@@mirfan3543 some people get irritation from the propelyne glycol used in liquid Minoxidil. Try to use nizoral shampoo afterwards to get reduce the inflammation/itchiness which could slow down your progress. If not, switch to the foam version which won't cause as much irritation. Any brand will work the same as long as the active ingredient is Minoxidil 5%.

If it lasts a bit longer than 18 hours and I use it every morning at 7 am, it means that I do it every 24 hours, so actually, to be on the safe side I would do it twice. also if I can't use it or I forgot for some reason at least I know that I'm covered by using the product twice a day. The foam is such a great product with zero side effects at least for me. It's so simple using it twice a day, it takes 20 seconds and I'm done.

DE51B0Y depends on the degree of hair loss at the side and back. If it’s to the same level as everywhere else get bloodwork done it could be a nutrient deficiency or thyroid problem. If it’s only minor thinning that’s usually expected with MPB.

  • @gutz1981
    @gutz1981 Před 2 lety +1

I remember when I started very early at 24 to save my crown. Did not help, made no difference. I stopped. It got worse over the years, I tried it again, saw nothing, more hair fell out (Yes I know about the shedding phase, I went past that for months still nothing) crown completely empty now. Got good coverage in the front, minus temples now, but that took way longer to lose and it actually was worse when I added Minoxidil to it as well and they are not so bad. I am at 40, I don't know what got into my head, but I still take Finasteride and Microneedeling to keep what I have, nothing growing but nothing is lost. I went back on Minoxidil 3 days ago for my crown (only used it for my empty crown) saw shedding again today in the shower after years of not seeing it. Got flashbacks of the failures. I have to stop. I do not wanna kill what good hair I actually do have at the front. I worry, Yes Minoxidil may give me some small results. But if I stop again, all the good front hair will be gone like the back hair. So, no, can't go through that again. Shampoos and Finasteride and microneedling are as far as I go now. Won't risk losing more. I often think Minoxidil was a huge mistake to start off with. I put off Finasteride since I was a kid in his 20s and 30s and was worried about side effects. Started it about over a year ago. Wish I had done that first. But can't deal with that chemical known as minoxidil. Its one of those things where if you are wrong, you lose too much and it never comes back.

Dr. Vikram and Dr. Russel, I apologize if my spelling is incorrect, thank you for the informative videos! I thoroughly enjoy them. Would love some advice if possible. My hair story is this: I started receding at a very young age. A dermatologist started me on Finasteride 1mg at the age of 21 QD. That stabilized my hairline for 5 years. At the age of 26 my hair line began to worsen. He then increased my dose to 2.5 mg of finasteride daily. My hairline stabilized again until this year (age of 33). 3 months ago I was switched from 2.5mg finasteride to Dutasteride 0.5mg daily. Over the past 3 months the hair has worsened considerably. Is a significant shed normal when switching from finasteride to dutasteride? Would you recommend going back to 2.5mg finasteride daily? This is really the opposite of what the good doctor is saying, plus I think (cmiiw) he also mentioned that once a day was in his opinion based on the half-life understanding and needed to be studied further by revisiting the manufacturer's twice a day recommendation.

My hairloss started, or I noticed it, in October 2022 - clumps of hair were coming out and my overall hair when I was washing it seemed sooo thin. I had covid on 7/30/22 and blood tests in February 2023 that showed ferritin at 14 and vitamin D at 24. So the dermatologist stated I needed iron IV and 50000 IU Vitamin D3. My levels were all fine by May 2023. My hair stopped shedding by February, but my overall hair is so much less dense - my ponytail is less than 1/3 of what it was. I do not notice bald spots or really a substantial spreading of the part but my entire hair is overall much thinner. I notice tons of new hairs but the front of my hair under direct light is very thin almost see through and honestly I don't notice those new hairs growing long enough. Is this really TE and not Androgenic Alopecia? Other than my father no-one else in my family has this. I am not on any medication and I am a 50yo female. My hair is not just in patches it is literally overall less hair and really more on the sides of my head. The hair is definitely lighter as well. So how do you determine if this is hormonal from the change of life vs androgen alopecia? Also, it has clearly been two years - so would oral minoxidil even help me?

Mostly because of how time consuming it was and the price. The main question i have is if i will regrow the hair that shed from the minoxidol. I honestly just freaked out and began using it when my hair was honestly not bad. I had no bald spots it was just thinning gradually. I really hope someone can help me out with this question.

Ive stopped using it for a little over a month. So i started st the end of March (so maybe around march 26 - 29) and stopped near the end of April.

