    Great install video, I feel fully prepared for when mine comes in this week. Not sure what’s up with all the weird, negative comments, you did everything very well.
    It’s also refreshing to see an attic that doesn’t look like a condo. Mine is the same way; crouch only, loose insulation, no plywood to stand on. I plan to improve it at some point.

    All the fans 3000 and above are 3 speed capable. all you need to do is gently pull the conduit back and it will expose the 3rd wire. You will know for sure if the motor is 3 speed capable because it will be on the actual fan motor lable. Once you get the conduit pulled back you will see it has been capped off. Run a wire off of that using a wire nut and and some electric tape then run the new wire down the conduit run. using that RF remote (which I recommend) you wire it using the 3 speed set up. Blue to blue, Red to red, Yellow to the wire you had to install off the motor, and the blacks to blacks and whites to whites. Run the ground from the power cable to the ground inside the RF box. Done. Now you have 3 speeds not two. I have no idea why they did not run that third wire down throught the conduit run. It is much better to have a medium speed if you want... not just a High / Low speed. Hope this helps.

    I currently have a smaller older ES-2250 that's been great during the hot summer months to cool the house in the evening and early morning. It would have been nice to have the wireless feature in lieu of the wired controls. Nice video.

    Thank you for sharing. What's the recommended outside temp to turn on fan? When the fan is on high setting, is it really loud to hear across rooms?

    • @Myksgarage
      @Myksgarage  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Really depends, for me if the outside temp is below 70 degrees I'll turn it on, and it's not that loud

    I think that you mention two speed. Isn't that fan a three speed fan with an EC motor? I see that the wireless controller has low med and high. Also, Have you automated it, maybe with a cell phone app?

    I have a QC ES-6000 and I can not get the duct off the fan to take the fan up to the attic. Even with the latch unhooked, there is not enough slack to pull the duct off the fan. Any ideas how to get the duct and fan to separate?

    I like the idea but I’m confused on this.. because if it’s suppose to help with the house getting cooler why would I want my windows open? Do I leave my windows open and then turn the ac on?

    • @Myksgarage
      @Myksgarage  Před 11 měsíci +6

      You turn off the a/c open the windows and this will suck in the cooler air from outside to cool your house. If it's 90 degrees outside you don't use this. You only use this fan when the outside temperature cools down like at night time.

    You have a beautiful home, but you are going to want to remove all of that carpet and use rugs. I grew up in a house without AC in Texas and we used an attic fan, which is essentially what you just installed. We did a yearly spring cleaning, like all people did back then. We had to, in order to clean the dirt and dust from the house. Spring cleaning involved removing every single thing from inside the house and cleaning the house and the rugs and furniture. Every single thing came out of the house. Every piece of furniture, drawer including stuff from the closets. Washed the walls and cleaned the ceilings. Everything got cleaned piece by piece and replaced.
    You could not pay me to put an attic fan in my home. Modern homes just aren't built to be cleaned like what is required to have a "clean" home when using an attic fan. Think about how dirty your AC filters get. You are going to get that times 100 by pulling unfiltered air in the windows. Plus you are going to suck/push a hell of a lot of dirt from your attic into your home through every ceiling penetration you have, unless all of them are sealed in air tight fire-proof boxes. I also have can lights in my home and they are horrible for allowing dirt from the attic into the house. I wish you luck, and man I can still remember how great it felt to lay in bed in front of the open window on a hot summer night, but that is going to cost you in the long run I'm afraid. I do hope it works out for you though.

    Great review. Its just a shame QuietCool makes the UGLIEST controllers for their fans. Why wouldn't they make something that seemlessly blends with switches everyone in the real world is using? Or let us use our OWN switches without having to figure out the correct wiring (albeit simplistic wiring for DIY). I'll be shopping around a little more but this is a great review to see if the QuietCool is worth the pricetag. Thanks!

    • @RyanDenman
      @RyanDenman Před 10 měsíci

      For any out there who watch this...20 amp wiring is not required. It is also unnecessary to wrap electrical tape around the base of wire nuts.@@Myksgarage

    • @joshm3563
      @joshm3563 Před 2 měsíci

      There’s nothing at all wrong with how he did it. Yes, 15 amp would’ve been fine for one unit, but say he wants to add lights, an attic fan, or another whole home fan in the future, he’ll be happy he oversized. And no, you don’t have to tape wire nuts, but it’s good practice, just like taping receptacle terminals. I don’t expect a resi electrician to tape every wire nut on a new construction, but if I’m doing my own project, I might as well take the time and go the extra mile.
