If you build a 4-5 cu.ft. enclosure you can then use various measured sizes of wood (attach to interior walls of enclosure with Velcro to ensure no movement) or XPS foam. it's a gnarly sub for sure, but I think your opinion at the end is pretty spot on, the X series is super close to it now with the v3 especially. Good bang for your buck with the X and the Z is more for the extreme end of the spectrum.
I just bought one but what is all that rattling sound?sub, box, suv,or a little of each? I personally think you need a bigger box so I’m getting a 2.5 cubic ft box built after displacement.
The box what you using for testing is optimised for Sundown X12 V2, then of course it have the biggest chance that it will be the loudest - and obivously in your case it was up to date. I'm not saying that it is wrong, just not as accurate SPL results as it could be, because the subs you tested, had not equal chances, because of a box what is not optimal for them - maybe for some close, but not optimal. I mean with this, in my opinion 1 of DeafBonce or American Bass, or Skar sub maybe would outperform the X12 V2 in a proper box made for them, but maybe not... I think this Z easily will outperform the X V2 in a box optimised for it, so yeah, I would like to see it in a proper box. And also an idea: custom boxes made for your best subs. My case: I have a Gladen RS-X 6.5 sub, I made a custom ported box optimised for it's TS parameters from the specs sheet like almost everybody doing when designing a custom box for a sub with not the manufacturer's recommended box specs. I found out that a Sundown X6.5 have similar shaped transfer function graph curve in any box like that Gladen sub, even their peaks are at the same freq in any box in a same listening enviroment, so I compared them with simulations: I simulated the X6.5 in the Gladen's box, and the Gladen was louder by few tenths of dB at the peak + up to 3-3.5 dB off from the peak on it's RMS power (250 W) like the X6.5 on it's RMS power (300 W), but the X6.5 not reached it's xmax, the Gladen just touched it's xmax, because for X6.5 is acceptable a bigger net volume box. After this I designed a custom box for the X-6.5, the X-6.5's peak was louder like the Gladen's in the Gladen's box, and also simulated in the X6.5 box both drivers, had the same transfer function differences like I wrote down just before on their RMS powers. But Gladen overpassed it's Xmax, so, I needed reduce the power for it in simulations, and after that obivously X6.5 became much louder like the Gladen at the peak, even Gladen was quieter at the peak like in it's box, but still a tiny bit louder off from the peak like the X6.5, just now I can't prove this with real tests, because Sundown's stuff is 1 - hardly avialable in my country, or 2 - it is way too expensive mainly because of shipping payments and similar things... So, in any means, boxes optimised for the given drivers giving always the best results like for me: Gladen outperforms X6.5 in a box made for Gladen, because the Gladen box is a bit small for the X6.5, and X6.5 outperforms the Gladen in a box optimised for X6.5, because the X6.5 box is too big for Gladen, and even X6.5 outperforms the Gladen at the peak freq when both are simulated in their boxes = both subs have very similar sounding, Sundown is somewhat louder, but needs a bigger space, Gladen is somewhat more musical/daily, and needs a smaller place...maybe there's something similar reason why all (mainly "flaghip") subs you tested were quieter like the X12 V2 - maybe for some of them is a need for a bigger box because it's not using the driver's max output potential, or some of them is a need for a smaller box because the drivers starting to have bigger excursion at 70 percent of Bl on smaller power like in an optimal box... Or let's say even if the X12 V2 is truely the loudest, but I think the order from 2nd place downwards would be different for sure.
@nate0 this is true, but I still invert cut one side of the gasket isn't flat but one is 90% of the time . It makes a difference in en losses that have had a few suvs ran thru and stuff

Oh And Was That Noise When You We're Playing Free Air Just Air Rushing By The Enclosure Opening Or Was That Suspension Creaking/Hissing?
When you got a Zv6.. You need to change that Amp and that Box. Also.. have the sub face the rear of the Truck for corner loading. You need a Bass 15k for that Sub or a 8k Korean board ran at .05 ohms.
Im surprised that Dave had the time to repair your sub. I had him build me four Sundown X8V3 with his DL Designs upgraded coils, one of them blew the tinsel lead within a few months. I tried contacting him several times, using several different methods but never got a response. I ultimately had to pay to get it repaired. I am not knocking Sundown or the subs that Dave builds but I cannot recommend him due to poor customer service and not honoring his warranty. I wish people would take pride in their work and take care of their customers.
We have sent several messages Dave and not one reply either so, yea, we will shop elsewhere. People get "too big" and then forget the people who helped get them there. "The customer"
Great example of when a guy says all you have to do is invert the subwoofer, give it more airspace in its enclosure and it will be louder. Inverting is not always the answer
Hey Parker, from your experience what are the “MUST HAVES” with DIY systems? As in the gadgets you use to measure power, hz, dB, etc. I installed my 1st system, basically half assed tuning and would like to get it proper before doing more. Thanks!
4 of those would be dope in your Toyota man! Perfect power setup. EMF Banhammer v2s are almost in stock too btw man! Any day now! You should get a 12 to test. $469 I believe? Close anyways. 4” coil, 3k rms. Curious how it stacks up to the others you have. Fs of 29, so they like the lows even more than this zv6 in theory. Just picked up a Salt 6k for a couple of them. Keep up the good work bro!
You are lacking on port area for that sub, what is the overall dimensions for that enclosure you put it in? Not all 2.5 cubic foot enclosures have the same external or internal dimensions.
What you think about the sound quality of this sub? Jonathon Price said in a video that some people compete in sound quality with these subs which I find hard to believe as I never seen it. But would be nice to have a big sub that does sound really good and accurate instead of sounding sloppy like most all the subs do.
There's a hifi associate of Sundown called Stereo Integrity. I believe they use the same motors but a less stiff suspension to lower the fs. They seem to recommend going sealed with these. Seems they have a big following among DIY audiophiles. You may want to check them out. Though I bet the ZV6 sounds great as is.
How much wattage did it peak at for 145.3 score? Seeing if it's fair comparison to that EM sub you put 11 thousands watts. Oh you said 5000 watts. Could it handle more than that?
Buddy you need twice the box you got for that monster and that sub is a 6th order bandpass monster. It will go hard in a 4th order too but 6th order will make it go bonkers. That 1 sub is a 150 db all day sub in that truck with that amp

