yeah. thats exactly the problem these days. Also lock companies charge an extortionate markup on locks that they put security pins in. The only reason i can think of is that maybe the automatic pinning machines cant handle security pins, so the extra expense is to pay a person to insert the pins in the lock. Maybe the machine designers need a re-think

As inexperienced as I am at lock picking, I could tell by looking at the key that you'd be able to "rake" that lock open. Right up there with the locks on my boss's desk and file cabinet that could be "picked" with a paperclip and a jeweler's screwdriver. Heck if we left them halfway we could relock them and he never knew.
“It also has a lock cylinder that was so unimpressive I decided not to do a full test of the electronics because unless it can make me waffles in the morning there is no feature that can make up for it” LPL straight savage on this particular worthless lock 😂😂 but we all know when the wave rake comes out throw the lock in the garbage 💯
When the wave rake came out I knew it was done for. The cuts on the keys look all to be nearly the same, which is why that lock was a good candidate for a wave rake attack.
Dangerous. What if the lock has "slipped" in its security in the 9 months since he showed it was decent? Maybe it was always made by a third party, and after becoming popular, another, less careful, third party was contracted to make up the bulk of the output? Imagine the following scenario. "Amazon Basics" buys white-label locks from an unknown brand. They turn out to be pretty decent, but the manufacturer can ONLY manage to turn out a couple-thousand a day. LPL touts their security. Amazon Basics then has to turn to another manufacturer, who can produce a similar-looking lock, at a faster pace. They turn to someone who CAN turn out more than a couple-thousand a day, because they're so very much sloppier with the tolerances. Or, Amazon Basics just pulls the contract, because this other company will make them ten times as many, for the same price, and they LOOK the same.
The takeaway that I get from watching all his videos is that it doesn't matter what lock you install. If you don't have a security system in place, your house is open and inviting.
The main issue is that specifically highlighting those locks makes them less secure. The best security is something that doesn't stand out. It may also give the impression that his endorsement makes something 100% secure. It doesn't. The point should be to learn and grow yourself, rather than being told what is good and bad. Viewers that have seen enough of his videos should have a hint on what brands he favors and know what to look for. Paclock and Kwikset have generally been given favorable reviews, while Masterlock and anything Amazon recommends should be avoided. Tubular locks aren't pickproof, but require specialized tools that the average thief probably won't have. There should be no exposed screws or panels on the outside of the door, and there should be no easy access to the latch. The hinge pins should be on the inside as well, or securely welded in place.
Hey LPL, I actually have seen this lock before and I can tell you that the manufacturer is currently working on a newer version that DOES cook you waffles in the morning. No added security though

"...unless this can cook me waffles in the morning" Knowing those cheap amazon brands there might actually be a chance that they advertise just that somewhere in the product listing!
He always say "have a nice day" but I can only think about the person who is currently using the lock he just obliterated and is now paranoid about it for the rest of the day
Having opened a very impressive looking door lock once with a nonslip screwdriver, I can assure you that this is far from an exception. In fact, I'm surprised he doesn't sell one of those with the Genesis set. No raking required, just a bit of twisting and turning.
I think LPL generally talks about a lock longer than it takes him to open it, even if it's a decent lock. But 3 seconds on the first filmed attempt really is awful.
I recently watched "the terminal list" on Amazon, there's a major plot point that hinges on the security of a biometric handgun safe and I really wondered what you would think of that safe.
LPL has done a bunch of those. Usually the biometrics are pretty good, but the bypass lock is crap. If the show relies on someone with fake rubber cement fingerprints or something, but doesn't involve a cross lock jiggler or a Red Bull can, they aren't doing it right.
@@StrongDreamsWaitHere The main thing with biometrics is that the thief would actually need to get a clean fingerprint, which would be pretty hard for a random stranger. They would need to find a clean surface that you, and only you, have touched. Then they would need to get in and get an impression from that surface. It'd be a bit easier as an inside job. Stealing the target's cellphone would be a good source of prints, as long as you can return it before they notice it's gone. Then you would need to break into whatever area is holding the safe. At that point it's one of those overly elaborate heists that could go wrong with a single variable changed. To make things much easier, just pick the manual override. Pretty much every electronic safe uses them, and it's pretty much always something that can easily be raked or easily picked.
I used to have a SentrySafe that LPL has tested couple years ago. The fingerprinting is fairly good and the resistance to activating the actuator with a magnet reasonable. I filled in the bypass with glue to avoid the one egregious vulnerability of it.
@@amandaklapp1171 for a partial print sure, but it's VERY hard to get a complete and non smeared print from any object. When forensics do fingerprint matching in real life it's not a nice clean complete print like you see in the movies, they'll match a partial part of the print and use that as the starting point of a conviction.
Basically, the buttons are there for the intimidation factor only. The manufacturer put it there to make it seem like the door knob is highly sophisticated.
That was so fast! I wonder if you remember or know what lock you've ever raked the fastest? Would be interesting to see a few (maybe top 10) of the fastest opened locks in one video?

