      @@WinterBoots15 the server that had the full cheat thing for roller had a LOT of people in it and a LOT of people shared that so i highly doubt 5% of people were using it because it only took a few minutes to setup because funny guy probably made a rat executable to do all the work for the braindead idiots that actually spent money on it lol it was even leaked on github for awhile idk if it still is so yeah idk where 5% of high elo came from im sure low elo was at least 5% and high elo probably had at least 25% of roller players using some sort of cheat or multiple but tbh that number is probably higher towards 33% or more but id guess a lot of people on roller had logic and saw that this was cheating just as much as any mnk macro or other cheat is so its theoretically possible less people used it then this but i promise you the people who used it actually thought it was ok 99% of the time because of the bad mnk scripters that give mnk a bad name it got so bad this guy made the whole cheat to emulate mnk cheats basically thus giving a 100% legal reason to use this at the time so a metric TONLOAD of people just said yeah this is totally fair and started abusing the hell out of it so again i dont see how with this info and how popular it got that only 5% of people were using it in high elo thats just pure cap

      @@draksato687 Technically yes. But for ppl that use keyboard macro for it are completely undetectable. So its banned but there is no way for the game to prove whether you are cheating or not. Imo the superglide macros are fine because it still requires skill to initiate one. The only difference is now you press one button instead of 2 which removes the FPS dependency of it if only by a little.
      I believe the main problems are configs with neo strafing and other movement tech that a real player cannot do

    As soon as this update dropped, i started to see a lot of players asking "Why my superglides don't work?" and "Did they remove superglides?", it was hilarious to make fun of those clowns

      i mean they essentially did, unless you want to run around running the game at 30fps all the time good luck hitting a frame perfect trick in the middle of a firefight at that point it's basically luck

      Me and my homies been hitting glides at 90 - 144 fps depending on which you talk to. it's genuinely just a skill issue.@@AnAshenSpirit

      @@AnAshenSpirit you can get super glides consistent at 144 fps easily. The only thing that would hold you back is if you have a crappy keyboard like mine that can not hit super glides, other than that it is a skill issue.

    I will say, for superglides specifically I hope they eventually go the speedrun-rulings route of intentionally expanding the window to be less FPS/hardware dependent in the first place. It shouldn't become impossible if you just happen to drop a frame here or there. Very odd in its current status

      theyre kind of doing that... theyre making one of octanes evo upgrades a tap strafe essentially when you use his jump pad

      picked up a keyboard recently. TS isnt the hard part, its chaining lurches. All the left, right or backwards TS you did on roller are just lurches on keyboard. I dont think they want to put lurches on roller, But a forward lurch would be huge.

    i feel like superglides should just be a supported ingame feature much like how overwatch a while back turned mercy's super jump tech into an actual mechanic for her, best way i could think of this is to embrace the superglide mechanic and allow for more frame time in order to initiate the superglide rather than the 1 frame window to hit it

    I spent at least a third of my gametime in the range and a good percentage of that was flatline recoil control, so the moment i saw that jitter aiming is a thing, i felt what i was doing was useless. Good to know that you're with me in this one

    I just wish they would allow full button rebinds on controller. If I could do the following things on console (like I can on PC!), I would actually have way more of a reason to play it on console outside of it being slightly more convenient to start the app and play with friends:
    1. Have a separate interact and reload button/have a “prioritize interact, tap to reload normally but hold when near an interactable, similar to how MWII does it.
    2. Be able to remap any two (or just one) buttons for my ultimate.
    3. Be able to disable emotes, allowing for more controller real-estate.
    4. Be able to use the left and right side of the touch pad as separate remappable buttons.
    5. Be able to choose which actions are used for the “secondary interact” (similar to how it works with Rampart’s walls) so that way I can separate my revive and door-opening inputs.
    All of these are really basic changes, and it baffles me how a studio that expects customer loyalty for 10+ years can’t be bothered to listen to the same basic feedback they’ve been getting for four years now. This isn’t cross-platform where there’s a jungle of legal and technical issues to wade through, it’s just “press X to do Y”.

      Yeah PC players get all these crazy movement techs available to controller and MnK with no downside, meanwhile console players have to choose between not being able to reload next to a door or a downed teammate.

