    heyy, great video but I want to suggest a new way to the question number 1. So we know that the vertex is in -5,-12 and it is downward. and we also know question is asking about sum of the a,b,c which is indeed equul to f(1) [(a*1+b*1+c)]. so basically, it is asking f(1) and we know that the f(x)'s max is -12 and it should be less than it and the only choice under -12 is -19.

    • @Tutorllini
      @Tutorllini  Před měsícem +7

      Hey Payam! Thanks for sharing - that is an awesome way to look at it. I never realized that a + b + c was equal to f(1). Thanks for the lesson 💙

      f(x) = ax^2 +bx +c
      f(1)= a(1)^2 +b(1) + c
      anything times 1 is itself
      f(1) = a + b + c
      which is what the question is asking for

    • @rotimifr

      So after that. Do we get a value for f(1) so we could put it in the equation to get the answer?

    • @Tutorllini
      @Tutorllini  Před měsícem +3

      @@rotimifr No. Payam was suggesting you recognize that the vertex constitutes a MAXIMUM. The vertex is at (-5, -12). Literally any other x value will have a smaller y value (1 ≠ -5 so that is the case here). So the y-value when x = 1 must be smaller than -12 (below the maximum). The only answer choice less than -12 is A (-19). Does this clear things up for you? Maybe this picture will help. Try moving the slider for "a" and see that A is the only option.

      @Tutorllini  Před měsícem

      See for yourself!
      www.desmos.com/calculator/aot45yjp0y
      You are putting brackets there simply because you feel like it. You did not substitute (we don't know what a is) and there are no brackets in the question. Does this clear things up for you? I show in desmos even if you knew what a was and substituted you just put brackets AROUND THE LETTER (minus signs and exponents stay outside the brackets). Let me know if this helps!

    A quicker way I found question 7 was by setting x = to 5, eliminating a and letting us solve for one variable which was b

    • @Tutorllini
      @Tutorllini  Před měsícem

      Nice idea! I strongly encourage you to solve it by slopes and y-intercepts as well. If this were a MC question, you would probably need to find both a and b. Best of luck on your exam!

    @dhumidhumi1737 Před měsícem +1

    For question 2, why do we use the points on the line of best fit and not the points of plot P? (from the og data points)

    • @Tutorllini
      @Tutorllini  Před měsícem +1

      Oh! The question says "The equation for the line of best fit for data set Q...". So it is asking about the line. The dots represent ACTUAL y-values not PREDICTED y-values. There is no mention of anywhere in the question talking about ACTUAL y-values.
      "ACTUAL" => look at dots
      "PREDICTED" or "LINE OF BEST FIT" => look at line
      Does this clear things up for you?

    For question 5, how come the the scale factor is the diameter and not the radius?

    • @Tutorllini
      @Tutorllini  Před měsícem

      Either is fine! Both radius and diameter are linear measurements as covered in my Ottocento #10:
      czcams.com/video/CaXK7_k3gQU/video.html
      Using diameter:
      LSF = (22x)/(10x) = 2.2
      Using radius:
      LSF = (11x)/(5x) = 2.2
      I hope this helps!
