The color gives the trailer sort of a “Frank Lloyd Wright” style, incredibly unique!!!
Frank Lloyd Wright? I don't agree.
Ummm no,,I also have to disagree!
I have to say, I was hoping for grey but it is certainly DIYfferent.
Vintage? Nope. Modern? Nope. Weird? Nope. It's DIYfferent!😁 I think it looks GREAT! Can't wait to see it all done!
Black exterior paint absorbs about 70-90% more heat (than white paint which reflects sun light much better), then transfers that heat to the inside of your home, so I'm always impressed when people own up and still decide to paint their house black, living in a hot climate. Insulation and barrier will help a bit, so I guess we'll see ("feel") how this turns out, once all is said and done. Can't wait for the results. Theory vs practice!
The reflectix heat barrier we'll be installing blocks over 95% of radiant heat, so it's like the black isn't even there. It won't be a problem. We've used radiant barriers and they are a great product.
@@diyfferentI can't wait for this installation! I'm super curious to see it installed!
This the only channel on utube that don't beg for money in use there subscribers no drama
I never mentioned it to you guys, but secretly thought that this old mobile home was a lost cause when you first took it on. I’m so happy you’ve proved me wrong. Through your hard work and perseverance, this home is going to have a new life and be useful for many years to come. The paint job is terrific and you are all doing a fantastic job.
My husband kept saying the same thing. He just sees their videos briefly, as he walks by to get to work on one of his own fix up and repair projects. I will be glad to see what he thinks as time goes on. They are doing a great job.
It doesn’t cost one single penny to be kind.
Black paint on metal in Florida summer 🌞. I think maybe you are over estimating the whole insulation r value and effectiveness of a radiant "barrier". It's gonna be an oven. That's why they paint trailers light colors.
I think you may be under-estimating the effectiveness of a good radiant barrier and modern insulation. We used radiant barriers and they work. They effectively block over 95% of radiant heat.
Speaking of ovens, they only have a thin layer of insulation separating you from the 400 degree heat inside and that insulation does its job pretty well. Don't worry too much. These systems are tried and true.
Bravo! Perfect 1960's Floridian Kitch! Brilliant!💙
It's DIYfferent!
Of course 😊
Paint color gives me "mid century modern" vibes.
Now I’d call this color scheme vintage/retro. It really does work with the home, great surprise!
I threw my hands in the air and said: YES .... YES .... YES !!! The choice in colour is FANTASTIC...
From an 82 year old great grandmother, who through her whole life chose shades of beige for whatever needed painting, I congratulate you. It is definitely vintage because that blue is seen on vintage travel trailers of that era. I so enjoy your family and your videos. You make me smile!
We love the two tone color. We love your videos
😊😊❤😂❤
3 tones 😁
Love it!!!!! Great family team work as usual and good music. Mobile home looks AWESOME! ❤ Smart move to cover the blades....less clean up....atta girl Ashley for thinking of that!❤
That paint job is cool, it looks great!!!!! I love the jobs that you two do on everything, you go the extra mile to change it if you don't like what you did first and I appreciate that. There's nothing like doing a job over again it's just so hard that second time so hats off to you both. Job well done !!!!!!!!
Fantastic! I was not expecting these colors. How awesome!!
No apologies! This little mobile home is saying "I am proud of what I am," and shows it off. It makes me smile.
Oh, my goodness, what a transformation! This ain't no run-down, ready-to-junk trailer any more. She's a beaut!! If mobile homes could preen, she'd be doing it, and she's the star of the neighborhood now! Don't know if you're planning a porch for the front door, but a covered porch with natural-stained wood and hefty posts would really set this old girl off!! Great choice of color, and great job done!
Are you sure thats the same mobile home? Heehee. I love that Florida shade of blue. Perfect crisp upbeat colors. What a pleasant surprise!
I think I’m most excited about this color!
I have loved my black board and baton with black windows.
It’s brilliant 🎉
Ohhh,
That looks so vintage. Very Cool!! You all rock!!!
That share of blue was late 50’s,early 60’s. Mid century modern for the win.
Looks Mid-Century Modern and I just love the colors!
Doug and Ashley, It’s nice to see how your family pulls together.
Black makes everything look smaller. Trailers are already small. Dust shows up bad on black cars. I had to wipe mine down every other day in rural FL. If I didn't, it would be brown in a week. The heat in FL is horrible. I cant even stand to look at black in the summer.
I thought the black was a bad idea because of how black soaks up heat. Sounds like you have that covered and I’ve learned to trust your design ideas. The white trailer you trimmed in red taught me that.
Amazing beautiful paint job ❤it
I couldn't agree more about the blue accent - it's like a delightful pop of color that brings the whole space to life! Mid-century modern interior - it's the perfect blend of classic/vintage and contemporary.
It needs a turquoise 57 Chevy parked in the driveway!