      @@ToaRanen7to be fair aim assist is super strong and this is coming from someone whose used a controller their whole life. If they just nerfed aa at the same time as giving us remapping and other accessibility it would be closer balance than we’ve ever seen

      You're glad the no recoil and absolute abuse of configs are gone. This could have been removed without completely removed without removing basic lurch tech but...no.
      And you have of these M and K players saying that even the basic lurch tech was cheating (whilst they themselves can still do it).
      Just really sad, I haven't played apex since the change.

    Thank you for the video Mokey! I am happy to see the positive changes coming to Apex.
    We saw a gradual change in Apex as more movement was discovered and things went from watching a super high skill player hit movement techniques occasionally to watching someone tap a config cheat to do it. I'm happy to see Respawn give credit where it's due and work against the cheaters.

      @@leandrofod Simple would to just replace duo mode with solo. Duo and trio are so similar and nobody in my region can even find a game on duos so there's really no point in keeping it for Oceania at least. Since day 1 the game released I couldn't find a duos game

    Let controllers tap strafe, but reduce or remove aim assist for a certain amount of time after one is done. Like they did where lurches are removed after a controller input is removed.
    Bit of a side tangent here, but as a roller player I'd love an option to remove rotational AA and keep and adjust the slowdown when aiming at targets separately. Whenever I come back to apex I suck because the rotational stuff throws me off.

      To remove aim assist while moving mid air would feel really clunky. I say just nerf it. The longer they delay it, the harder it'll be to shift from the current aim assist. Ironically I recently just spent time changing my controller configs on my steam deck so I could get the ability to tap strafe on controller and even then I had to sacrifice my ability to climb and tapstrafe because it was on hold a. I really love the ability to tapstrafe on controller and it's a shame to see it being removed as a byproduct of serious exploitation of the mechanics

      How bout get rid of aim assist entirely. Im feeling generous today, console gets 0.2 aim assist, pc none at all. Fucking sick of seeing of trashcans have pro level aim when they dont even know what aim training even is let alone done it ever in their life

    they should definitely just make it so you can only forward lurch on controller I used to only use that one and it was good for rotating quicker around the map or in fights, it also sucks cause i used to enjoy playing legends like loba, rampart or conduit but now im forced to play legends with passive movement like horizon or bang otherwise it just feels really clunky and slow. Supergliding, mantle jumping and wall bouncing are all still very possible on controller but for now feel like the inputs skill ceiling for these movement tech have been limited and even just the simple forward tapstrafe would increase it exponentially

    I agree with every word mokey said. That tap-strafing in SOME form should absolutely be accessible for controller players, that jitter-aiming is a brain-dead feature, and that controller ziplinedancing really, REALLY sucks to do on controller 🥲. My question is this: at the same time we try to close the skill requirement between MnK and controller, would it be possible to try and close the gap between console and PC? And the other question that stems from that is... Once that gap is relatively small, should we allow MnK on console? (If it wasn't obvious I just want the same movement as the rest of you rich PC people 😂) As always, great vid. No change there 😊.

      Also how do you expect respawn to fix fundemental hardware problems on console that cause a gap between pc and console with software

      Highly recommend building a PC; you could create a solid budget build that achieves 200+ fps on low settings for around $600-$800. Alternatively, you can opt for a pre-built PC from retailers like Jawa or Newegg. Newegg's options might be in the $700-$800 range, while Jawa offers options ranging from $400 to $800. Just make sure the specs are good and worth the price Many excellent CZcamsrs, such as Zach Tech Turf will be helpful .

      Tbh console 120 fps for the next season will close that gap because their aim assist is already 33% stronger than us it wasnt a problem since their frames were low but now that it is actually decent they would would 1 clip us so easily, well the new gen players that is, old gen is unplayable because they don't get stable frames, they average 35-50 frames and they have massive input delay because of vsync, i remember playing ps4 it wasn't fun at all

    Hey Mr. Mokey sir, I don't play Apex nearly as much anymore but I just wanted to thank you for all your hard work-both here with Respawn and in general-in striving for an honest, human movement scene. The automation of movement is the death of skill expression and what you're doing here is a massive step in the right direction for the health of the game.

    Contextual taps + forward lurches seem like good places to start to improve the controller experience. I'm curious if they can make both the thumbsticks active so controller players will be able to move while looting as well.

