    Well I can't find your reply from yesterday so I will just put my response in here. Very busy for us too. Got about 2300 cloves in this year, but got them in late. Last ones went in around mid December so I am hoping they have enough time to get established.

      Cool, mid december here is covered in snow, my understanding is as long as you can dig the ground you can put them in. I think its more about them already being in the ground ready to go as the temps start to warm and they get to start as soon as monther nature allows. I am not sure about how much rooting happens in the fall? Thanks for the video idea. This fall I will plant and then dig up a couple as it turns to winter to see how many roots if any have started. Hopefully you are resting a bit now, we are not far off from the season starting again. I am thinking of planting some pepper and onions seeds under lights in the next day or two! Thanks again for reaching out, I am always on so if any other questions or ideas come up feel free to fire them my way. Take care

    I spaced mine at 3 inches and they did beautifully! Med to large bulbs. They are soft neck types not hard neck. Wonder if that makes a difference?

      Hi, great to hear, always happy when crops turn out. I too am unsure if hard vs soft neck makes a differnence on planting space. I have only ever grown hard neck....you got me thinking I should try soft necks. Thanks for watching and your comment

      @@EasyGardenHacks Soft Necks do well in the South, I don’t know if northern growers plant them:) Hard necks do not do as well here in Oklahoma. When I grew them they were puny-lol

      @@dixiedixon2210 Yes I recall reading that somewhere and it is probably why I have not ever tried. Every climate is different and learning the right varieties can make a huge difference. Glad we are all able to get/grow that yummy garlic!!

    I have to ask if you harvest all the garlic by digging by hand or do you have ANOTHER hack? Just dug all 650 of mine and it was quite the chore

    • @EasyGardenHacks
      @EasyGardenHacks  Před 3 lety

      Hi good question, I have yet to sort out a hack for digging them up. I pull them all by hand. It is a fair ammount of work for sure. I will put my mind towards the issues shortly as I will be harvesting soon myself. Well done!! 650 is no joke. Just think that could turn into 1500-2000 ++ next season! Yikes it starts to multiply fast when you get into these numbers. My issue is going to be space soon, hopefully you have lots of it.
      I do have a technique for bundling and hanging them using binder twine (have a video showing that) but I think you were more asking about the digging up part of it?

      Yes, but I am always willing to steal other people's ideas! Any words of advice on drying them quickly or is patience the key?

    • @EasyGardenHacks
      @EasyGardenHacks  Před 3 lety

      @@FWYSGT dont bundle too many in each bunch as that will increase you dry/cure time. I do max 10, 10 is also easy math to see how many you have. Hang in a well ventilated area out of direct sunlight. Doont hang too close (hard when you have as many as we do) If you are experiencing the heat I am now (42 celcius, 107 F) they will likely dry out quick. Then patience.

      @@EasyGardenHacks well I also have shallots that I am curing which complicates things. You look like you had a good crop. How many bulbs? And as an aside the scapes are IT!

      @@FWYSGT Hi, I have never tried shallots what are they like to grow? Similar to garlic? I have pulled 4/5 of the crop now, heat took them out early unfortunately. I am at 2570 currently. Scapes are great, I mostly sell them. Did you get hit with that heat wave last week (44c 111f here for many days)?
