    I have the 2019 13 inch version since September and have no complaints at all. I don’t know why everyone is hating on the keyboard but I love it. No problems at all. I have 128gb and I am more than impressed. No glitches lagging or any problem while using 10 apps and +25 tabs at the same time. I personally also like the full touchbar with the esc. Buttons on it. would recommend the 2019 even more because of the price. Trust me you won’t see any difference which is worth 250$

However, the Apple store fix it for free thanks to the global campaign they released for changing butterfly keyboards. People are just overreacting. With this 2019 MBP keyboard version there is really nothing to be afraid of. If you just google there are significant less people who experience defective keys with the 2019 version. So again there is nothing to be afraid of. The 2019 model works great.

    I would avoid the butterfly keyboards at all cost. They will get repaired if they fail, but only for a limited amount of time. If the keyboard breaks one day after the repair service expires, that MacBook will turn into a very expensive brick that can't really be fixed. I think that'll also hurt the used market, as we have now about 5 generations of Macbooks that nobody really wants to own because of the risk that the keyboard may most certainly break at some point. We unfortunately have to stick with the up to 2015 models (hopefully those without staingate) until the 2020 models become affordable in a few years.

    That the speakers sound slightly more bass heavy makes sense actually. The speakers itself might be the same, but the housing itself (the macbook) has changed slightly, so this has an impact on the acoustics. Having slightly larger holes and a bigger chassis can have a huge impact on audio quality. At least, I had this experience with building speakers. Great video Luke, love your content ❤️

    @SteveAdamsGraphicArtist Před 4 lety +1

    I am a Graphic Designer . My 2011 Macbook Pro was nearly indestructible, suffering only one hardware failure in 2018. I retired and recycled it. I then bought a 2019 Macbook Pro, Intel I-9 processor, 32GB RAM and over $4K. Within that year I had my business put entirely on hold, suffering three keyboard trackpad failures in the last four months. It is currently out for repair now for the third time under the Keyboard Service Program for MacBook, MacBook Air, and MacBook Pro... (Yes, they're so bad they actually have a replacement program) with the end result being, after FOUR FAILURES WITHIN ONE YEAR they will replace it with a new MacBook Pro. So what's the big deal? One more repair and I'm home free, right? I would be getting a new one? Right? Wrong... The issue with that is the ones currently on the shelves right now (and I would be due) have the EXACT SAME COMPONENTS... A Butterfly Keyboard (Google that, you won't like what you see) trackpad, speakers and battery (and as they are now) all GLUED to the replacement "top case" forming a single part that has an out of warranty price tag of $1000. (That information and the quote, I got from an Apple Certified Reseller/Repair shop, in person last Saturday.) They simply cannot just replace individual components they must replace the entire "topcase" When any one component fails. (They can't even replace just the battery.) So again whats' the big deal? Okay maybe for someone who lives within walking distance of an authorized repair center there's nothing wrong with that.. and you are okay spending more than a thousand dollars per year on your computer.... I don't and I am not okay that sort of expense. If you're like me, be prepared to experience what I have so far... In the past four months I've had "23 telephone calls, totaling better than 6 hours", needlessly driven 120 miles total to ship it off three times for repair, a string of emails as long as my arm... 100 "I'm Sorry's" (More if you count the ones in writing) and I am still not done with the third repair. It happened to me, it could happen to you.... There is nothing Pro about a MacBook Pro. Buyer Beware.

    So, I’m finally pulling the trigger and upgrading my very tired Mid 2012 MBP which to be honest, I do web design and graphics design and that poor old guy maxed out with 16gb ram and a 500gb SSD has held up extremely well. The display (Pre Retina) is really showing it’s age now so, it’ll go into semi retirement. I decided to spend the extra money for the 2020 mainly because of the keyboard. In stating in the video “if you can live with the butterfly keyboard” you need to consider that it is a gamble. Living with that keyboard could be simply dealing with it’s feel to unexpected periods of time that your keyboard is unusable, possibly even requiring going without the machine to have the entire upper portion of the case replaced. For me that gamble made it worth spending a little extra money to avoid. Awesome comparison video btw, thank you for posting it :)

    You could actually get a 1% difference in CPU speed from 2 models of the same year and make as well. Every chip is slightly different so 1% is within margin of error for chip-to-chip variance. If you get 10 2019 13", I'm sure some of them will also be ±1% from each other

Until now, I have never seen ANY problem with the 4th gen butterfly keyboard. I type a lot (I mean: A LOT), and sometimes I have used it even for gaming. No problem at all with the keyboard. However, there was a motherboard failure with it, which was replaced by the local Apple service partner (in April of 2020). They cannot tell me that can be because of the classic thermal issues. Maybe it wasn't, but not sure.
    During the Covid-19 period, I cannot compare the new scissors keyboard with the latest 4th gen butterfly. Somehow I am a fan of the very short keytravel, and never explained any problem with the touchbar Esc key.