I LOVE black houses!!!! And the blue adds a touch of vintage to it. I hope you add a covered porch with wood posts!!!
That's why I love you guys Diyfferent❤
Teamwork makes the dream work! AWESOME!
Black ??? that’s your choice in Florida with the heat and the sun. Good luck.
The radiant barrier blocks most of the heat so it'll be just fine :)
I would call this color scheme mid century modern. That said, I live in the deep south and have never seen a black house. Most people are too concerned about the heat transfer to the inside. Many deep south homes will even paint their roofs white to reflect the heat. As the old saying goes, "whatever blows your dress up".
It looks like FLORIDA!! Lol. It has an awesome "tropical " feel. I must admit, I was shocked at first, with the black....but it has grown on me and I love it with the blue. Nice job as always guys!
Thanks!
Ms Ashley is always thinking of a easier & better way!! Mobile home is looking Amazing Mr Doug & Ms Ashley! Awesome to see Maverick & Ms Belle helping out! Great color choice, 💯
I've watched all your videos and I love them. You're a really good looking man. But can you please trim your beard very short. It totally distracts from what you are saying. But of course, it's just me. Keep on with that wonderful job on that home.
When you said " Bet you weren't expecting that", I had to laugh, that's exactly what I said to myself. It looks GREAT! Love the colors!
nice, makes an old mobile home actually look modern. although with all the work your putting into it, it basically is a new mobile home in an older shell
Much, much, calmer better looking, then all black
Yes I see the difference Doug and Ashley it's a pop of color and it's beautiful. Love Y'ALL take care ❤❤❤❤
The painting brought back memories. The first video of yours I saw made me a huge fan. You guys were painting a red section on a white mobile home. Then it rains and the red runs and you just moved on and fixed it, no drama, just moved forward. I have so much respect for your take on life.
Ah, memory's I've been with you from the start. So glad your out for the cold. I left Indiana, but where you were was so cold long than Indiana. I did Oklahoma.
My neighbor painted her house black, which I originially thought was to much, but she also planted a garden and when the plantings got going, everything popped and the house softened and now I love it.
I like the charcoal colour. Very modern and clean
The color is pretty, but I would not have went that direction because Florida is hot. My house was dark brown the first summer I lived here and it would bake in the California summer sun (I live in Redding, really hot here, we're talking triple digits all summer long). I decided to get bright white paint for my entire exterior. I painted everthing white, and my roof is also a light sage green. I love it. It reflects so much heat, and that is what I am going for. Considering it is mobile home with limited insulation that could be s problem without shade trees. It does look really sharp, though. But if anyone else is reading this comment, you might want to consider the region you live in and sun exposure before making such a bold choice. Congrats on the beautiful job you're doing
The reflectix bubble radiant barrier we'll be using blocks at least 95% of the radiant heat, so it won't be a problem. We've used it in various spots at our main house and it made a huge difference. It's a wonderful product.
@@diyfferent Maybe I will try that on a metal outbuilding I am thinking about constructing.
I love the blue against the black. I think I'd like it even more all the way around.
It's modern and vintage at the same time. You two are amazing.
Retro, that’s what it looks like to me. Some people really are into retro design. Looks great!👍
I love it. Looks both modern and retro.
This is one of my most favorite color combinations.
Definitely vintage! Love the color combo! It’s really cool how the windows all but disappear ❤
First let me say that the paint job turned out great!
I would never have chosen the black and teal…I actually think it’s ugly. But I also recognize that if we all had the same taste in color, it would be a very boring world.
You do you and don’t worry about what others think about your choices.
so many people are scared of black I think it looks great!!! people don't know but yea black keeps cool. I been painting for years, and I love it!!! great job 👍
Greetings from Texas. The house colors are actually quite nice. It reminds me of the art-deco architecture you see when visiting Miami. The colors are stark but apropos for your environment. Congrats on thinking outside the box - as you usually do. Doug and Ashley, you two are amazing. Blessings and good karma to the four of you. Hugs from Midland, Tx.
You all remain absolutely magnificent. Keeps me transfixed.
Was not sold on the black BUT... with the white & blue blocking, it's stunning. Makes me excited to see where that leads on the interior styling. 👍🏆
Those panel tools Ash and Belle are using are amazing. Painting the exterior walls sure makes a difference. Love it. The blue color you selected is way better than the baby blue. Now it looks less like an old mobile home. It is now more of a modern mobile home.
That video really show how much work can be done in just a few days .That grin you have Doug, when you do something (sneaky) is priceless. Belle is really growing up ,and is part of the unit now,she is not going to surprise anyone by doing so well in her future endeavours, which we are all looking forward to. ❤.
When I saw it all black it looked like a shipping container. Perfect blue for Florida, has a 50's, retro vibe. Way cool!!
I hear that house happily saying, "Wow! Look at me NOW!"
