I'm an American and I get emotional every time I hear the national anthem. Even more now than ever. Chris Stapleton did probably one of the best renditions. Please pray for the United States. We need it now more than ever

It's hard to explain American Patriotism really...it's deeply layered in pain, loss and triumph. Hats of to you Cousins across the pond may our connection never cease on meaning , value and respect for each other.
I explain it that I understand the sacrifices that were made by those that came first. They were amazing men among men. So strong with wisdom and God with them. The amount of gratitude I have for them is immeasurable. Add to that the sacrifices of all who have fought for us all. There can be no forgetting or discounting that. Thank God for this great gift 🇺🇸 long may it wave 🙏🇺🇸❤️

Wow! Tina, you really explained things very well: I felt that deep in my soul. I would do almost anything for my Country, my internal patriotism goes deep as does my history. One of my descendants came over on the Mayflower. My family is American, but I have English roots obviously. I'm so proud that we've kept these inseparable links towards the United Kingdom. We have together vanquished Nazi Germany twice and will prevail against the Adolph Putin.
Chris singing that never gets old. Even after 30 or 40 times hearing it I still get goosebumps.
As a Canadian, I think Chris just crushed it. That was the most beautiful, heartfelt, emotional rendition I have ever heard of The Star Spangled Banner.

I have to agree with you, I've always regarded Whitney Huston's the best but i think chris got her beat.
I love the description another woman said about this version: Chris Stapleton gave us the sittin' on the back porch version of our national anthem. 😊 It sounds like he's just singing to his friends and family telling a story of a incredible battle. I love how the lyrics are the highlight of his version - there isn't the distraction of cymbals crashing and loud brass instruments- you can see the scenes as he sings the words. Just beautiful and so very powerful.
As an American who sometimes get teared up hearing the National Anthem, the one that always gets me was when the Canadians sang it at a hockey game when the mic had technical difficulties.

Chris did awesome job! He made it about our flag and country, with total respect and dignity. He didn't make it about himself and his vocal ability. He doesn't have to. He has nothing to prove. Makes me happy to see emotion from players aside from the game. That they feel the same pride that I do. Great rendition of the anthem. I’m deployed and couldn’t watch the game but heard people talk about it. It brought a tear to my eye

I never in my life have ever missed the national anthem given the opportunity to hear it. My love for my country bursts through with this rendition. No one has ever sung my national anthem better. Whitney was number one until this. The emotions you could clearly see on the players faces and the tears from Philly's coach make me proud that I served. Make me see that, the time, the blood, the sweat and the tears I shed for my country are all well with it. I admit I was a little broken hearted when Americans started kneeling in protest during the anthem and this completely mended those broken pieces.
Watching the tears rolling down the coaches face made my waterworks start. I can't imagine all of the emotions going through those players and coaches just knowing that they'd made it to the pinnacle of their sport, and top it off with the singing of the anthem like that, it's no wonder the whole stadium wasn't crying like babies. Just beautiful! I usually prefer it sung traditionally, and you just can't beat Whitney's version if you appreciate the tradition. I hate it when people add runs to it or try to modernize it and make it sound new and hip. It is so steeped in our history that singing it any other way than it was originally composed always seems almost sacrilegious to me. But even though this was not sung traditionally, it was very close, and boy was it something special. He certainly made this Merican proud.
Might be the most perfect performance ever given of any song ever performed. He did it so heart string pulling perfect. I don't understand how any American isn't moved to tears by this performance. It kills me and I've watched it 100 times..... WoW !!!
I am 48 years old. And for 48 years, I, without fail, start getting emotional and have to wipe the tears away when the line "and the rockets red glare...." gets sung.

As a retired U.S. Air Force serviceman, what makes me tear-up even more, is the fact that the flyover was performed by an all-female team of Navy aviators. EXCELLENT SHOW, LADIES ..... YOU DONE US PROUD!
Yes! I cry more often just from the anthem in a stadium. When I found out the fly over was all women I ugly cried. I absolutely support and love all our military but this was special for so many reasons

Thank you for saying that. Our younger generation is completely either trying to erase our history, or they are just not being taught history. That needs to change. I love the story you were referring to, how they discovered it was the bodies of dead Patriots who held up that flag and gave us the country we know and love today. It's not perfect, but the United States is the greatest country in Earth. I love my country. God Bless America and all of it's citizens, no matter your color, religion or anything else they try to use to keep us apart.
I think that after our staunchest allies rolled into Afganistan and Iraq (twice!) with us- we can drop all the "former foes" gibberish. That's ancient history now. We and the Brits are truly 'brother nations' on this earth. There are no other 2 countries on this planet more inter-twined in culture, outlook, and interest!