    What is respawns stand on super gliding? If they are cool with it why not just increase the window a frame or two. Making it less random and more intuitive. Do u think this has a negative side besides making it easier

      I will not reveal respawns stand on Supergliding. I don't think it should be made "easier" but should be turned into a consistent timing window independent from FPS

      absolutely. the timing window for high fps is actually outrageous. Its at the point where limits in actual hardware can be responsible for messing up the timing. @@Mokeysniper

      Was it that often? I heard a lot of complaints about neo strafing but I never thought it was that big of a problem for some. What are your stats? Like hours in game and kd? Maybe it's because of sbmm that I didn't encounter that much of neo strafers.

      @@maxburmab7962 Yeah I play for about 8hrs a day and used to see it at least once every game, most games 2 or 3 enemies would neo strafe.
      Ive got about 4000 hours and a KD of about 3.8

      @@maxburmab7962I’m in pretty sweaty lobbies (who isn’t lol) and I’d see it ab 3-5 times a day, during the course of like a 5-6 hour session. Some days weren’t so bad, other days that were worse, ya it’d be almost every game, ironically I’ve only seen it once now, and you can tip your hat and say Ggs bc you know that dude was legit. Feels real good :)
      Ps I love movement, actively practice lurch tech / neostrafing and do not have a problem facing someone who is manually doing it bc it is hard af and respectable lol

      @@maxburmab7962 i didn't see it too much in br but in mixtape modes i would usually at least one player neo strafing. Not sure if it affects anything but account lvl somwhere in 300s and kd this season 1.7 (idk if thats just br kd or what but that's what it showed)

    It seems like the problem is just aim assist and instead of fixing that problem it seems like respawn strong armed and said no movement for controller. If aim assist is busted enough to keep you locked on to a target while you neo strafe the neo strafe isn’t the problem and if you think it is that’s cope.

    in regards to the superglide, you can set attenuations on new keyboards so when you press V and spacebar at exactly the same time the V key for crouch reacts that 1ms slower than jump.

    I love the idea of making movement mechanics more accessable. Not only the controller stuff but also in regards of super gliding. On my current keyboard the roccat vulcan tkl hitting super glides is about as hard as finding a girlfriend. I had my friend lend me his wooting 60HE and it took me 5 min to hit super glides pretty much constantly. So all you have to do is pay 170€ for a keyboard and you'll have a competitive edge over your opponents? That's stupid. Also, wouldn't modifying actuation points for hall effect keyboards through e.g. wootility be an automation of a movement mechanic and with that after respawns new rules illegal?

      I wouldn't say changing actuation points would automate movement, something like macros and cfgs automate it, not actuation points
      Automating a movement is when you get something to do it for you, changing actuation points doesn't do the movement for you it only makes it so its easier to hit

      ​@@notus97 I mean considering the superglide works on a 1 frame delay you could just put crouch and jump on adjacent keys and give the crouch a different actuation point so flatly pressing on both keys does the super glide action. That's basically automating it.

      Nope, they are the same thing, jitter aim is just "recoil smoothing a little more".

    Im so happy this was implemented i really wanted to play during the final fantasy event but my lobbies had like ten configgers which might not seem like a lot but when they're in three stacks and there are 5 teams left by the third circle it gets kinda annoying and old real quick. So yea i like it

    Hello Mokey! Even if this video is about apex, I wanted to tell you about a new movement tech for THE FINALS, It's about ziplines and how to ride them faster and more safely {you are harder to shoot at}. Binding your interact {E} and jump {spacebar} on opposite sides of the mousewheel will make you go about 20% faster {in my case from about 5 seconds to about 4 seconds while using the zipline in the firing range} and combing it with different pacing of inputs {jump wait interact wait jump, exc.} and holding down your D or A buttons {you will not ride the zipline directly underneath but instead on the side} you can have incredible pre nerf zipline jump movement whilst traversing at really high speed and in upredictable patterns.

      People should demand the controller to have better options or better performance rather than asking the game to give them advantage for having a worse input. You don't see people with an office mouse complaining about input lag and asking for aim assist. Why won't controller users ask for an addition of a scroll wheel instead? Gaming mouses and keyboards have been innovating for years to be even better while controllers couldn't even solve the stick drift issue for decades.
      If the controller added a scroll wheel or something similar so they don't need macros or configs to do the process, then it would be okay. But I don't think either aim assist or tap strafing should be in the game in the first place.

    love this, im so glad that making the movement part of the game instead of just an exploit is part of the conversation. I don't play roller but I firmly believe that basic tapstrafe and looting movement should be a part of the controller players experience.

