Reflective Questions:
What do I tend to assume is meaningful to my clients? How could I probe deeper?
Where am I adhering to industry norms at the expense of creating better experiences?
How could I extend the value and memories I provide beyond the main event/deliverable itself?
What will make my service worth a premium price in my clients' eyes?
Tying It Together:
Providing truly meaningful, memorable experiences requires shifting from a cookie-cutter approach to one of thoughtful customization. It means taking time to really listen to clients, draw out their stories, and design each event around their unique quirks and emotionally significant relationships. While this personalized approach takes confidence and a willingness to break the mold, the lasting positive memories created are priceless. Incorporating post-event surprises extends the value provided and keeps you meaningfully connected to clients. Adopting an entertainment designer mindset can elevate the impact of your work, in any field

Paul was my college dance professor and DJ/Taught at my wedding too. It was so fun! I've been watching and absorbing his multifaceted journey going on 15years
Jefferson, Same thing back at you and your journey!
Be careful following my teachers and mentor,s Chris will make your brain hurt....but your wallet will grow :)
Just watched this and I would highly agree with Chris on the challenge of doing a TED talk. If you talked with those in the industry and there was crickets that’s too bad for them they didn’t get it. Each of those moments you created I was like…wow, how can I use that to better serve those in my industry. Thanks to both of you for the insights.🙏🏽
Thanks so much for the encouragement!
I'm glad it challenged you to improve how you serve your clients.
@@PaulHoke I am in the process of starting a business which has led me to the @thefutur channel. In the process I have been talking to different people and telling them about when I had my own DJ business 20ish years ago. Imagine my delight when I saw your name and heard your story. Sounds like you are doing an amazing job. Thank you for the stories and inspiration.
Chris I love your line of questioning, and how you are just a good listener, that is a rare skill and to top it off how you just reflect so wonderfully on what your guest said for your viewers so that they can marinate on it. You are the best and your guest is awesome on how creative and the relatability of how he concocts these extraordinary memories that he creates for his clients. I definitely learned a lot from this engagement ❤
Powerful silence is the kerning of the event world. Give people space to process what they're going through. Excellent interview with Paul!
Thank you!
I think the biggest hack & superpower of his is EMPATHY. As someone who works in events & hospitality the miracles & moments are always born of a radical empathy on the part of the producer or designer to walk through the same steps your clients will. Many ppl demonstrate sympathy but not empathy.
Well said! Thanks for sharing.
100000% ❤
This was an amazing conversation. Thank you so much for sharing it!
This is exactly what I needed to listen to right now. This hits me right in the core.
Paul's story is phenomenal. experience and storytelling is unique to everyone. I would love to connect with him.
Paul has emotional story telling down. Clearly I don’t know Hailey but, Thank God that she found Paul for her day.
Yes he does!
Paul is such a gem! I love the way he thinks about things
Me too
Awe, Thank You!
Goodness gracious this guy is a human tear jerker
Grab those tissue boxes!
I already got some good ideas going just listening to this guy ❤
Great talk for myself as a working DJ. Really interesting to hear these sorts of ideas put into practice and how they help impact an experience. Thanks for this episode, Chris.
❤ Wow! I love this video. Your talking is very interesting and Paul's story is phenomenal. Thank you guys!
This is incredible. Loved it!
Hi Chris I believe this is somehow relative. Paul creativity have to do a lot with emotion and feelings. We has designers we try to stay away from feelings or we don't get paid. 😅 But honestly be that best listener in the room is what will get us the job to both industries. Also creative solutions to solve the problems ! Good video.
Thanks for sharing!
Loved listening to this on Google podcast!
Its amazing talent to be that empathetic
Just logged in and the new thumbnail jumped right out at me 🎉
Amazing interview 😊
Awesome
Behavioral data can significantly enhance client experiences. By analyzing client interactions and feedback, you can predict needs and tailor services even more effectively.
Your personal story is really what got me following you. The story of unfucking yourself. I feel your authenticity and respect it❤
Try using a pic of Chris wearing his hat in the thumbnail and change the color to blue. Current pic sort of looks like a dating ad
When I first click on this video I expected a how to type thing but instead I got so much more. I'm sitting listening to Paul's first story and I start tearing up. So I get up and got a tissue. Then the second story I just got up to get the whole box of tissues. By the third story I have used about six tissues. What is going on with me? So, now I'm trying to figure out what is Paul's uniqueness and how can I use it to serve others. So, I took away that each gift (experience) is wrapped differently but personally. Paul threw tradition in the garbage. It's about vulnerability. It's about love. Each sprinkle of a memory or message through out the evening was like Paul handing the family a flower that became a bouquet of flowers that will last a life time. I will try to find out what touches the hearts of the people that most people have in common and put that into my story with words of wisdom. That people can walk away with saying I can use that for a solution. I'm an author. My 2 books I think I have done that but not intentionally. Paul you are simple the best! You think out of the box. School doesn't teach us that. You listen to your heart. This was a great interview. Thank you The Futur
Your comments make my heart smile so big.❤ Thank you. Happy tears are kind of the best gift in the world. I love that these stories connected with you so deeply.
I have an Aunt Wendy and Uncle Rod
Sir how to become a creative and futuristic thinker and earn promotions through it in my company as engineer/employee by raising valuable work outputs ? Any book recommendations or tips to work it out as i have less experience in my field so have to find something else to grow at faster pace in corporate world and stand out from rest...
Me: what? Is it a unique spelling ? Airlume? Airloom? 🤦♂️
Heirloom
This was not so good one.I am sure that guest is expert in his field but we got zero value about thinking processes, system, sales or marketing or any idea behind his business. It's not your fault Chris, you took maximum out of the guest story, so it was hard one for you.
