To summarize: (microneedling for hair loss)
-Microneedling gives stimulation and blood flow to the scalp which promotes hair growth (regenaration) and produce collagen
-Ideal microneedle tip: 1mm or 1.5mm
-How many times should you do it?: Not more than 2-3 times a week (1x a week is enough)
-Don't overdo it and don't do it more than an hour, just a few minutes
-It has to heal and healing takes about 1-2 days
-It is not primary one of the options for hair loss, but just an ad-on (Minoxidil and Finasteride is still)
-Use only in areas where there are hair miniaturization, if the area is completely bald, forget it, it won't work.
thanks you
So if im trying to make my baby hairs (on my hairline) darker or more defined will this work? Im not balding I just have a crooked hairline lol
AlexanderNino it should work on every area of the body. The international experts all agree that the procedure stimulates any size of hair follicles. No, it will not darken your hair. This procedure doesn’t affect hair color. Sorry.
Thanks for the summary
My hairline is naturally a M shape. If I use the roller to the area where there’s gaps would it work ???
Actually I got my hair grown back with dermaroller where they have been lost completely for 3 years. And they grew back to normal within a year.
Without any medications? Or supplements?
@@IUtrumpetboy I used DHT blocker (not FDA approved) and minoxidil for 2 months, but fear the potential side effects, so I stopped them all about more than half a year ago. Supplements, yes, I need to increase intake of vitamin A、B2、B6、D and zinc according to my doctor's advice, because my body is short of these things. Microneedling and scalp massages to clear out fibrosis and calcification (may be the true reason for hair loss, not DHT, but DHT do play a role in this cycle. When you've been microneedling for months and start to see results, you may also feel your scalp becoming elastic, while many people using finasteride for months, and finally finasteride stopped working) and ensure proper nutrition and blood flow for your hair follicle, live healthy life and stay away from any kind of chronic inflammation, FOLLICLES WON'T DIE, remember this, have patience and stay optimistic, you will have your hair back.
Hawx Won I’m about to start microneedling again with a dermapen. Glad to hear you’ve had so much success!
So, you put your results down to: microneedling, massage (both breaking fibrosis and increasing circulation) as well as nutrition and avoiding inflammation. Is that correct?
@@Michael-gq9cd yes, in my opinion, those things work far more than blocking DHT, even if I significantly tapered off my regime, the regrowth didn't ever stop, I think' it's worth a try
Hawx Won do you need a prescription for a dht blocker or can you just go buy it? And do you know of any side effects from taking it? Just found my first pretty big bald spot a month ago, so I’m pretty new to all of this.
Its a good job they both have hair or nobody would believe them

Finally a reliable information source! Thank you!
Thanks
A great explanation for the hair loss treatment. Would help a lot of people in choosing the right hair loss treatment for them.
You guys kept your promise 👏🏽
Finally, a useful show on this topic
I really feel we are going to get at the absolute source of hairloss and release a surprisingly simple routine that both men and women can do in their youth to prevent hair loss. The future is bright. Stick to a regimen and report your results!

@@vanshajmaken8299 fuckoff you dumbass,..... please don't make assumptions and guarantee people when they're suffering as emotional issue as hairloss.....given a better diet will surely help but doesn't cure androgenic alopecia..... everyone here on this video are doing that.....or take example of homeless and beggars...who don't get even half of what you mentioned...still have a full head of hairs....so bruh please think before saying anything
@@vanshajmaken8299 you're one of those people who say "bro just get more sleep, drink water, and lower stress. All your hair will come back." Absolutely ridiculous.
@@vanshajmaken8299your statement " all these beggars and rickshaw puller" shows how dumb and undirectional you're when you're even trying to explain your point.
1. Beggars and rickshaw pullers are very different.... totally different in what amount of work they do what they eat
2. There's no way to quantify a beggar do a lot of Hardwork to ensure blood circulation....so are the people as fitness lifestyle is booming....so Calling beggars have added advantage just because they tend to roam on streets (even though not all beggars are fully fit or enabled) is right out foolish and dumb.
3. And if you wanna compare a diet of a beggar with middle class, beggars even survive on little rice(just carbs ) where's the vitamins, minerals , proteins now....point is a healthy diet is important....but just a diet is not root cause or sufficient solution for hair loss
4. Whatever is working for is good enough.... but not the only thing necessary....if diet is sufficient to cure there would be research on that too
5. Sure pumpkin seeds might have worked for you in the long run.....but first ensure you have androgenic alopecia , second which stage of norwood scale you're on, your age and then tell people how it curred your hairfall and make you look like a baby with full head of lucious hairs.....that would definitely help.
6. Nobody is arguing here diet is not necessary .....it's necessary but not a absolute treatment....sure natural extracts might work...and will surely looking forward of your research on how foods that can absolutely cures male pattern baldness

