Yeah I just got one and I was surprised. I thought it was hype but the XDM trigger is amazing. I would have to spend some serious aftermarket money to get a Glock trigger to run like that.

I agree 100% with ya I'd definitely be searching for one of these if I didn't already hold the g29 near & dear to my heart. You basically got a 357 mag with double the capacity in a small semi auto that can go with you from the city to the woods and have you covered here in Wisconsin only in the summer might be a pain with just shorts and a tee. I totally agree. I will be adding this for sure. love my G29 but so fat to carry. I can carry a G19 size very well. As a glock fan I will admit sigs have been my main go to lately but this is putting Springfield back on my list.

I absolutely love mine. I’ve got the Holosun 507K vs the 507C on mine found a plate from C&H Precision that fits the slide near flush. This is my EDC, very controllable, with Buffalo Bore and Underwood.
I just picked one up a week ago and love it so far! Once I registered mine for warranty Springfield gave me a discount to their website so I took out the flared magwell and ordered 2 extended 15 round mags for $31 each and love it now…can’t go wrong with 15+1 rounds of 10mm! 👍
Awesome video chuke. I just got back from taking mine out for the first time and Holy shit! This is the definition of a hand cannon. Shoots phenomenal! It definitely punches back but knowing I'm shooting the most powerful handgun cartridge on the planet, well I can deal with a little recoil!
I have the Springfield XD(M) 15 and 1. Love it, incredible firearm. Never associated the Springfield with hand guns, now I own 3. The 9mm/10mm and the 45acp. Just amazing!
That first fake reset sound for what I have found on my both 9mm XDME is that the trigger has a little over travel. You can fit a piece of plastic credit card width to the back of the trigger and sand it until the fake reset is gone. And as plus, the wall to break and reset will be reduced, making the trigger even better.
I'm a mainly M&P guy, with a few Glocks as well. I bought the M&P 4" 10MM...It's had it's issues, but now runs quite well. At the time, this was either so new, or I just didn't know it existed. That said, if I had it to do again, I'd have went with this XDM 3.8...That's a sweet gun. My "Compact" 10MM option is a Glock 30SF w/ 10MM Barrel and mags. Similar size to this XDM minus the fairly drastic difference in width...Walther PDP SD Pro is up next on my list, after that.....I may try to find one of these. Great vid...>Cheers.

Bought one of these with the hex dragonfly a week ago and it came with the plate. Also was able to go and get the free plate as well. So now I’ll have 2 plates to cover more optics if necessary
I must have sasquatch hands because I would never want to go smaller than my G20. I need that fat grip and the Large backstrap extension. It brings the gun grip out to me, so I don't have to squeeze my hand down so hard in order to meet the gun. With my XDM-10-5.25, the grip is officially only 0.1 or 0.2 inch narrower, but the combination of narrower width and large surface nubbins means this gun slips around in my hand more than the Glock. After 20 min, I could feel hand strain. After an hour, and I had to stop. Griptape was a must for me. The Tanfo Match grip was a bit narrow and smooth stock too, so it slipped around a bit in my hand, and the all-steel construction made that even more noticeable. But LokGrips palmswells made the Tanfo fat and textured where it needs to be. I would caution anyone against going small for comfort and convenience of carry at the expense of controllability of this snappy caliber. I happily sacrifice a little comfort to keep these beasts under control.
Agreed, I've been carrying mine for over a year and I'm used to the bulk of the gun. I've held the 29 and I'm only able to get 3 fingers on the grip. I wish glock would come out with a g19 medium sized 10mm.
Yeah man! Why not concealed carry a desert eagle size sidearm? Thickness isn't an important dimension when it comes to a concealed piece is it? Seriously though, that added recoil is a consequence of slimming and shortening a gun down for practical carry. If you need to use it - you're not going to be worried about how it hurt your hand over a 20 minute range session. This XDM 10mm compact is an outstanding option for guys who may ever need that kind of firepower in the most comfortable to carry package possible. You're not buying this gun to take to the range and shoot for an hour straight

