    I always feel safe buying stuff from Russia. They’ll label stuff as “machining tools” and pack that shit so tight it takes a solid 5 minutes to get the layers of tape off but customs has never messed with my packages

    • @MrAJayLH
      @MrAJayLH Před 2 lety +209

      Haha, that's true. We use a really lot of packing materials, since we're afraid our post may destroy the items. There's much of videos where you can see what our post workers do to the parcels sometimes

    • @user-he6un6sj3c
      @user-he6un6sj3c Před 2 lety +214

      The reason why the packages are wrapped so tightly is because Russian post is not secure whatsoever, it's common knowledge to make the contents of the package so difficult to extract that the person doing it would go "Fuck this, I'm not gonna bother.", because otherwise they will bother and between the package's origin and destination the contents will be replaced with rocks, bricks, packs of candy, you name it, anything to simulate the original weight. Not to mention how sloppily the packages are handled, ordering something that can be damaged by being bent is just asking to have it destroyed by the time it reaches you.

    I can feel this pain on a personal level. Back in 2020 I had ordered a $400 (Canadian dollars mind you) custom mini figure for DnD. It was not only custom modeled, but also hand painted, well, my sweet little boy arrived two months late, and he was completely destroyed, not salvageable at all, he was like dust in the wind. I was genuinely upset, and Ebay just shrugged their shoulders and said it wasn't their fault.

    I buy from Japanese ebay sellers as a game collector and guess what? They use the Japanese post not through any other company. It gets sent through a few other countries before hitting me but it’s never hitting eBay’s international shipping companies. It’s perfect. All my US ebay packages come through the USPS. That makes it great.
    Btw the Japanese post office for an SNES game uses a tiny bubble mailer wrapping it as tight as they can. Like the package is just big enough to hold the game so it doesn’t rattle around like crazy in the mailer. It’s just there. If it’s a DS game the person will put it in a plastic DS game protector unless they have the game case and they wrap it extra. It’s perfect!

    I felt that end bit about supporting local business. I used to get my meds from a Walgreens, and they were SEVERELY understaffed. Like I think they genuinely only had one full time pharmacy tech. The cars for the pharmacy drive thru would literately go around the entire store. But I ended up finding a local small like five stores big chain of pharmacy literately in a neighboring shopping center. Go in, they remembered me and my name by the second visit, have even refilled prescriptions on very short notice. Amazing people!
    Like this is exactly what I tell people. Even if the place isn't amazingly perfect, local businesses that at least try to give you a good experience are important. If we lose them, we end up bitches of a giant corporate machine that'll come up with new ways to screw us over with no way being able to do anything about it.

    I ordered a server GPU from a seller in the UK and used the ebay shipping as it was cheaper and supposedly just as fast as the more "traditional" shipping. It was a Tesla M40 that was supposed to have a fan mod to cool it in a regular case.
    When it arrived the box was in brutal shape. The exterior shroud had the classic massive scar and the fan was missing, with the 3d printed fan mount snapped apart. I of course got in contact with the seller, who showed pictures of the whole thing together and packaged pretty well in a different box.
    I ended up printing my own fan adapter and mounted a fan I bought from microcenter to it and have been rendering stuff on it and using it for a virtualized gaming setup for two players on one pc.

Sliced through the box so messily when they retaped the box it was more tape than box. Gee I wonder why it was stapled shut guys. They also took the springs out of the box, then just taped the box around each spring with bubble wrap, absolutely hilarious. Also for the car the springs were for, 85 Subaru GL-10 wagon, for some strange reason some place in Australia made not only OE springs, but higher strength springs too! Literally only place I could find them world wide. Man that $260 shipping was worth those fancy bigger springs.

    i now have an ebay woe story, and i didn't even use the global shipping since i'm from the uk. i ordered an ac for my room because it can be either too cold in winter or too hot in summer, and i found one that was affordable it was basically perfect. when it arrives, the packaging is absolutely busted, and whenever you move the ac in the slightest whilst it's on, it immediately switches off. it also has a feature to display room temperature and not even that works properly, it's always flickering. thankfully it still works, like it still warms and cools my room and that's all i asked for since that's the bare minimum. and that's the reason i don't complain since, technically, i got what i wanted. but it's hard to ignore the faults, you wanna adjust it or move it somewhere else, you can but it'll just turn off. it's also not great at picking up when you use the remote it came with. thanks ebay, i'm going back to amazon

    I never have this issue while using eBay for many years but I still aware about these can happen to me at anytime. Mostly issues I experienced with eBay so far are either package gone missing, too long delivery time or straight up broken on arrival. Which all of them get resolved and/or refunded very quickly.
    Sometimes when I want to buy something, eBay is only the option I have as product I need is not available both locally and outside eBay or too expensive to buy outside eBay. Which is not good at all.

    This is why I always pay with a card, because then you can use the chargeback procedure. I got scammed on eBay last year (for 200 USD). eBay deleted the sellers account (including the listing) because it was suspicious. And because the listing was gone, I couldn't complain to eBay. I sent a message to my bank, explaining what happened (with screenshots, seller name, card number, date, transaction id, etc), and after a month I had my money back. I didn't have to fill out any paperwork, didn't have to talk to anybody. One message, and that was it. Crisis averted.
    This procedure always applies, when you don't receive a product, or product/service is different from advertised. You get money back from your card issuer. Definitely works for Visa and Mastercard cards. Not sure about other card issuers.