Thanks for the informative video guys.
There may be a difference between derma-rolling and microneedling with a mechanical pen.
The former may have further potential to damage the hair than the latter, as you are rolling and possible tearing the skin slightly.
The latter performs an automated puncturing motion which does less unnecessary damage to the scalp.
You wanna get medical grade. The thinner the needle the better .
I'm so happy I came across this channel. The information and advise given is just amazing. Thanks to the Hairloss show I took the plunge and started using Minoxidil in January and Finasteride in March 2020 and just started derma rolling. I did initially shed hairs, then before I knew it, I actually started to get my old hairline back! I'm 31 yrs old and I can honestly say my hair is back to how it was years ago! I can't wait to see how it will be after a year of using the treatment!
Broooooooo are u using derma roller ? What's ur results
Secondly, I’ve a suggestion for a video, where u talk about combining various treatments (stimulation & blockers) by degree of hair loss. That is, if ur hair loss is this much, then do this and this, if ur hair loss is this, then do this, this and this etc.
You don’t have to go into the depth of any of those treatments since you have in-depth video on each, which u can link in the description.
All in all, great channel. Keep it up 👍
Is there any chance of a derma-rolling routine? A video demonstration would be amazing :) especially showing what is enough and what is too much.
Thank you for asking my prior question about derma rolling

Guy on right keeps trying to psychologically establish dominance over guy on left. It began in the opening act of having him write the word on the board. That officially let the viewers know...”I’m in charge.” It didn’t stop there...
@@gB-gm7vy I was picking up the same thing lol.
The Dr. on the left ended up making his own “continuation” video after this one. Good for him, but I doubt that video will get the same play. Fact is - it’s hard to shake a first impression.
What are your thoughts on dermarolling vs a microneedling device? The logic being that the rolling motion creates a long triangular "slit" in your scalp as it's moving longitudinally as well as vertically, whereas a derma pen type of device goes straight in straight out making a "shaft" wound instead. Maybe more wounding = more growth factors? But you have to be careful about scarring and too much damage like you said
Using a derma pen would mean theres less of a chance of it damaging your existing hairs because its more accurate, but the process can take longer
Love you guys. Great trusted advice. Enjoy your videos!
Excellent video, very informative.
Im using 0.5 derma roller 2x a week..i apply minoxidil right away..also finasterude 3x a week since july 2020..amazing results..tiny hairs start to grow..thanks for ur show..

how is your results now?
Yes how is the results now mate?
This is great. However, there have been many people who have regrown hair in areas of complete baldness with combination of microneedling + minoxidil + fin/dut. So it is absolutely possible to regrow hair in areas where there is almost none left.
is it true
True, but these guys would be out of business if they admitted that it does work on completely bald patches, as it has with me (without Minoxidil or Finestride)

Great informative video. How long after a hair transplant should you dermaroll? Will it affect the transplanted grafts? Also, do you think taking 1mg fin twice a week is enough or too less for an actual impact.

