw the golden orb during the coronation and immediately thought of "The Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch".
Cleese has a point. What's more Monty Python than when apparently the Grim Reaper photobombed the coronation? lol
It's when you realize that everything you see and most everything you do is a Monty Python sketch that it finally makes sense.
John is spot on. Humans are extraordinarily, magnificently, sublimely silly.
I'm American and I watched this thing and at some point, after taking in all the formal pageantry, pomp and circumstance, I said to my cat, "no wonder Britain does such brilliant satire"

I couldn't stop laughing too. Charles looked like he was cleaning out his garage and kept getting distracted by all the stuff he found.
As the world falls into idiocy & tyranny, we more than ever need comedians like John around to deflate the hypocrisy.

He's not the only one who immediately recognized the similarity of the coronation to Monty Python!
To cope with the ridiculous John Cleese gave me the sense of humour I needed to survive the madness of life.
Cleese is a national treasure. Humour as it was once allowed.
Love John Cleese. He is no push over like the majority of people are today. A true representative of the human race, with integrity....and wits.
Fawlty Towers was the best even 48 years later🤣
