- After being abandoned by his mother and suffering abuse in the foster system, Malachi Coleman and his sister were adopted by a loving family, but so much damage had been done, Malachi found it difficult to be kind to others, until the simple act of holding a door open sparked a passion for selflessness. Correspondent Steve Hartman reports.

His mother abandoning him on the side of the road made him feel useless and worthless. Opening doors for people and hearing “Thank You” made him regain a sense of purpose.
That mom persisted, and finally turned his life around. Great he followed through and is better and kinder for it.
People who are abusive should never be foster parents. Kudos to that family that adopted him and his sister.
Imagine how much despair a woman must be in to leave her two babies abandoned on the sidewalk?😭😭 So glad Malachi and his sister are flourishing with a loving family and with a purpose in life, born out of the trauma he experienced so young ❤️😭🥺
Kindness never goes ouit of style. I admire the character of this young man.
He’s blessed to have people who love him ❤
Good parents make a huge difference.
Kindness is not a zero-sum game. Malachi learned this earlier than most. Congratulations to him and his family.
It doesn’t cost a penny to be kind to anybody, but it is a shame that not many people in this world, can either answer, or give back in the ways that you expect them to.
Can we give Steve Hartman at least 4 minutes for his wonderful stories? 🙂
And all those kids who learn early in life to be kind, kudos to them as well ..
I'm tearing up just half way through this segment, Steve gets me every time!
Malachi an inspiration through ACTS OF KINDNESS A REAL MAN
As always Steve Hartman makes My day. A grey day in the Netherlands, but this beam of sunshine came through!
This story inspires me, the part about him realizing he could open 1 door & then another. We can all do that when we are feeling unwilling to be kind.
What a poor child to be left like that & then to transform his pain this way. Xoxo
Such a beautiful story! Thanks for sharing. May others follow Malachi's example.
Simple idea. Brilliant Mom. Neat family.

Ask him into your precious heart and he will be with you eternally🙏🙏

Kindness is oddity in America. That is why we put it on "news" shows....
❤️🙏
😢😢❤️ Hope it holds.
Are you kidding right now with this comment? You couldn't seriously actually mean what it sounds like you're saying. What a negative mindset, feel sorry for you & those in your life.
🙏🙏🙏
Amen

Hope .
I don't like his hairstyle, but I love his voice 😍
This seems like a nice way to say some cultures need to learn manners and lose the gangsta attitude. Guys be honest
Nice story. But you need that dog in you to make it to the league.
White savior complex.
Ugly comment complex
fatherless homes complex. Luckily he had some white saviors to help him since neither of his parents did.
the guy doing the nice things is not white