An excellent and very informative video on derma rolling. But both you guys got me confuse about the size of needle used for derma rolling. Do you guys suggest 1mm or 1.5mm needle for an average person?
Docs, what’s a good dermaroller brand? The reason for asking is that there are many pseudo-dermarollers for sale online that don’t quite seem to be dermarollers of the sort talked about in this video

I love your show as it has become the bible of hairloss. Finally an honest couple of doctors who want to put how quality info!! By far you are underrated!! One Question: How long of using the derma roller weekly with 1 mm till someone achieves the maximal/optimal hair regrowth benefits?

Why these videos don’t have 1 million views ?
Thanks for the great info! This is exactly what i was searching for. I had a FUE hair transplant more than a year ago but my crown area is still very bold. Therefore I have decided to try minoxidil and derma roller and to record the results on my channel. Hopefully it will work 🙏. Finger crossed!

Hi there, any updates on your progress?
Thank you so much, i have couple of questions please, do you prefer Dermastamp than Dermaroller? Aslo what kind of topicals are recommended to apply after? Is it possible to use it everyday at depth of 0.25 to increase penetration of topicals? lastly could you please talk about combining dermarolling with Peppermint and Rosemary oil?
Pen is considered better from the standpoint of fewer and more focused wounds, but I think rollers are just as good. You may want to invest in a pen if you also intend to puncture your face for anti-aging purposes (as a lot of women for example tend to do), since you can modify easily the needle length. No topicals are recommended for the scalp after rolling. However, I continue my regular minoxidil routine 12h after the dermarolling session.
I saw a study that said 0.6mm was optimal for penetration. Now, depending on how much hair you have, your needle length needs to vary to account for the extra padding due to the hair layer. For a bald guy, 0.6mm, for someone with more hair, maybe 1.0mm is needed
Thank u for sharing this guys...i will try the derma roller watching from phils.sending my support
I can't say dermarolling has done much for my hairline, I'd attribute any of the hair progress to minoxidil once a day. But it has without question reversed the aging of the skin on my face. I dermaroll once a week on Sundays using a 1.5mm roller. Any wrinkles, blemishes, sun spots that I had on my skin are pretty much gone. The results for me were not immediate. I've been using it for around 12 months, and started to see big changes around 4 months.
Can you use the same roller on scalp and face ? Or is that bad
Thanks for your statement!!
Could you talk about vitamins and the benefits ? Biotin and folic acid etc ? Many thanks 😊
U r cute
Thank you, doctors 🙏🙏
i love how you think properly