    As someone who used configs for supergliding, I knew this day was going to come and im glad that the playing field is slightly more even now. It humanly impossible for me to hit superglides with the same consistency configs allowed me to but it's certianly more rewarding when I do pull it off legit in game. If I were to advocate for one thing, I would want all movement mechanics to be independent from the fps you are running at. It is physically impossible for me to input the right keys 1 frame apart due to my fps and keyboard polling rate, which makes even the perfect input a 50/50 superglide. I think that movement in general should be more accessible to everyone who is willing to put in the time to learn it and utilize it effectively. I think Apex has great potential, primarily due to the extremely high skill ceiling that movement introduces.

    I completely agree with u in most of them, the only thing that i don't agree is removing jitteraiming
    not because i use it, because it will probably break aiming itself just to "fix it", is indeed unfair for the people that do it really well and even dangerous for them, but i have a feeling that it will break everything for everyone if they try to do something and getting the gap between m&k and controller even bigger, which is not what i agreed on

    Im wondering what did they disagree on with then if the goal is ultimately to bridge the gap between inputs. People are always complaining about one or the other but i think the real problem is ultimately respawn werent taking necessary action on doing that themselves.

    imo: we probably need some "skill nerfs" on some movement tech, and by that i mean making the input way easier. if jittering your mouse till you get carpal tunnel doesnt belong in apex, then hammering your movement keys till you get carpal tunnel shouldn't either

    Moving on controller could be possible if they switched sticks for menu cursor make back scrolling by putting the cursor at the top and bottom of the bag.
    For super jump we just need 2 jump inputs. If we could enable jumpin by clicking the jump and realeasing it would input it again. So essentially we'd double jump by simply clicking and releasing the same button.
    Also if we could have 1 side ways lurch with a legal way to tap strafe.
    Aa makes tapstrafing in front of people harder when i try to flick my aim so nerfing aa would be a W. I do believe that timing of superglides could be tweeked a tiny bit but it should remain a very hard mechanic to master so like tweeked a tiny little bit.
    However you should have to possibilty of doing what is possible when you play apex. If the same game is offered to different inputs it should be the same game.
    If they make a tapstrafing button for controllers they should make one for MnK as well where you can still hold W. They should turn tapstrafing into a game mechanic.

      Everything should be fairly easy to do but hard to master and understand. New players should be able to go in the range and tapstrafe once. Ive seen people quit the game because they felt like they arent even able to compete. That shouldnt be a thing. If you witness a better player it should motivate you.

    As far as I know, you can bind any joystick to WASD, so you could always have M+KB while still technically using a joystick. Also they should have you make the decision of your input device in the main menu and split playlists that way in my opinion.
    Also one question, why can't I change the mouse sensitivity lower than 0.1 in the config file? Can anyone help?

      Because rn console "players" who stack 2 consoles + 1 PC and dominate by jumping in close range 24/7 at least need a pc friend. And there is A LOT of these players in high tier lobbies, I wish that was adressed as well, then again aim assist is nerfed from 0.6 to 0.4, HUGE THANKS for that

    Me personally i would wish that Console players had accessibility to KBM like any other game that is no EA based ( i believe all EA games restrict console players from having KBM inputs) when pc are given the free will to choose which input device they wish to play on ... i wish that was the same for us . To top it off , to prevent multi-input devices in ones gameplay like Fortnite , they could have an option to lock input device within a game like Call of Duty Warzone . It will sorta help players form using Zen on their consoles because i tend to believe those who use Zen are likely to use it to play on KBM on their console more than to cheat in Apex but still . That's my POV as a suggestion - even it means just making Apex the only EA title to allow KBM on console

    I unfortunately play on a laptop and my keyboard can't really do supergliding really well with the spacebar + c method, I had a friend who offered to send me his superglide cfg files but I declined because I was trying to learn how to with space bar + ctrl, and it's paid off so far! I'm still pretty inconsistent with them but I can pull them off once out of every like, five tries it feels like, which is rewarding to see.

