- Olds Guy's Garage: If you have been dreaming how great it would be to detail your engine bay and paint your motor this video just may be just what the doctor ordered. Why wait to remove the motor to paint it while you can do it while its in the car!
Good video
Thank you!
how did you get intake and heads so clean to paint?
mine are both covered in new oil leaks and old old gunked up with dust.
it will take hours to clean
Exactly hours of cleaning you said it yourself
Were did you source the paint to match your car? I have a deep blue and it hard to match it with pre made cans, i have some paint left from when the truck was painted i wasn't sure if it could be sprayed over a high heat primer and it hold up
I bought the bronze paint from fusick automotive. they have many different engine paints in stock especially for Oldsmobile that are carefully matched to factory color.
Good job!!! I do have one question. Did you paint over the spark plugs? Will it hurt them if you did?
Great question!
I actually painted over the old spark plugs! I had the new ones set aside and pulled! I put new spark plugs back in after paint.
Thank You!!! I learned a lot from your video and really enjoyed watching it. Again great job on the engine!
@@BigGeorge3397 Thank you! best of luck on your projects!
What kind of hi temp or did you use hi temp paint?
How long does it take for thr smell of the paint to go away? I cannot tell if im burning oil or if its the paint
Oh no. LOL. Good question! If i remember correctly it took at least a half dozen or so running cycles. I also left the hood up after driving till engine cooled down. Oil burn should smell different than paint. Good luck!