IT WAS VERY ENJOYABLE! i saw you carrying the 45-70,i believe was the Marlin version. i have one also. then on your chest holster, which i believed was a 44mag. i was hoping that you confronted a bigfoot, and from what i learned from you videos is if anyone can take one down, it was you,lol. keep these shows coming and i hope you enjoy success in this endeavor!
Totally agree that Glock is dropping the ball in terms of innovation. I have a G29 Gen 4 as my woods carry pistol and I love it. But, I had to upgrade the sights, the trigger, and the barrel to make it perfect. I recently did a video in which I shot a few different carry pistols and recorded the times and accuracy. The overall winner was the G29. Considering picking up the SA for a new do-it-all carry pistol.
I don't want to buy a springfield because of what they did in Illinois...but no one offers an alternative. The G29 is a chunky gun compared to this and NO optics option and a 2 finger grip.
I really like my glock 29, I just ordered a stainless steel recoil spring assembly to try out, I really wish that glock would put out a 12 round glock 29 magazine. The Springfield armory is a extremely attractive pistol, I think glock has rested on their laurels for too long, and this Springfield may take a chunk out of their glock 29 market.
I just picked up one of these with the Hex Dragonfly. The gun is awesome, the Hex Dragonfly sux. The red dot has a horrible refresh rate and the dot flickers / disappears when moving the gun. The Holosun is a much better option for this pistol. I am a glock fanboy but 3 days after getting this pistol . . .I sold my G29 because I knew that I would never carry the G29 again when I can carry the XDM. What got me super worked up is the fact that I can take the full size XDM frame and run it with the compact slide if I feel the need to carry a 15 round mag. The biggest problem with the XDM 10mm is finding them. Springfield just will not produce enough of them for whatever reason and they are almost impossible to find.
For a concealed carry I personally prefer my SIG P365 9mm and my 10mm for a woods gun. I definitely get the draw of having an all in one gun though! Might need to get another one...
Awesome review, I have one coming now and I should and pick it up this week, I had a G29 but sold it so I knew that I didn't want another one before I seen this one and no LGS had them so out of my frustration some one on CZcams subject me looking on Palmetto State Armory and to my amaze they had them and I immediately I bought one. This is going to be my edc when I get it I have already order an holster for it. Now watch Glocks come out with something just a small like the Gen5 G29 and oh yeah I order some talon grip rubber for it I didn't get the red dot.
Love my 10mm Xdm after 100 rounds I left the range with a Sprain wrist that lasted a week with the first noticeable pain 30 minutes after no longer using the firearm.. it’s my first firearm and I love it I was attempting to practice for using it as my carry firearm… I’ll only run 50 or so next time at the range 😂
This is my favorite carry gun. This paired with a Muddy River Tactical iwb holster and a Nexbelt is the most comfortable carry setup I have.. easy to conceal, fits great. I only wish Springfield offered more accessories/aftermarket support.. I'd like a threaded 3.8 barrel and co-witness night sights for a roland special Lol.. I also don't like how the optic cut doesn't support any red dot direct mount. I'd like to be able to use the smaller 407/507k too. I did find some company that makes threaded barrels for the 10mm compact but it's like a 6 week lead time and cost over $300.. F That Lol.
pierce Grip makes a base plate that allows you to remove the maxwell and still gives you 11 + 1. It also comes with a slightly longer mag spring. It is much more comfortable to shoot without the mag well and the new, longer base plate is a great place for your pinky.
I just saw one of these at my local store here in southeast and it came with a red dot. The grip was just a bit to small for me. What I’m waiting for is a sig 320 in 10mm
Just looked at them two days ago at my local gunshot. Didn't Really care for it much and told the guy that I wish smith and wesson had a 10mm out he said wait till next week because smith and wesson just released one. Great review brother.
I like the gun a lot, I just wish the OEM 15 round magazine was more stable when used. It wiggles a bit when put in but other than that, its a beast. Does that holosun optic require a plate to use it or no?
I'll stick with my Glock 29 Gen 4 and my Glock 20 SF Gen 3. I just finished getting the Holosun HS507C-X2-ACSS for both of them. My G-29 I'm able to hit my steel 12" plate at 100 yds the Holosun has turned my G-29 into a valuable hunting pistol out to 30 & 40yds.
Wish they made an MOS version....and a gen 5 version. It seems glock is turning it's back on 10mm. Heck, I would settle for an updated G20 with a chopped grip, but no luck.
Hey good review put about 200 rounds thru mine and its flawless nice tight groups out to 20 yrds with iron sights, ordered the 15 round mags from the factory, where did you find the code for the base plates I have a 507C Holosun also that I need to get it mounted. Why not include all (3) base plates for it in the box come on Springfield. Happy Thanksgiving dude.
I was thinking of getting this and then switching my EDC to this. I'm getting confused on ammo though. There are no ballistic tests for the 3.8 barrel. Also all the top rated 10mm self defense rounds are totally unavailable anywhere. Down to looking at Hornady Critical Duty or Hydra Shock 180gr. Neither of these rounds though are full power 10mm and really don't bring much to the table over a 9mm or .40. This ammo shortage is really getting old.
Ammo is out there. The good news is that tests show that 10mm doesn’t suffer much from shorter barrels. It likes longer ones, sure, but ballistics and chronos from the Glock 29 (shorter barrel than this) are quite impressive.
Here's why I carry something else: The G29 came out a long time ago, and I already spent a lot of $ getting it milled for a green dot, getting holsters, buying mags, etc. Would it really be worth it to switch over to the new thing?
Get a TALON adhesive grip and it really keeps the pistol planted in your hand and tames down its bucking. I use the rubberized version as the sand paper will rub you raw in conceal carry. Get the grips, Their amazing.

