    To be fair UEFA officials did all they could (almost 'duty-like') by not penalising Italy during the match in the last final for at least 5 MAJOR offenses that I can remember of, including a sending off that never occurred for Italy (fouling the last player between defender & goalkeeper!) and a penalty that wasn't given to England (foul on Sterling)... we should have been 2-0 up and playing against 10 men AT WORST by the time they 'scored'! Say what you like but Italy have cheated through most of their empty 'victories'. I'd rather we lose than have to cheat to win. I'm not a bad loser... SALTY maybe (but who wouldn't be) but not a bad loser.

    The real issue is Southgate - yes England have had some decent finishes in tournaments with him over the years, but who's to say that they may have have won some of those tournaments if Southgate wasn't the manager.
    This really is a special team with some very special and greatly talented players within it, such as Kane, Bellingham, Saka, Foden, Rice, Stones, Palmer, Grealish, Alexander-Arnold, Walker etc etc....
    But with Southgate as manager employing a slow, low attacking (at times) style of football in contrast to other countries high attacking, fast paced style, it is clear that without a new manager - England could really struggle to win anything.
    Not to say that it is impossible though, but with a NEW manager - England could really do some proper damage with that attack.

  • @MartialFitness656
    @MartialFitness656 Před 23 dny +3

    We know Foden is better as a no 10 or RW but those positions are taken I think a way to get the best out of him is 4-3-3 (or 4-2-3-1) but in possession 3-2-4-1 . Having the right back tuck into to be the 3rd CB, the left back attack up the flank becoming a LW in attack allowing Foden to tuck in becoming LAM next to Bellingham at RAM.
    The only problem is who would be LB, as Chilwell has been bad this season and shaw is injured.

    • @walllion94
      @walllion94 Před 23 dny +1

    • @beninnes8669
      @beninnes8669 Před 17 dny

      @@walllion94 I agree here too, Trippier starts at LB for me, with either Walker or Trips, going forward at any one time. Let us not forget we have one of the best holding midfielders in the world in Declan Rice, so a strong back 3 plus Rice's powerhouse engine and super-human recovery, we should have a pretty solid defence, without doubt, our most worrying positions in the team, being without a natural LB and missing a second world class CB, but Maguire hasn't let England down yet, so I would be pretty confident we would perform well with this team, especially against France, with Kyle Walker able pocket Mbappe... hopefully

    Doubtful. Kane might be out due to injury already, same with Shaw, and White refuses to play for England.
    Theres some heavy blows to the team right off the bat.
    And be carful calling so kany players 'world class'. I have yet to see Watkins prove himself in competition and toney havent even had the chance yet.

    • @CMJames
      @CMJames Před 23 dny +2

      Shaw is definitely out, so the choice of left footed left back is slim pickings. Luke Shaw is the best by a long shot in my opinion. Kane is now in doubt, and Watkins will not do anything significant on the international stage he ain’t that guy.
      I don’t expect England to win

    • @Whoami691
      @Whoami691 Před 23 dny +1

      @@CMJames i wouldn't call it just yet, but if they are out England's odds look slimmer. I can only.think of putting Palmer in at number 9 since he's the closest we have to a kane replacement.
      Unless Southgate bites the bullet and calls up greenwood. He was meant to be the one to take over...untill...'it' happened.
      The loss of kane might well be fatal though.

    • @TheFootball-Library
      @TheFootball-Library  Před 23 dny +3

      I think Toney/Watkins are slightly underrated in this. England would still be top 3/4 favourites with no Kane?

    • @Whoami691
      @Whoami691 Před 23 dny

      @@TheFootball-Library I dunno, depends on the other favourites, but without kane England has no out and out finisher at that level, it's scary how much we rely on kane.
      Toney hasn't proved himself at the top level and Watkins is simply not at that level. Don't get me wrong, he is good at what he does, but he will be going up against real giants and he's just not there.
      You'd have better luck shoving Palmer into kanes role as his finishing from range is far better. Watkins tends to be on point with his positioning but isn't as good from range.
      Kane can do both. That what makes him so good.
      I will say that England's chances have taken a very heavy blow without kane up front and Shaw at the back only made worse by White's refusal to play for England.
      Like I said earlier, the only other player in England's corner with the potential to be the next Kane is Greenwood. And he isn't going to get picked for obvious reasons.