Appreciate your honesty. I do agree people with female/male PHL have thin skin on their scalp so I think starting with 0.5mm depth would be smarter based off all the other videos I have watched. I am curious if you would address the different in the Dermarollers vs. micro needling for longer hair and also the difference the way the needles penetrate: 45 degree rotation creating larger wedge type incision vs. 90 degree straight insertion. If you could address this that would be helpful. With Covid more people are looking for treatments that can be done from home and are more reasonable than going to a clinic to get treatments. Thanks.
Which one is better? 45 degree or 90 degree for women with long hair?
I just started derma rolling. I will be back with update
Name a more iconic duo
Do you recommend using the roller with192 needles or the one with 540?
7:34 Oh so that's why it hurts so much more on the hairline.
So doing it once a week with a dermapen set to 1.5mm, for about 10 minutes, is a good protocol?
When it comes to light therapy, is there any significant difference between LED and Laser?
I can't even roll it on my former hairline, feels like I'm right on bone
Hi Drs. Jayaprakash & Knudsen, first off you both are awesome. I hope you are rolling in clients.
My Q: I derma-roll 1x a week with a sterilized 1.5mm roller post-shower. While I'm on minoxidil, I pause my application for 12 hours after the roll to avoid the possibility of infection. I've heard 24hrs is the shortest I should apply but is 12 enough?
My main motivation is convenience, as I usually apply minoxidil after showers (and roll on the weekend for added time and convenience).
(in case it helps I'm on Norwood scale 3-4, low hairline reduction, but thinning crown and derma roll my crown and hairline for good measure, probably 15 minutes each setting)
Great vid!! I was the 4,000th like btw.. it has never happened to me.. just thought I would put that out there ha 😁
Thank you Dermaroller has helped me massively
Are you using it for pigmentation problems ? I just purchased a device and i can’t wait to see if it helps me the way i believe it can.
@@biggbakari hey hun. I used it on my hairline. It grow my edges back fast. Well in 5 months. I was almost bald at the front lol. Definitely go for it I know it does so much and it's really worth it x
Should you avoid derma-rolling if you have scalp psoriasis?
Does it matter how old you are or how long you've been balding in choosing the depth? He said the skin gets thinner over time.
Age isn't a factor
1.5mm needle length once every 3 weeks. Press each spot 1-2x. You want to stop once you see erythema. There is no need to bleed. It takes a couple minutes for the erythema to begin so don’t worry if you don’t see it right away. I went over my scalp once time and it turned red after 3-5min. I see some people staring each spot 5+ times. There is no need. Also risking scarring by doing that. The reason for doing it every 3 weeks is that you want to give it time to heal. That’s where the benifts come. According to literature, tissue repair peaks at the 2 week mark and can last anywhere up to 6 weeks. But for a depth of 1.5mm, I don’t see a reason to wait 6 weeks.
Thanks for the informative video. would this make sense for alopecia areata? or is this just for androgenetic alopecia?
Great content as usual guys. It would be really good to see the benefit of oils like rosemary, castor, stinging nettle, onion juice, apple cider etc. Maybe you can debunk some theories or advise us to put it into our routine. I think it’s deffo worth making a video on it as there are many YT videos that make claims on these benefits. Thanks guys !
I'll be honest with you, I have very little knowledge of these things that you have listed. That is in no way saying that they don't have any benefit. I am not aware of the mechanism of action. The problem that you will find with a lot of these natural remedies is that there is not a lot of statistically significant data to explain how they work and how they are used. As I said, I am sure that they may be of benefit, I just myself don't know how.
The Hairloss Show thanks for your honest reply guys. Keep up the good work with the videos 👍🏽
They don’t work. Stick with min, fin, keto and rolling.

Eveeyday or every week?
Everyday? No no no. Once a week is enough
once a week. And dont use minoxidil after you dermaroll. Wait atleast 24-48 hours for the wounds to heal
@@unknownsource4359 Why not? It will absorb to the scalp which reach to hair follicles and becomes stronger. Isnt right?
Thank you for the summary, I was considering the Derma-roller... but since I am already essentially bald back there, I won't. What are my options? I really don't want to roll with Minoxidil to re-grow hair because as soon as I stop it all falls out. Talk about being owned for life, ya know? Will Minoxidil regrow all my hair if I'm below 50%?
Dermarolling by itself will regrow hair in baldspots.
What are the long term effects? Skin condition/quality? Do you need to keep doing this forever?
Why Dr Russell hasn't tried it?
Thank you for another informative video. Really appreciate it. Since you are covering various stimulation procedures, what do u think about headstand (a yoga pose)?
Yes inversions work 100%
There are people who say Dermarolling isn't good because the hairs grown in patchy areas are only vellus hairs. But cosmetically the difference is major and is the difference between a patchy and shiny head in pictures v.s what could look like a full head of hair. There is a whole industry of tattooing the scalp [micropigmenting] for that very reason. Dermarolling is great.
Watching this for Beard Growth!!
Question: would you use this after showering or before. Also, would you apply minoxidil after a sesh or before?
I heard giving it 24 hours after microneedling not right after to add minox..but I heard after 12 hours you can add oils or other tbing so im assuming the same with shower
Can using a derma roller (1.5 mm or 1.0 mm on thinning areas and areas with miniaturized hair) cause scarring that might interfere with an FUE (or FUT) transplant? Great show by the way, very informative. Thank you for providing it.
If it's too long, or you use it for too long in one go, or too much, then it can cause scarring, dont over do it
