its a 2.5 cube box after sub bracing and port displacement and the port is tuned to 28. all doubled 3/4 mdf for build and has 2 3" dowel rods with all thread through them for the braces. port has a 3/4 flare on the port breech and a 1.5" flare on the corners and the begining

I'm all about sound quality now. I'm running Hybrid Audio Legatia SE highs and mids, JLHD600/4 amp, etc. The Boston sub I have is punchy and has great clarity, I didn't buy it to be the loudest. The Sundown X line is a great sub if you want to be loud. Without getting off topic, my point is that whether you drive a nice car or a cheaper one, make it look good. I see clean Civics all the time, but the riced out ones make me cringe. I have a 770 hp CTS-V, but you don't see me putting racing stickers or wings on it to look fast. I'm not going to argue with you though, I like your setup a lot. Nothing wrong with scaring the shit out of people with bass in a Volvo.

I got a 2000 EM1 making a modest 210hp on a mustang dyno. It's not much but jm building it slowly and when I have a son or daughter she can get into jdm with that car. I hope I can keep it forever and ever. I'll eventually put a K20/K24 combo with a Jackson racing, fully built and sleeved bottom end with a modest head build. How well is the X12's sound quality? I know it's primarily a low end driver but I'm curious how well other music sounds besides low frequency rap. I'm thinking about selling my IDMAX 12 and getting an X12.
it really depends on your box, however with my set up tuned to 28 hz I have great sound quality for all types of rap r&b and pop. the only downside is certain songs can be over powered by the bass. I really need to up grade my mids and highs.

ok, my bad you're running a 100 wat alpine amp, so my 1200 wat kicker amp should do the job. I am getting one of these, you can probably hear the lows like a mile away, lol.
Hey just curious as I was contemplating this same Alpine amp but I noticed you stated that it sends a "bad signal" to your sub. I thought Alpine was pretty good. I too have a DD-1. Haven't purchased an amp yet but now I am a bit skeptical about it. Is this amp garbage as someone commented? If so, how so. Thanks man.
its not bad, but it does distort it will do id say about 900 rms 1%thd
at the last comp I went to I had a guy dd-1 it and he had to turn it down
I set mine with a dvom (multimeter) to 950 watts on a 2 ohm resitance coil (so no box rise) and he turned the gain down about 5 or so degrees
do what I should've done and save up for a sundown, skar, dc, crescendo, aq or something along that line

Why did you go with the 12 and not the 15? Im looking at running the X series just havent made up my mind of which one I want to go with.
the 15 has such a low fs it would be almost impossible to find non- modified songs that play well
so I went with the 12 so I could have some musical abilities
Im contempalting selling my W7 12 and buying an X12. Thoughts?
the w7 is more musical than the x-12. id say keep your set up and add more sound deadening and upgrade components and possibly your amp dependant on what you have now. as far as a theil specs go the w7 and x-12 can both perform very well and both can impress and do very well in terms of spl and sq so keep the w7 and work around it

That's crazy you got that kind of sound out of a stock electrical system (overlooking the big 3 lol). I'm lucky if I'm getting 500W RMS out of my Rockford r1200-1D fed from my 2001 4Runner stock electrical system.
lol thank you it really does help the fact that I had 1/0 wire as power runs it nearly kills my car though lol.... but now I have 2 runs of 1/0 with a kinetic hc1400 under the hood and about to add one to the back before I finish the wall off in the trunk I done have voltage drop past 12.3 volts ( measured using a snap on multi meter w freeze frame data logging)
If you want to keep your voltage from dropping that drastically, you'd probably be best off upgrading your alt before even getting a second battery. If you put a second battery back there, sure, you can pull big current for a little longer, but eventually you're gonna be limited by the max current output of your alternator. That is, unless you're planning to push your system with the car off.

whats the cu-ft after displacement, i have an x-10 in my sonoma and recently got a 95 civic ex d15b7 and would like to put my x-10 in it and a zv4 in my sonoma, the x-10 is currently in a 2.83cu-ft box after displacement right now, you should check it out
just got back form a comp got a 140.3 sealed on dash... I was surprised
not bad. we all started somewhere. i don't compete anymore but i can still do over 140 as low as 24hz. keep at it and post more vids as you progress and change things up.
How is the sound quality on the x12 I Have gotten a lot of mixed reviews on it
its all in the box I built ine for more music than spl only downside is I tuned mine a little low for a lot of common music but it helps because I t doesn't overpower the mids and highs

You know facing your subwoofers towards the back will make the base on a lot better
The bass will sound "louder" but it won't be felt in the car as much in that way. Best combination is sub forward and port to the side and with the enclosure pushed all the way to the back/sub and port as far as possible from the windshield. Even in my car I always had sub back/port back, but if you never use your rear seats I would just say fire the sub forward with the port to the side and the seats folded down

quite honestly the term best can be taken differently. is it best for sound quality, best for spl, best for an all around. i dont know whitch one your going for. but i will say for the price of this sub it gave me plently of spl (in my taste) and still retained sound quailty (thtas more the box but a high end sub does have better sound quality). if you want a very comparable sub of the same price range look into american bass. skar, and dc audio. they all have subs in the mid 300 buck range that perform very well... in my opinion if your going spl get a dc audio. if you want a daily listening sub thats more sound quailty get the american bass if you want a sub to just shake the fuck out of your car the sundown x is your beast. skarr has a sub very similair to the sundown x but it has a higher resonant frequency so it will do better in the mid 30s and low 40s than the sundwon x would. but its all in the box it will define hwo the sub performs....