I love it! Congrats on reaching this amazing milestone, guys! So exciting!
The Paint LOOKS so COOL ! Nice touch with the Turquoise!
You will have more success with the paint if you maintain a 90 angle to the wall. Spray in longer strokes. Don’t tilt the gun too much up or down. You should also overlap by 50%. A light cover as it is will show spotty after it starts to degrade in the Florida sun and rain. Try to think of it like you’re painting a car. Not as forgiving as painting inside.
I genuinely love yall. So proud to be here with you to see this. Let's go.❤
The color combination looks fantastic
Wow!! Didn’t see that color comin’! 😂 very vintage!
I am so impressed by your painting techniques!
Definitely love the vintage look. Definitely looks like a vintage home in Florida. Classy
That blue is very mid century modern. Love it
It's your house and I'm glad you like it. I wouldn't even consider renting it--I could not come home to black and blue every day.
Ok. Love the blue!!! That looks fantastic!!!! 😎😊😍
I can see more happening as the deck gets built. What will be used for skirting will also play a part of your design. Good for you to enjoy what you like, instead of trying to please others.
The paint color reminds me of a ‘57 Chevy. Well done, Bell did great helping out!
I am absolutely fascinated by the strong reactions to your choice of colors.
It's your house and your choice! Goodness.
Of all the major projects you've undertaken on this house and property so far, this is, after all the easiest to undo, should it turn out these colors weren't ideal. Or, to retouch, should they fade over time.
Personally, I think it fits this mobile home perfectly, and I'm impressed by how well the white, blue and black work together.
Glad added the blue. Doesn’t black attract heat.
I loved it painted all black..it had class. Sorry, but the blue spoils it for me... but of course it's your home and your choice. Well done on all the hard work you have done ! You work really well together. I have followed you for years..before you had children. You have been, and still are my favourite You Tubers.) Hugs and warmest wishes to you all.
I think I'd call that avant garde
Love.. Love.. Love
the colors!! It truly looks like Florida!
Y'all r doing a great job!
I really hope the underpinning will cover that big rusty i-beam under the bay window. If not, please paint it black.
I really like the Retro look.👍👍👍
Not sure about the color turquoise but it’s your choice and $ not mine 👏👏 to each their own. ❤
Now that is beautiful. The solid black was far too much. I love that shade of blue, turquoise is one of my favorite shades. Very retro modern, which is actually a thing.
Looks awesome! Maybe 50’s vintage
The splash of color reminds me of your bus. I do like it. Makes me smile and perfect Florida color. We lived in Marion County, Florida for awhile and Florida colors are good memories.
I love it!!🙂👍🏻👋🏻 So unique!!💙
i like the black i stained my brick house dark grey
Love the MCM vibe. Skirting will definitely be the cherry on top. Keep the decor simple and finishes sleek.
Huge difference, looks so good.
Love the black and the white the blue threw me for a second but love it now . Great job Doug and Ashley
Condsidering the metal has varied levels of erosion, its not surprising that the color is different. Just needs more coats. I think the color you picked is lovely. Makes it look more inviting and less sun reflection. Good planning.
I would have loved to see a dark grey instead of black. I think that would have been a softer and more retro look. But great job on all the work you are doing! We tune in every day to see if you have a new video posted! We anxiously await!
We really tried matching it to the windows so they would blend in. I'm not sure that a dark grey would work as nicely in that regard.
Love the colors gives it a vintage twist
Sorry, have to say that I don’t like the blue! Better all black & white. Just my silly opinion. TYTY for sharing! ❤️❤️🙏❤️❤️
I agree.
The aqua is a great choice to go with the era of the mobile and I like the black for all the reasons you stated. Very nice. Now a lighter shade aqua in the kitchen and even lighter yet in the bathrooms😁 would be my choice👍
I L❤️VE the look of the black paint on your mobile home!!! 🥰🎶❤️❤️❤️ Beautiful with the second colour!!! 🎶🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🏡
Love the black. The blue not so much. My preference would have been more towards a light gray, but like the wife said to compliment the mobile home and not hide. BTW the tape idea was such a great idea for the paint edgers!! Looking forward to your DIYfferent take on the skirting!
Coming in with a thumbs up! It’s good to see ya’ll I’m sure this will be transformative
Blast from the past ! Definitely 1950's , 60's style . Cool !
Love it! Wow!! Bold choice!! Fantastic!! I love black and dark gray home and the pop of blue really sets it apart!!
I reluctantly confess I am not a fan of the blue, but thankfully my approval isn't necessary as it is not my property. My prayer is for God's continued blessing on your life. I enjoy your content very much.
That blue is very vintage and definitely Florida. Nice work, as usual.
It looks like the 50s looks amazing
It looks so much better already. You two really work your magic on a project!
I love it. I say it looks vintage with that pretty blue.