What Kinda Shows The Box Isn't Ideal Is Your Impedance Rise. It's Only Going From .5 To 2.2Ish. My Subs Rise From .5 To 5.8 Ohms A Little Past Box Tuning Hz. Alot Of SPL Guys Rise Even Higher.
Oh And Was That Noise When You We're Playing Free Air Just Air Rushing By The Enclosure Opening Or Was That Suspension Creaking/Hissing?
Saw the thumbnail and thought it was Banjo from Flair’s CZcams channel
Would you recommend 2 sundown sa v2 10s. I’m looking at those or resilient sounds gold 10 or b2 riot 10s. Which one would you recommend
He basically warranted the subwoofer only because it's on CZcams he wouldn't have given him the time of day any other way
I run Pioneer & PSIs
We have sent several messages Dave and not one reply either so, yea, we will shop elsewhere. People get "too big" and then forget the people who helped get them there. "The customer"
@@SheikhN-bible-syndrome Yup and who knows how much special care they put into the rebuild because he's a youtuber.
Big facts
Great example of when a guy says all you have to do is invert the subwoofer, give it more airspace in its enclosure and it will be louder. Inverting is not always the answer
Any thoughts on doing amp reviews to see if one pushes harder than another one like Korean vs Brazilian
this sub is sick
Hey Parker, from your experience what are the “MUST HAVES” with DIY systems? As in the gadgets you use to measure power, hz, dB, etc. I installed my 1st system, basically half assed tuning and would like to get it proper before doing more. Thanks!
How it sounds is all personal preference, I recommend you buy a voltage meter to make sure your able to monitor everything safely whenever listening
Bro i got a b2 audio rampage 15, never got yo break it in, this vid made me eager to lol
You are lacking on port area for that sub, what is the overall dimensions for that enclosure you put it in? Not all 2.5 cubic foot enclosures have the same external or internal dimensions.
Nice bro!
What you think about the sound quality of this sub? Jonathon Price said in a video that some people compete in sound quality with these subs which I find hard to believe as I never seen it. But would be nice to have a big sub that does sound really good and accurate instead of sounding sloppy like most all the subs do.
Agree!!
Resilient sounds 💪💪💪💪
Parker let's trie out the 20.000 rms taramp amplifier with 4-15"d1 punishers
What a beast!
Yes. Worth every penny.
i need a list of the music you was playing, sounds good homie
How much wattage did it peak at for 145.3 score? Seeing if it's fair comparison to that EM sub you put 11 thousands watts. Oh you said 5000 watts. Could it handle more than that?
I'm putting that with my sundown SFB8k some time soon
what are the deminsion's on the box if you could please help me out trying to build a box for the same exact sub.
I need like 3 of these
I love that sub
Hey how much was your sub box. Is a skar prefab box the best in the market
If you live close to sundown will you be at the bass show next year?
u should try out the harmony audio monolith 15 it looks like a budget banger
I’m about 20 min from Sundown HQ lol we must stay close
will you ever get a 9500 series DD to review or a JL Audio w7 to review???
Hey Parker, really interested in hearing the 12" Onyx from Resilient Sounds. Every thought about testing one of these?
Yeah we need some resilient sounds on the channel
@CUJO & FRIENDS I miss my resilient sounds team 15 that was a monster sub I thought it was a 12 because the motor is so dam big
@Quetzalcoatl Toltec Sun God what happened to your RS team sub?
@@itdoesntmatterwhatyourname6128 Not long after I bought it I had to sell it to buy a new TV
Can you review something off Fi?
Let's see this vs the Deaf Bonce 3512R!!!
i like that sub moves when you played coca cola
Should I do 2 American bass Hd 12s or a single one of these zv6 15
Buddy you need twice the box you got for that monster and that sub is a 6th order bandpass monster. It will go hard in a 4th order too but 6th order will make it go bonkers. That 1 sub is a 150 db all day sub in that truck with that amp
Hello sir
I want use
ZV 6 dual 12 subwoofer.
So say me which is best Mono Block Amplifier use its....
Its my Favourite Subwoofer
I like to watch it this Subwoofer...

It needs a bigger box but even still sounds pretty good
Hey parker I want some info I have 2 mtx 9515s and I want thm reconed who and were can I get that done?
This sub is for hitting lows more than getting as loud as possible
I have a x12 v3 on sia 3500 always wonder if I would gain much by switching to a zv6
Hey bro how’s the sia 3500 keeping up
I wanted to put one on a sundown audio u12
Did you play with phasing of the sub inverted?
Hello I will always be your subscriber
Thank you!!!
Figure out what size of box for a 15” that you want to use in the future test? Port size etc and I’ll see what I can find
Did you build that sub enclosure? or did you buy it
Wow, so the skars you tested did the same for a 1/4 of the price? A single evl 12 can get 144.4 for $200