Its always fun to see LPL play with a knob
"...unless this can cook me waffles in the morning"
Knowing those cheap amazon brands there might actually be a chance that they advertise just that somewhere in the product listing!
Some overseas manufacturer is probably already working on it.
Yeah, but the cooker wouldn't work either.
@@davep8221 true...
But can it cook waffles? 🤔
He always say "have a nice day" but I can only think about the person who is currently using the lock he just obliterated and is now paranoid about it for the rest of the day
Zincker is now making waffle irons with locking pins. You can't open the door until the waffle is done.
Holy Crap!! I think that was the fastest I've ever seen you pick a lock lmao.
Brutally quick!
The key bitting is just another flaw.
Even without security pins mor variance in cut depth would have made raking it at least harder.
Having opened a very impressive looking door lock once with a nonslip screwdriver, I can assure you that this is far from an exception. In fact, I'm surprised he doesn't sell one of those with the Genesis set. No raking required, just a bit of twisting and turning.
Thanks LPL
Seems like it’s getting easier and easier.
This product is quite the Zinker!
I was half expecting him to insert the turning tool and say, "Aand, we got this open". Close.
Honestly, me too lol.
At least he didn't use a piece of the package to open the lock...
I always watch to the end so I can have a nice day! 🙂
LPL Been savage asf, love it!
Zinker just got hit with 100 mph fastball on the back of the hand by LPL. “Oof. That’s gotta hurt”
When it takes LPL longer for his introduction than to pick a lock, you know it's bad.
I think LPL generally talks about a lock longer than it takes him to open it, even if it's a decent lock. But 3 seconds on the first filmed attempt really is awful.
I can't remember the last video where the picking took more time then the intro...
When the *wave rake* comes out, you done goofed
That yielded to the rake as fast as a Masterlock
I always wonder how companies seem to forget that lock is as secure as its WEAKEST feature 🙄
@@jardex2275kitchen cabinet, shaver. Prints are all over the place.
This was a straight execution. The lock didn't even get its last rites.
I think the one where he pulled out the core in a 1/2 second.
Once, he sneezed, and three Master locks opened. It was a fraction of a second.
@@Carlton-B Big deal. Everyone's done that.
@@Carlton-B 🤣
Is there a lock manufacturing association in America and if so where do they hang their heads these days? Cheers 🇨🇦
In the Brandon “administration”.
@@navret1707 the locks were just as bad in the Cheeto Administration. And the one previous, and the one before that...
BAM! That was a helluva smackdown!
"your security isn't worth it, at least not to Zinker." Yikes! That was savage brutality flawlessly executed.
Beware. A new generation of waffle-making locks are on their way to offset the industry's failures.
Remember when lockpickinglawyer STRUGGLED with the puzzle lock "Loki", a CHILDREN'S PRODUCT TOOK LONGER TO CRACK THAN A PROFESSIONAL MADE LOCK!
I'm not sure any children are spending over $100 on a puzzle...
Had to pick my lock box bc I didn't have my keys, remembered it only has 3 pins I used a rake and opened it almost immediately 😅. All thanks to your videos and using a rake on bad locks
I get so excited when he brings out the wave rake, I know I have a chance too!
raking took whole 3 secends. Almost surpassing quality of masterlock
I laughed when you pulled out the wave rake because I knew how fast it would be over
Harry done it again!
Saw the length of the video, thought oh no it's s a rake job. Wasn't disappointed.
The appearance of the wave rake could basically be a drinking game at this stage.
That wave rake just waved goodbye to that lock
I saw the bitting on that key and immediately knew LPL was going to bring out the rake of death.
As member of the thieves guild I say thank you sir.
Man, I never knew how comfortable my
neighbor's couch was.
It was generous of the manufacturer to include bump keys with the lock
You just opened that faster than if I got home drunk and forgot the combination.
As soon as I saw the abysmal bitting on that key I knew the wave rake was going to make an appearance.