Gun shop did have one today when their dropping off my 7mm rem mag for service needs fix it so it will extrat a spent rd out of that winchesters m70. Also think trading my 300blk but want low ball me down to under 500 . For 900 gun said marker on ar15 drop out. Lol he's selling new ones close to 600 still
Reason it’s thinner is because Glock continues to use polymer mags that are bulky. If they switch to metal mags you could have the same capacity with a slimmer grip. Glock needs to change their ways if they want to stay on top!
I just bought the 3.8 springfield today! I looked at the s&w 10mm and I can't describe how crappy the trigger was. I also have the 4.5 10mm. I'm not a glock fan!! I did get rid of my 44 mag. Just to heavy. For me.
Say Chuke I have a Glock 20 but do you really feel that the Springfield elite has more felt recalled than the Glock 29 I was considering a second 10 mm and I was considering the Glock or the Springfield. Anyone else wish to comment?
i got one. why is there such a large opening at the rear of the slide? i can see springs and mechanics easily through it. doesnt make any sense, where dust, dirt and water can easily fall in there. i thought something might have gotten broken off but i cant see where anything was broken
@@ChukesOutdoorAdventures im actually thinki8ng about selling it, for that very reason. i mean, that opening is kinda huge considering its on top, in a carrying position. and the position itll be in a large percentage of time. it pisses me off i didnt notice it beforehand. id only seen vids of it, then asked my gun store to hold their last one for me. it was a dimly lit store as well
Chuke my Glock 20 is the SF frame. It is before the or same time as when the gen 3 came out. You would love mine. But mine is not the g29sf. So there’s no confusion. Peace brother.
Chuke, have you had any issues with FTE? When manually ejecting snap caps I’m experiencing 2-3/5x a round getting jammed against the top of the barrel or at the top of the slide. Nervous about taking it to the range given the malfunctions.
@@rockie307 after taking an introductory class this evening, we’re chalking it up to operator error. No malfunctions in 60 rounds stopping ever +/-6 and clearing then assessing and adjusting grip, trigger press etc. REALLY happy with the trigger and re-set! Shot 180-230gr loads and it performed flawlessly and as accurately as I was capable for my first time.
I carry a Glock 29 SF, well here in the mountains in Colorado, is the Springfield lighter & how do you think the reliability is on it? Im pretty tough on my Glock, hunt some nasty country and fall down alot

I carry my g29 in a tulster holster no problem try it out to see if it works for you

It's easy to shoot fast for me, but I shot it with doubletaps 200gr hardcast among several others, and I can say the magwell helps with felt recoil.

My hex dragonfly doesn't even zero straight out the box for it.
Can you put the longer xdm slides on the compact grip? My issue with concealment is the grip not the barrel length
Love mine. Having trouble finding a compatible holster. And I bought the extended mag with matching back strap. 15 plus one like a Glock 20.

Living in Indiana I just carry a glock 19 everywhere. Scariest things in the woods here are wild dogs and meth heads.

pierce Grip makes a base plate that allows you to remove the maxwell and still gives you 11 + 1. It also comes with a slightly longer mag spring. It is much more comfortable to shoot without the mag well and the new, longer base plate is a great place for your pinky.

I just saw one of these at my local store here in southeast and it came with a red dot. The grip was just a bit to small for me. What I’m waiting for is a sig 320 in 10mm

Glad you like it , I will stick with 9mm in that size > G17 the 19 is too small for a good feel .

Just looked at them two days ago at my local gunshot. Didn't Really care for it much and told the guy that I wish smith and wesson had a 10mm out he said wait till next week because smith and wesson just released one.

You can use the 15 round mags with a grip extension to have a full grip
Tried it with the magwell and it was a no go. I will try it again without it. The shop didn't know if it was removable,.
I like the gun a lot, I just wish the OEM 15 round magazine was more stable when used. It wiggles a bit when put in but other than that, its a beast.
Does that holosun optic require a plate to use it or no?

