Ah! What better combination of high culture than Bach and Peter Ustinov!
The violinist is my teacher, Rainer Kussmaul, the most natural musician i have ever experienced.
Fabulous!❤
Thank you for posting this! I have it somewhere on VHS but no longer have a player so it is so wonderful to be able to watch this program again.
Dear Mr. Galt, Just found this on UTube. Many grateful thanks. Our cups runneth over with these gifts - Bach and Sir P, you and Utube.
Thank you! I remember seeing part of this program back when it aired, and have been looking for a full copy of it for YEARS.
Thanks for posting. it is a treasure.
Thank you for sharing. It's wonderful.
I watched this show when it originally aired. Thank yor for uploading it. I think the show commemorated Bach's 300th year.
Thank you John! What a gift!
I had this on a VHS many years ago and it's so good to see it again. Thanks.
Thank you !
thanks for sharing.
Oчень древняя запись, технически неосвершенная во многих отношениях, но всё-таки представляющая интерес. Спасибо за её размещение.
What He had--that's OK for Him...
I wonder who are the violinists in the large piece. I think it's Itzhak Perlman but I don't know who the lady is...just a beautiful performance. It evokes a longing inside of me, like a heavenly beckoning...
I remember this. Ustinov did one on Mozart and Beethoven also, I believe.
I HAD ALL THREE. Good ol' VHS recorders! Ustinov did a wonderful job of narrating as well.
Another series featured the Tchaikovsky Competitions which was also great portrayals of the
musicians who have the near-impossible task of making it into the finals.
I remember seeing a Tchaikovsky competition special in the eighties…
Excellent introduction but I keep expecting Mr Ustinov to make an hilarious joke or mimicry 😀
Sorry, forgot to add the gift from the performing artistes .....
Qui es t la pianiste au clavecin ?
Who is John Galt, Ms Ayn Rand?
