    I just shot my first wedding this past weekend. Similar setup on Sony gear. Wedding was last minute. The couple had been married back during the lockdowns, but never got a church wedding, and so at last this was a chance for a get together. Friends brought cake, she finally got to wear her dress, and they also get wedding photos too now.

    Cool video with the history and all the family growth to deal with... you did well. Years ago... in the days of real film shooting and processing, I shot four weddings. All done for friends that needed help with the cost. Everything was shot on a Konica Autoreflex T(2). Even though I have updated equipment....I would not consider shooting another wedding. I am just too old for that now.

    How amazing for you to do their engagement, then wedding, and now family photos! Congratulations!

    Interesting selection of equipment, I only occasionally will shoot a wedding, but ten to shoot events, I rely onto Canon dslrs 7D &5D class with old reliable 16-35, 24-70, and 75-200 all L f2.8s, For artful light I use a flash and Gary Fong diffuser. I rarely hav an opportunity to pose subjects. btw2 I've recently resurrected an old Leica M3, Bronica S2 and Mamiya 645 1000S. Taking a break from having to choose the right program settings. Just ASA, shutter speed, aperture and EV for filter compensation. Bliss!

    While I would have my Z 9 there, it would likely be the secondary camera. I’m loving my Z f. Since I know I’ll need to shoot at f/4 or smaller, the Z 24-120/4 would be my primary lens on the Z f and I would have the 70-200 on the Z 9.
    I’d take extra lighting and reflectors along. I wouldn’t need much more.

    I stopped photographing wedding and portraits just because my heart wasn’t in it. These are all great choices and being comfortable with the gear is much more important than any brand choice.
    Good luck on the shoot and while you might not be able to show the photos, perhaps you could let us know how it went.

    I agree with everything you are bringing, I would add maybe a 35 for more documentary look (I know that 24-70 can do that too), if outside I would go with 135 (that lens to me is the 85 for outdoors), depending on the sun, cPL or ND filters?

    Great insight on the business and gear aspects when doing a real world project-- Obviously Raymond gave them great service and that's why they came back.I wouldn't mind seeing how you overcame the tough daylight conditions sometime iif you could re-create that somehow-- I always learn from this channel--Thanks

      We avoided the sunshine by shooting in the shade. We were at a resort so there was a lot of shady grassy areas. :)

    For me it would be the Nikon Z8 and Z6ii. For lenses, I would do the same but I will throw in the 50mm 1.8s just for fun (f1.4 is way too big and heavy and quality is not a big difference). Have fun taking photos of the whole family.

    A few years ago I was asked to photograph my wife's supervisor's outdoor wedding. It was on a harsh sunny afternoon, in the direct sun, and I found out after I got to the wedding site the groom and his father, who was standing up for him, best man were allergic to the sun (Photodermatoses). Within minutes, both father and son were covered with bright red blotches. As soon as they were pronounced husband & wife, I moved them to Shade under a giant oak tree. They wanted the family photos shot next to an arch, back in the shadr. I compromised with them, and we took family photos with their backs to the sun which created a set of lighting issues. We waited a few minutes to see if some of the blotches would go away, at least a little. We hurriedly did those shots, moved under the oak tree, and shot more.
    Sometimes you just roll with it and hope Adobe will help in processing. Side note: that was my first wedding.

    For your basic course (and may also the others) by most video’s it’s possible to use the subtitles. But not every video. At some the possibility is off. I need them because I am Dutch. Is it possible to change that in your settings?

    do you take a wide angel lens also like a 13mm ?

    • @LeighAndRaymond
      @LeighAndRaymond  Před 6 měsíci +1

      No, the widest we had was the wide end of the 24-70mm. We had plenty of room to back up when needed though. :)

    I would swap the two viltrox primes to the Nikon Z F/1.8 S.