I'll stick with my Glock 29 Gen 4 and my Glock 20 SF Gen 3. I just finished getting the Holosun HS507C-X2-ACSS for both of them. My G-29 I'm able to hit my steel 12" plate at 100 yds the Holosun has turned my G-29 into a valuable hunting pistol out to 30 & 40yds.
Wish they made an MOS version....and a gen 5 version. It seems glock is turning it's back on 10mm. Heck, I would settle for an updated G20 with a chopped grip, but no luck.
Is this a direct mount or using an adapter plate for the Holosun 407c? Can you use the 507K on this gun?
Hey good review put about 200 rounds thru mine and its flawless nice tight groups out to 20 yrds with iron sights, ordered the 15 round mags from the factory, where did you find the code for the base plates I have a 507C Holosun also that I need to get it mounted. Why not include all (3) base plates for it in the box come on Springfield. Happy Thanksgiving dude.

I was thinking of getting this and then switching my EDC to this. I'm getting confused on ammo though. There are no ballistic tests for the 3.8 barrel. Also all the top rated 10mm self defense rounds are totally unavailable anywhere. Down to looking at Hornady Critical Duty or Hydra Shock 180gr. Neither of these rounds though are full power 10mm and really don't bring much to the table over a 9mm or .40. This ammo shortage is really getting old.
Ammo is out there. The good news is that tests show that 10mm doesn’t suffer much from shorter barrels. It likes longer ones, sure, but ballistics and chronos from the Glock 29 (shorter barrel than this) are quite impressive.

Here's why I carry something else: The G29 came out a long time ago, and I already spent a lot of $ getting it milled for a green dot, getting holsters, buying mags, etc. Would it really be worth it to switch over to the new thing?
At this point probably not. The G29 is solid anyways.
Get a TALON adhesive grip and it really keeps the pistol planted in your hand and tames down its bucking. I use the rubberized version as the sand paper will rub you raw in conceal carry. Get the grips, Their amazing.

Gun shop did have one today when their dropping off my 7mm rem mag for service needs fix it so it will extrat a spent rd out of that winchesters m70. Also think trading my 300blk but want low ball me down to under 500 . For 900 gun said marker on ar15 drop out. Lol he's selling new ones close to 600 still
Just bought this gun but having issues finding 10mm ammo for it. Where are you guys finding ammo. I’m in South Carolina
Reason it’s thinner is because Glock continues to use polymer mags that are bulky. If they switch to metal mags you could have the same capacity with a slimmer grip. Glock needs to change their ways if they want to stay on top!
Just got mine last week and had try shoot a few underwood through it.. the recoil of 155gr underwood not so bad in this pistol.
I just bought the 3.8 springfield today! I looked at the s&w 10mm and I can't describe how crappy the trigger was. I also have the 4.5 10mm. I'm not a glock fan!! I did get rid of my 44 mag. Just to heavy. For me.
What are your thoughts on the rear plastic slide rails on these guns?
Actually got the .9mm but after hearing all the rave about it I’m definitely going to get the 10mm soon.

Say Chuke I have a Glock 20 but do you really feel that the Springfield elite has more felt recalled than the Glock 29 I was considering a second 10 mm and I was considering the Glock or the Springfield. Anyone else wish to comment?

i got one. why is there such a large opening at the rear of the slide? i can see springs and mechanics easily through it. doesnt make any sense, where dust, dirt and water can easily fall in there. i thought something might have gotten broken off but i cant see where anything was broken

@@ChukesOutdoorAdventures im actually thinki8ng about selling it, for that very reason. i mean, that opening is kinda huge considering its on top, in a carrying position. and the position itll be in a large percentage of time. it pisses me off i didnt notice it beforehand. id only seen vids of it, then asked my gun store to hold their last one for me. it was a dimly lit store as well
Yeah I thought the XDm has an amazing trigger as well but looks like they up and made it better.
If you shoot the lower lighter grain super fast 135 grain Underwood rounds it is very light in recoil and nasty nasty on targets.
Chuke my Glock 20 is the SF frame. It is before the or same time as when the gen 3 came out. You would love mine. But mine is not the g29sf. So there’s no confusion. Peace brother.

Chuke, have you had any issues with FTE? When manually ejecting snap caps I’m experiencing 2-3/5x a round getting jammed against the top of the barrel or at the top of the slide. Nervous about taking it to the range given the malfunctions.

@@rockie307 after taking an introductory class this evening, we’re chalking it up to operator error. No malfunctions in 60 rounds stopping ever +/-6 and clearing then assessing and adjusting grip, trigger press etc. REALLY happy with the trigger and re-set! Shot 180-230gr loads and it performed flawlessly and as accurately as I was capable for my first time.
I found a holster from 1836 that fits and is optic cut if I decide to add one later.

I carry a Glock 29 SF, well here in the mountains in Colorado, is the Springfield lighter & how do you think the reliability is on it? Im pretty tough on my Glock, hunt some nasty country and fall down alot
Very reliable. Springfield torture tested them before release. I’ve owned 3 and never had a malfunction with one.