Doctor , please answer my queries .1. I'm planning to take oral minoxidil , here I get 5 mg tab so I would like to cut it and take 1.25 mg or 1 mg , will it give me the same benefit as 2.5 mg .
    2. I'm not having any history of heart or renal problems , does it cause any side effects if I take 1.25 mg or 1 mg daily .( Or 2.5 mg daily)
    3. Can I take it for long duration like the topical version .
    4. If I stop the oral treatment , will the side effect go away or will it continue forever?( I mean the heart related problems ? )
    5. Is oral minoxidil life threatening for a healthy person ?
    Thanks , GOD bless

I went for face threading and stopped using.. I was happy that the hairs didn't grow back on my face and neck, but after stopping, got severe scalp hair loss which was worst than before when I started the treatment... I totally lost my self confidence, so I decided to reuse, after 2-3 days of using, I started getting bone pains in my fingers over night, I observed it but couldn't get to know the reason behind the pain that was similar to arthritis, which I had heard from old people... Later I used alternative days, I noticed the pain over night only on those days which I was applying. Fingers, wrist was so painful, I was weeping all nights and I couldn't sleep.. Then I got confirmation about the side effects. Later I never touched it.

If you are just joking then I apologize for taking you serious.
      .
      .

      .
It is a vasodilator. Meaning it widens your blood vessels in your head so your "heart" can pump more oxygen to hair follicles. Whenever you take a medication that effects the heart's function it can cause heart issues. And being a topical cream doesn't preclude any chemical from entering the bloodstream. Skin absorption is a common route of entry for chemicals to enter your bloodstream. Ever hear of a nicotine patch? Fentanyl? etc. There are numerous chemical and creams that can be absorbed through the skin and into the capillaries. Capillaries are how blood oxygenation is transferred throughout the body and CO2 is removed...

Hello! Long question but want to give you as much info as possible. I am a 30yo female struggling with hair loss. It started at my left template and slowly over the last two (stressful) years it spread across my hairline. I went to a dermatologist who did blood work and everything came back normal. She diagnosed me with androgenic alopecia even though my testosterone was on the lower side of the normal range and put me on minoxidil. I’ve been using it for three months and while I’m shedding like crazing all over my head I am seeing new growth on my hair line, where I apply the minoxidil BUT it seems like I am rapidly thinning all over and I have a few areas where I am starting to see scalp towards the middle and crown of my head. Can minoxidil cause shedding in areas where it’s not being applied? Or should I use the minoxidil all over my scalp now?

You should definitely fix your adrogen levels. The female body needs a healthy balance of androgen, testosterone, and progesterone! Tackling the source of the problem is where you can stop the thinning. If you research adrogen levels in females, one of the symptoms is hair loss/thinning hair. Hi doctors, I've started using minoxidil on my beard and after 2 weeks I started to see hair loss on my beard an thinning hair on my scalp..I have alopecia areata and my question is:
    1. Can minoxidil cause the alopecia to be worse?
    2. If I stop using minoxidil during the shedding phase, will it grow back to what it was before I started using minoxidil?
    Thanks a lot!

I’ve been on finasteride for 1y and this has maintained my hair status quite nicely. Started minoxidil 4 months ago (just started month 5). And i’ve noticed alot of shedding at the end of month 4. When can I expect shedding to stop / shedded hair to grow back?

    I have a question:
I started Fin 3 weeks ago due to some thinning on the hairline/temples.
Should I also jump on Rogaine now (sooner than later), or should I wait and see how the Fin goes first?

I did what you want to do and I've lost a lot of weak hair while the stronger thicker hair is fine. under a certain angle when light shines on my head you can see my scalp underneath it's really bothersome. I'd say use while you still got relatively strong hair. Fenastaride did not help me regrow any hair after a year. Then again some people claim that they can regrow hair with just fenastaride. If you wanna take the gamble then go right ahead.

TriHard 7 Sorry, are you suggesting that I use rogaine while I have stronger hair, or wait?
Currently I do have good hair. I just have a horrible M shaped hairline (which I cover pretty well) and now some thinning on most of my hairline.
I was just planning on using the rogaine on the hairline area

@@TheLradd yeah I would use rogaine for regrowth on temples because from my experience fanasteride does not work for regrowth only for stopping MPB from getting worse or in other words it halts the process.

@@tl1022 yo. I think Im at like 6 months of Fin, 5 months of rogaine (just on the hairline) and 4 months of dermarolling (1.5mm on the hairline).
I can say that ive noticed no difference.. maybe a stronger thicker hairline, but it def did not did not regrow hair in my receeding area.
But what I can say is I maintained it while making it a bit thicker and stronger.
I did notice shedding in the shower for the first 3 months

Have you used oral Minoxidil while having a pet? I'm just on Fin at the moment thanks to your videos, but in case I do add Min in the future, I will only use topical after seeing your videos on oral Min. I'm just worried about using it while having a cat as it's incredibly toxic and will easily kill them if they were to come in contact with it. I just wasn't sure if it's easy to avoid accidentally having it rub off onto something like your pillow.

Can I still grow bodyhair (beard) with minoxidil if I'm on oral finasteride? Because obviously I need dht for my beardgrowth.

Yes. Finasteride does not eliminate 100% of DHT (if I remember correctly, it eliminates ~60%) that's enough elimination (in most cases) to stop/slow down the hair follicle degeneration and leave the rest of DHT for other bodily functions.

@@Mo-fu9sm it will slow down beard growth so be aware of that. What I'm wondering is if you apply minoxidil to your beard and wether minox has a different mechanism to stimulate hair that doesn't rely on dht.
