    This has set my mind at ease as my 1.5 petrol is noisy and a garage said it’s normal, guess it’s just nice to get it told to me twice as I tend to overthink things like this.

    I love the sounds and the 2020+ escape 1.5's don't have many mechanical issues as well. It's detuned from like 250hp one tune away from more fun and guys doing the tunes are reporting no problem after a year and they drive rough. The resale value is insane too!

    I just put a high pressure fuel pump and tappet on my 2018 ford Escape with this motor. The tappet under the fuel pump was damaged and ruined the fuel pump. Even with the new parts it is still very noisy. Thank you so much for posting this video.

  • @tomd.2982

    It seems a lot of these GDI engines have that loud ticking noise from the high pressure fuel delivery system. I used to have a Kia optima with the 2.4L DI engine that even made more noise. Kia/hyundai had to recall and replace the blocks on so many of those 2.4s because metal shavings were sometimes left in the crankshaft from the milling process and would block the oil ports and cause the engine to sieze up. Nice video!

    Thank you so much for doing this video. I just bought a 2019 Ford Fusion with EcoBoost. I've never had a car this new or like this before. When I opened up the hood just to check fluids I thought there was something wrong with it and they had told me and lemon. I was really freaked out because this is the first car I've ever bought on financing in my life. It was a big step for me so this video actually calm my nerves. The ticking scared the crap out of me. They are noisy but I love them. Great low end power, decent gas mileage on a trip, just no top end power. Ford should have put an overboost program in the ECU for like a 15 second blast to get around slower vehicles on 2 lane roads. Aside from that, I think it's a great engine.

I think the valves need adjusted or something. I had a complete timing kit installed because they said it was cam phaser noise and after install, noise still there. Got a strange fast ticking noise when letting off the gas after heavy acceleration. Typically only happens at 3k RPM and higher and lasts for a couple seconds. 1.5L ecoboost. Curious if anyone has any insight. First mechanic opinion defaulted to a new motor with no real root cause of the issue.

  • @wrongthinkthunk
    @wrongthinkthunk Před 2 lety

    I live in a most severe weather location and the 1.0 and 1.5 3 cylinder ecoboost engines are the most reliable out here. It is a loud engine 3 cylinder engines make the most noticeable sounds out of all car engines. They are tiny and they make a lot of power per cubic inch displacement so ford way overbuilt them top and bottom. I just sold my 2019 ecosport with the 1.0 fox engine it was ran hard and I sold it over market value and upgraded to the 2021 escape se 1.5 Dragon engine. 80,000 km warranty and I will document every little thing wrong with it but being noisy is not one of them the sound is like a bullet proof 3 cylinder turbo engine and I like that lol.

    I have a 2017 Ford Escape 2.0L Ecoboost. It has a intermittent clicking/tapping sound. It only does it for a min or two then stops, then a few min later it will start again. It literally sounds like if you tapped your fingernail on metal very rapidly. It sounds like it's coming from around the top of the engine by the vacuum pump.
    Is this normal too? I can't find anything in the internet that sounds like it. Your video sounded the closest when you lifted the cover off the engine. Also are these prone to air leaks anywhere specific? I'm getting a check engine light, I took it to get tested and the guy said it's a air sensor or something like that, he said it was probably just a loose gas cap. But I have one of those easy fill tank caps and the flap is sealed. Maybe the sound is connected to the check engine code? I checked my air filter and it's a little dirty but not bad. I did notice one of the screws to the filter cover wasn't screwed down all the way and the cover was canted. I'm hoping that was the air problem.

Do I need to drain the oil from the automatic transmission? I would be very grateful for your help. Best regards from Poland

      You are going to lose just a little bit of fluid so make sure you have your oil drop pan underneath it but there's no reason to drain the transmission it's not very much that you lose

    I got a question to you, ford boss me, please, don’t hesitate to take a look.
    I got a ford focus ecoboost 2017, had the well known second and fourth cylinder pistons break down without cracking the block. I know where this is coming from, but anyways, had the engine rebuilt by a good master, the engine worked perfect after this, then at 8k miles later check engine went off, turned out the fourth cylinder piston cracked again. Had it replaced solely, and now while idling there’s a slight hammering sound coming from the inside of the engine which has never been around before. The car runs well, fuel and coolant levels are fine but I’m worried what this might be?
    I’m not from the us, your advice would be much appreciated!
    Ps. Subscribed.

    • @FordBossMe
      @FordBossMe  Před 10 měsíci

      Piston isn't the issue it's the updated short block, the blocks don't crack they already have machined slots in them and the new updated ones don't
      You need a new short block

      @@FordBossMeyeah I know what you are saying, during the first repair those machine made slices in between the cylinders were filled with aluminum and when the fourth piston cracked again those sliced lines were intact. New short block in Russia now costs around $2300 which is not an option for me at the moment…

I did a tune up and it's still doing it, changed spark plugs air filter and cleaned the throttle body, old spark plugs seemed to be burning fine. Any tips on what it could be, there's no check engine light on. The car has 87k

    Hey Ford boss, i need some help. I have a 2014 ford fusion SE 1.5L that has an oil leak. My mechanic replaced the rocker cover gasket, the variable camshaft solenoid as well as the o rings on the injectors. Now, all those areas are sealed but there is oil coming from the oil cap. My mechanic states that it is the turbo that needs replacing because of back pressure. I bought this car last year and it has 40k miles. So the car was sitting for a while. do you have suggestions of what I can do to figure out the true cause? do you also think i need a new turbo?

    • @FordBossMe
      @FordBossMe  Před 3 lety +1

      Your mechanic would be wrong about needing a new Turbo, a turbo is not going to cause excessive pressure in the valve cover and oil to come out what ends up happening is you have blow by and and whenever you have excessive bypass of crankcase pressure it accumulates in the valve cover area and you can push out around oil cap
      Check and make sure your rubber ring is still on the oil cap
