    You actually didn't have to take any lines off the AC. The condenser can rotate up enough to get the cam in/out with both lines attached. I have done it many many times.

    Excellent !! 👍👍
    Here's an old "no air" valve spring trick.
    Cylinder on TDC. Roll the piston down either way. Feed a couple feet of 3/16 cotton rope into the spark plug hole, then roll the piston up to hold the valves😲.
    Works at the track when you broke a spring and you don't have air. Trick from the 50s. 👍👍😎😁

Always follow your instincts… when you get that feeling that something isn’t right then keep digging and working until it is resolved. When the Anderson lifter tools get a little old, the shrink tubing that holds the magnet can split. Not good. Check them first , if the magnet sticks on the lifter, and not the threaded rod than your day just got longer. It is easy to fix before bad stuff happens.

    • @BREW2LFOXBODY
      @BREW2LFOXBODY  Před rokem

      I’ve had one pop off before. Luckily I was able to get it to reattach to another tappet tool. The shrink wrap isn’t what actually holds them in place. They are epoxied to the rod. The wrap is used more as a place holder while it dries.

    Funny story I recently purchased a 95 Cobra it needed a new plastic Cowl panel. While taking it off I broke the old plastic vaccum lines going to the washer nozzles. I didn't fix it right away because I didn't have the parts to fix at the time. Then I did a few mods like Screamin Coil, and a couple things. After that I drive the car and it bucks and snatched and acts stupid. I put a new tfi Module and new connector on coil, and new voltage Regulator connector. All needed. Still bucking and snatching. Corrected timing and still did it. I finally got around to fixing The Big Vaccum Leak from the Washer Nozzle vaccum lines and bam smooth running car. No bucking and snatching. Check All Vaccum Lines. Including those going to Washer Nozzles

    Just caught it @ :40 (and 23:43 still shot) as you said "pass the camera by". Look at that rocker/ valve tip carefully. (The rocker straight in front of the roof truss) Not lined up. Right? Now look at that retainer. Doesn't fit the spring. 🤔🤔😎

    • @hotrodray6802
      @hotrodray6802 Před 2 lety

    • @hotrodray6802
      @hotrodray6802 Před 2 lety

      It looks like the retainer is not designed for those double springs so obviously it's not seated squarely onto the outer spring.
      When a retainer is placed into a spring before installation it should snap in lightly and not move around in the spring hole inner diameter. Double springs make it worse because the inner spring touches the retainer too.
      😲🤔🤔 Yes I am aware those retainers came with the springs and cam. 😲

    Recently when taking pushrods out of the box Brew made a comment about if hardened pushrods really are hard.
    Here's how to tell.
    Get a good FMB (flat mill bastard) file and run it across each pushrod. If it scratches it, it is NOT hardened. Check your guide plates this way also.
    One time I saw soft pushrods in guideplates and they wore almost through until they bent. Guess where all that metal went. JME 👍😎

  • @79beans347
    @79beans347 Před 2 lety

    It sounds a hell of a lot better, yeah valve train noise is only letting you know that something isn't right, I have never and any problems with it on anything that I have built, I did hear a little noise on beans at first only when u held your head really close to the engine and it freaked me out but it cleared up and was probably a lifter not fully primed up but it was really quite and not as noticeable as they normally are they were the one's they came out with a few years ago in 2017 i think . So I knew that u had a little issue somewhere because I could hear it but it's fixed now and that was a great excuse to get a bigger cam as well because you know that is what some of the noise was coming from😉.................. 🤣😂🤣 i just watched a video where someone used those to put a cam in and next time I do a swap im going to get some of those as well. Ive got new valve springs on the way and going with 1.7 roller rockers because I ended up with some cheap springs that I thought was a all comp cams stuff and it was all but the springs and at the dyno my cam is supposed to pull to 6500 and it peaked 422rwhp at 5700 so there's more in it and Im going to get it all because im greedy and want all the power 😂🤣😂

    I can't believe anyone would say valve train noise is normal...yes solid lifter can make a bit of noise but only on cold start or excessive lash. Anytime you have noise your causing in necessary unnecessary wear. Where you have experience with the 5.0 do you think long tubes are worth the clearance issues? As far as hooking it up that's not a problem, where I'm a professional fabricator/welder I'm getting a 2.5 mandrel bent builders kit with an x-pipe out the back I may use the fake cats I found online just in case.just incase.but if it's not worth it on a efi 5.0 I wouldn't bother. It's a sn95 vert so I'm never heavily modding this car other than mild aluminum heads cam n intake. where I'm hoping some day of getting an 32v sn95 cobra even tho I'm not a huge fan of ohc engines but performance potential of those is really high.

      I disagree with u on ur solid lifter praise, I only have runem for 18 yrs on street, they make noise like a type writer, back in day cams ran .20 tho clearance, now they have closer clearance like mine that’s .12 tho, still makes same amount of noise hot or cold

      We add ZDDP additive from O'Reillys to synthetic oils in the flat tappet cars.
      Recent experience has made me a Lucas believer. 1/2 quart in 10/30 synthetic Mobil1 in the Fox with police car oil cooler.

    It always disappointing for someone first thought of a camshaft is the soud the cam makes instead of the performance just saying
