Most people don't seem to understand these refs, for the most part, are VOLUNTEERS. He probably worked all day and that slice of pizza may be the first bite he's had since breakfast. Have some compassion.
Some folks mistakenly think that, because he passed off, he shouldn’t be called for a charge. He still can. There’s nothing in the rules that says one has to be in possession of the ball to be called for a charge.
In my state we had a rule against hanging on the rim. I called a "T" on a player in a home game and caught hell. he eventually went pro and came back to the area in the summer. I officiated summer games and he came and played for a different team each week. Had no problems with him at all and we talked about the "T" i called on him at homecoming in his high school. After talking about it he thought it was the right call as he was just showboating...
Youth Basketball, especially AAU brings out the worst in adults, sometimes even the officials. It's interesting when these parents kids don't get all those D1 offers they thought they would get.
I saw John Stockton at a few of his kids games, back in the day, and he sat up high and just watched. He let his kid and his kids team have their time, he didn’t interfere in any aspect.
LOL at all the nba players who cant handle when fans talk to them and then want to show up at these games and complain to officials getting $20/game. Todays NBA is so soft.
"Talk to me with respect" because you are a peon and I am LeBron James! I'd respond with "Earn some respect, you child." "Somehow the ref thought this was a technical." The kid pulled himself up and brought his feet up almost even with the backboard. It was a technical.
“Eating pizza while reffing basketball” yeah lady he’s probably been there since 8 that morning calling back to back games. Let the dude eat a fuckin piece of pizza it’s not hurting you at all
I understand that it must be cool for everyone in the arena if there is an NBA player watching his kid. Still, they need to stay off of the court if they are not coaching. Both Carmelo and LeBron would have been tossed out if I was the referee.
Not a ref, but as a Dad volunteering to help at tournaments. Refs, although paid, are asked to work many games, many times because of time issues are hardly able to use the restroom. Let alone eat lunch. I don't want defend eating pizza while the game is going, but there are times when its not all what it looks like.
Had a game with a player like 34 with the facial hair and stopped things fast after I threw him out in the first quarter. he was not there to play basketball, he was just an enforcer for the team and I had no problem throwing him out.
no way that kid is actually crying on the court lmfao. if that was my dad he woulda smacked the shit outta me in front of everyone and made me finish the game and then run laps
While a lot of the parents are ridiculous, I'd like to see LeBron, Carmelo and CP3 get on the court and call an entire game. It's easy to criticize others.
When you got guys flexing and dancing after a layup (which should be a t)and not getting called for anything. I dunno about the dude that barely hung on the rim after the dunk and that was it lol
I worked football for 25 years and wrestling for 15. Our associations assign newer officials to junior high and kids league games so they can learn the ropes. Once you hit varsity level, the games move too quickly for them to keep up with the action. You aren't going to see too many state tournament level officials at games like these
Why do basketball players (CP, Bron, Melo) think any refs gives a damn about their opinion on calls? Or parents...or coaches. I've never seen a ref be like "well fuck Bob, I didn't think of it that way, I shall change my decision on the call."
My grandson plays 11U. We have great Refs. They are always giving my grandson great little hints. On Saturday one of the refs said quit going in for the 2 they are stuffing. Go get your threes. And that is exactly what he did. Made 6 of them. They could not defend his 3 pointers. But on Friday they paid out side of the county. The coach is a lady. She had 2 Technical told to set down and shut up. She was out of the game. But would not let the asst coach either. One of the Refs called her a Bitch.
What are u talking about 😂 he’s just talking to the ref about a call or something your just weird 😂 If anything Carmelo’s words with the refs were way worse they stopped the game multiple times because of him.
Extra money, exercise, being around the sport you love. If you're good and take it seriously, the bad incidents are exceedingly rare. Calling a technical foul like the one with the coach arguing the charge call isn't even a big deal.
These so called refs are horrible.. My brother & I got kicked out of two gym’s for “harassing refs” watching his son play 5th grade B-ball. I would probs be in jail if I were at these horribly officiated games of today.. I don’t blame any parents for sticking up for their kid being pummeled on the court with no calls made by refs.. That is exactly what causes the most trouble on the court..
There are a few ridiculous Ref moments. But MOST of this video is the Ref making the right call and some STUPID Coach, Parent or Player acting like a ridiculous POS. Just because you REFUSE to know the rules of the game doesn't give you any right to act like you have never heard of SPORTMANSHIP. Fan Ejections should come with 1 year bans from ALL sporting events. You have to GROW UP people.
9:55 security to parents: "Please explain to your son when he gets home why the school district has kicked him off the team." (that's my smart aleck opinion.)
Imagine getting yelled at by Leborn for a call he didn't like against his son...that ref either felt horrible or powerful as he drove home in his 09 Civic to his 2 bedroom apartment.
"eating his pizza while he's refing, can't believe it." - lady that signed her son up for a free YMCA basketball camp.
Most people don't seem to understand these refs, for the most part, are VOLUNTEERS. He probably worked all day and that slice of pizza may be the first bite he's had since breakfast. Have some compassion.

You'd be surprised how much crying goes on in youth boys basketball.
The 5:55 technical foul call was valid. It's a technical foul if you hang onto the rim following a dunk
Not if you are doing it so you don't fall and hurt yourself.