      @@MD-gx4bw it wasn't to remove tap strafe in itself, it was to remove configs as a whole, from neo strafing configs, supergliding configs etc, tap strafe nerf was just a by product, its not possible to just exclude that, but yeah i think everyone agrees that this round of changes to roller is an indication that ea should start bridging the gap between mnk and roller instead of slapping aim assist as a fix

      I have never been neo strafed and honestly, i've been seeing more MNK players do some ridicilous movement tech that I couldn't even dream of achieving with controller. (I only used tap strafing on controller for some basic things like a wall bounce into mantling the wall, or strafing around a corner)
      meanwhile now controller has been nerfed so hard that if we got someone behind us, chasing us, we can't get away since if we slide jump of a stairs to build speed, we're left in the open, instead of making a quick strafe left/right to go around the corner, breaking line of sight, they can do it easily, so why can't we?
      all the MNK andies who complain controllers are OP always just point at Aim Assist, meanwhile AA isn't even that insanely OP, if someone does movement tech they can easily outpace your AA and then some, hell, for most people who don't know how to abuse the AA system to the absolute max will be hindered if people start to move quickly, since they try to compensate, but their AA will also compensate which ruins it.
      and knowing respawn, they're gonna call it a day and be like "we did our duty, the game is rescued"
      I do agree that the differences between roller and MNK should be diminished more, give us a way to tap strafe, allow us to move in the looting menu. (we can still do that btw, if we just bind WASD to the d-pad for example, but that would disable the entire d-pad for me)
      meanwhile jitter aiming on controller still works perfectly fine, so the only thing they did was disable neo strafing, which I for one never had happen to me, seen it happen to some through videos, which yes suck, but ban those people, make it public and you'll see a lot less people use it in general since doing that can and definitely will get you banned. (doing actual neo strafing isn't possible unless you can quick tap every button so many times a second that you can rival some of the faster button mashers in the world)
      also, they could easily just now allow scroll wheel to be bound to WASD, imagine that, not AUTOMATING many WASD inputs past 1 single input, oh the irony. (some will even go as far as to get rid of the stopped in the scroll wheel so it rolls till it just stops naturally)

    I used Regular tap strafing on roller mainly bc the movement in the game was fun and I was already sorta good on controller and didn’t want to spend years learning how to play KBM just to do that. One thing I’ll say is the Neo strafe configs are cringe and same with most configs and they give the controller players who simply wanna tap strafe and use lurch mechanics a bad rep. For the health of the game ofc these changes are great, I just wish they gave us AT LEAST a forward lurch to use TS at its full potential.
    Note: I know they added a thing with octane but that’s still not enough since it’s limited ONLY to the jump pad

    Is stretch rez next? I use it because I have poor eyesight and need larger targets. I'm very casual, but I do enjoy playing even though I don't win much. It's very hard to see anything without stretch rez.

    I agree that controller should have some way to emulate scroll wheel input spam, like a holdable button that would spam the input for .5 sec. However, maybe it is just best to leave it at controller gets AA and MNK gets input spam.

    Mokey, would you consider programs like HudSight cheating? It is a third party program (technically a steam game) that simply allow you to create a custom crosshair. That's all but your phrasing has worried me a bit. The idea behind it is the same as the apex reticule colour changes. It just allows for your eyes to stay fresh and give your screen a definite centre.

    If i could have tap strafe back, and i only used the insta holster gun and tap strafe, i would happily say bye to AA, aim wins fights yes!, but being able to tap strafe round a corner can be the difference of taking the 1 bullet that kills you

    5:03 This would be so easy to deal with, write a mouse hook that checks the mouse event for the LLMHF_INJECTED flag and discard the input (and LUA scripts as well as every other automation software will trigger this flag). But yes it will break functionality for those with accessibility needs.

    i stopped playing apex months ago but when i came back i noticed that i cant superglide very well anymore, obv i used configs to superglide and while i see why people dont like it i think that for something like supergliding which is overall not very gamebreaking you should be able to not automate it but make it more reliable. the best way to do this being configs you can sit here and tell me that im a looser for using configs for supergliding and that its a skill issue but i j cba to sit in range and put in hours of work j for a simple movement mechanic that isnt actually game breaking

    I heavily agree that the gap between controller and MnK should be made a lot smaller because it would allow for a more consistent gaming experience and make the decision between inputs less of a competitive advantage question and more so which one the player prefers using. Right now I feel like so many players are using controller solely for the AA and it changes how the game is played. I understand the point of giving controller players AA as MnK aim is generally easier but when it becomes more consistent on the controller, the input that was compensated for having worse aim, then we start to have a problem. It needs to be reduced but even I can’t justify it considering controller can’t really do any movement after these changes.
