Fun fact: I've actually eaten a glowstick. They taste like just about how you'd expect a stick of chemicals that start glowing an unnatural neon color when you break them to taste. So bad. I can still vividly remember the taste.

Also the foods that get heated are vacuum sealed. They also use magnesium instead of sodium hydroxide. I think that contaminates the food less.