Chris has lots of blues influence which is very soulful. Players and coaches were already emotional because it's the SB which is the dream of so many people to perform at. Adding an emotional national anthem on top of that probably made it tough to hold back tears
I rate it as the best version I heard after 100s of times. Whitney had the best for years , but chiris took it to a whole new level.

It is an excellent rendition. Chris was fantastic and between Philadelphia's coach and Millie crying, I teared up a bit too. Kind of flattering that people from other countries can still appreciate our fairly unique anthem.

I honestly believe I was the luckiest person to hear this anthem. I've recently discovered Chris Stapleton....so I know enough to be excited that hes performing but also know not enough to still be blown away. I couldn't have timed discovering Chris Stapleton any better. I had this on non stop for 3 days.
I love so much the respect y’all give our nation’s anthem. Watching you, and others like the NZ Family, reconnects me to the roots and passion and purpose behind it. As the daughter of a Marine, with uncles, grandpas and cousins who have served and a friend who died in Afghanistan many years ago- I cry, have chills and just felt like saying, thank you.
I went to one of Chris Stapletons shows a few years ago in PA (US) and he is even better live than on tv. I’ve been lucky enough to attend numerous concerts of various artists and it was hands down one of my all time favorites! I will say though, I am a country music fan so that probably helps lol

Agreed. I'm merely "country curious" and heard Chris at Pilgrimage last fall. Clearly the best live performance I've ever witnessed, and I'm an old guy. I remember asking my wife at the end of "I Was Wrong" what I just heard.

You should definitely do Tennessee Whiskey as well as many other Chris Stapleton songs. The live versions are the best. His wife Morgane sings with him and she also has an amazing voice!

My third viewing of reactors watching this video today and I've cried each time. As a veteran I cannot sing the song without breaking up and I get teary eyes every time I hear it no matter how many thousands of times I have already heard it. I think even more telling is that as a kid growing up I could hardly make it through the song without getting watery eyes.
This is the only version of the Anthem that I have ever cried over. Many have given me goose bumps. But this one version reached into my soul.
Love this version of the National Anthem. I have always had a special place in my heart for this song and my country. I lived in Germany for a year and a half right after getting out of the service and was so happy when I got back home. As a US Air Force vet, I have always thought that traveling overseas gives a person a special appreciation for this country and what it stands for. It is an amazing song with special meaning for us all. Loved her reaction also.

Thank you for this! This is one of my favorites for sure. The texture in his voice. The grit...it makes me feel the sacrifice men and women have given for this country. In peace and in war, the members of the military, all of them who do their duty, are the reasons why we are free.
To all the patriots that passed keeping that flag from falling at Ft McHenry, We American citizens love you and we will continue to hold it high, and it will never touch the ground. We will die on our feet before we live on our knees. Ty to all our veterans, even though our government neglects you, but we citizens love you always and you will always have the American citizens support and love. You fight for us we fight for you.

I have watched our national anthem performed countless times at sporting events, etc. over the years. And Stapleton's performance, by far, is the most incredible. No grandstanding, no weird unique rendition, just a decent, humble man showing his love for our country in the most beautifully simple, softly spoken, and dignified way I have ever seen on one of the world's largest stages.

Little subtle details during the performance. Every player is swaying back and forth and just feeling it. Then when the entire crowd sings "braaaaave" is just another level. This made our entire country feel something we haven't felt in a LONG time. Thank you Chris.

Just was watching Stapleton do this again on CZcams and came across this video and I love the respect you guys have for the anthem. I’m 21 but even as a kid I would get emotional hearing it. Going to school on a military base and hearing the anthem every morning and the jets taking off over the school is something I’ll never forget
I’m not a country fan but this was so much more meaningful than those who are technically perfect when they sing it. He did a great job of arranging to suit his range.

The National Anthem has always made me emotional since I was a child. It hits me even more now. I'm a spouse of an Army Veteran, one of my son's (I have 5) is in the military and one is about to join. I am so thankful for those willing to sacrifice for us and our country. 🥰

The guy that was shedding a tear was Nick Sirianni. He's the Eagles head coach and a fiery, emotional guy who wears his heart on his sleeve. No surprise seeing him get choked up
For me it was Whitney Houston's version in 1991. I was recalled to active duty in the Marine Corps to serve during Desert Storm. We gathered around a small TV to watch the Super Bowl and she brought tears to our eyes.

I served 4 yrs in the Army(all peacetime) and take this song to heart but this rendition is by far the best I have ever heard.
