I pre-ordered the Thrawn Book on Amazon
Secutorx2 vs bellator
Bellator easy.
I think the resurgent is definitely at second place
EckhartsLadder *A WEAPON TO SURPASS METALGEAR*
It's ironic that the imperial ships are designed like they are meant to be in water and the mon cal ships (which are built under water) are designed to be in space
Star wars Space combat is basically treated like sea warfare.
Yeah but that just makes this EVEN MORE IRONIC
How do imperial ships look like.. well they do look kind of like naval warships... and Mon Cala ships do look like space station modules homogeneously connected together... yeah I see what you mean
Arguably imperial ships are designed to be ON TOP of the water, resembling old ironclad blue-water navies and optimized for 2D. A species like the Mon Cal, living underwater, would be far more proficient at thinking of combat in true 3D rather than 2D layers, and designing their vessels as such. While probs not the intention at the time, it's my head canon explanation, especially when in Legends the Imp Star was primarily built for the absurd terror aspect and the Mon Cal are described as masterful ship builders/designers.
Even in water, Imperial ship design is pretty inefficient, in terms of weapon layout.
Wow. The Nebula... A beautifully crafted starship, it is. And as a bonus, I have it carved in wood as a miniature figurine.
Davis Joseph Pereira Umaña WHERE DID YOU GET IT
Dr.Winfrey I make them with a hacksaw and a few sandpapers. I forage for wood thrown on the streets of my home town here in Costa Rica, and then use my reference images in order to produce them. My total collection of starships from the Rebellion/New Republic/New Jedi Order Eras along with my very first models of the Clone Wars era are comprised of 125 pieces.
You are awesome!
I am flattered. Plus, tomorrow I gotta finish the most newest addition: the Sabaoth-class destroyer, my very first Clone Wars Era starship made in 1 year. It is the 126th set piece in this collection!
Bro.... post that shit on CZcams!!!
Nebula class star destroyer is my favorite star destroyer and I like that the crew is smaller and I hope it comes back to canon. Great video glad you talked about it.
Gerardo Reyes i pertend legends are canon
bricky_sir me too sometimes
hey disney
pay me $15,000 and i’ll say your canon is true canon. 20,000 and i’ll change my head canon.
I just like it in TR... it's just so OP...
They will call it a star hawk just to screw with you.
For Legends, I'd say that the Nebula-class is best. For New Canon, I'd say that honor goes to the Resurgent-class.
Nebula would crush that ship
Delta 23 legends calculations are always significantly higher than Disney canon calcs, so that doesn’t say much about the ships.
@J1nx the resurgent isn't weak by any means, it's one if the few things I actually like from the disney canon but nebula's utilize mon calamari shields and armor plus they are equiped with more modern weaponary than the resurgent.
@J1nx I didn't say it was weak either all I'm saying is if a nebula can 1v1 an allegiance and preator it can easily take on a resurgent.
@J1nx I agree
Star destroyers=space doritos.
They get eaten up just as easily in battle, it feels too.
Would I eat a grey dorito though...
Darth Vader you can’t eat them sadly.
your balls=roasted peanut
Not all of them were full Doritos, some were Doritos with bites taken out of the sides of them. Think of the Venator, or Victory star destroyer.
My favorite thing about it? It doesn't have that stupidly obvious bridge/sensor tower jutting up from the main structure! Granted, both are still visible, but the Nebula's bridge and sensors are better placed. Now, all it needs is point defense structures set up around them, and it really will be perfect!
TheSinquisitor I’d rather see a solid durasteel bridge that had internal screens than some plexiglass (or whatever they’re made of) windows. Still I agree that the look of the bridge is hard to beat
Colin Thorneycroft Then it could be deep within the ship. Only trouble is it could be jammed
Nicholas Heathfield anti-jamming tech exists, and I’d take relying on only sensors for combat that is mostly out of visual range over a big weak spot
I mean, is it really a Star Destroyer if the Empire didn't design it?
Pizza slices with exposed bridges & shield projectors FTW!
Star Destroyer refers to the Dagger shape, not who made it.
Also don't eat a Star destroyer it won't taste very nice (speaking from experience)
It tastes like Disney.
Justafan IV
Well, look up Aggressor Stardestroyer. It was designed by the Empire and did not look like a slice of pizza. The point about exposed bridge and shield projectors remains though
Republic made star destroyers? So why can’t the New Republic do the same?
Justafan IV The Star Destroyer is a class
I'm sorry, the classic venator to me is still the gold standard for an SD. It may have the bridge flaw, it's dorsal hanger may be a weak point, but 500 snubs is just baffaling.
Hey, the hangar doors are the best feature of that ship. :D
Wasn't it 400?
420 to be exact. Imagine X-Wings, Y-Wings, B-Wings......
And people say 3 Venators couldn't take on a Star Destroyer. 5 Y-Wings litterally disabled one. It's the exact opposite.
Dr. Boring seriously, a venator II would have been far more effective.
bohba13 Na, cause then the Rebels would get raped and there would be no Episodes 4-6.
Man i can remember your old vs Series. you improved so much since then
Keep up the work 💪👍
I love ur content even though I have only recently be watching a short while please keep doing what ur doing man favourite youtuber
Replicators vs a Unified Star Wars universe (279th try now, *_I._** WILL NEEEEVER EEEVER GIVE UP!!!)*
Yes
+George Washington Yes mister president
Eck come on. Just do this video. It’ll be coming up on a year very, very soon...
Heck, I still want a spot for a Keith Laumer Bolo.
BUT MY HOPE WILL NEVER DIE
The Nebula class star destroyer is by far my favorite, most efficient, & best star destroyer in the New Republic fleet.
Best way to end my break at work
No worries! 😊
I love the community interactions dude, keep it up!
Venator-class all the way. Good mix of weapons and fighters, not to mention the awesome design.
Captain Cutter But severely lacking in overall firepower. Nebula Class is the epitome of what a star destroyer should be
Tenno Shenaniganizer The Resurgent Class Star Destroyer is leagues ahead of the Nebula. It carries 1500 weapons emplacements, and 144 Fighters.
Alliegence class you ningen
really cool design, but that overly exposed bridge is a bit of an issue
The venator makes up for that with overwhelming starfighter support, a proof of its supperirity is that an entire galaxy wide fleet was made out of it. It also was the first sd and if you compare it to ships that are multiple decades older, of course its gonna fare not that well, but i still will say a well balanced and led fleet whit the venator as its backbone with modern starfighters could beat anything.
Now I really wish your Empire at War NR campaign didn't crash before you got to these ships, I really would like to see them in action.
Edit: And with your debate on whether or not to concentrate on the Thrawn book or videos, take as much time as you need reading it, I prefer quality over quantity any day. It's not like we're going to have you thrown in jail if you don't fulfill your "quota".
We won't be Thrawn in jail you mean xD
@Optimusbauer that's exactly what I thought when I was writing the comment.
These things are beast in TR sad you never see era V NR in a normal GC while playing as not the NR, I had to play the era V GC’s to test out the new class ships
And I knew it was gonna be this ship !!
Jesus Arredondo From the sillouete, i thought it was nebula or Sovereign.
I would combine the venator, the liberty class, the defender and the clone assault ship for my ship
This channel is so cool!!
I simply can’t get enough of your videos. Plus this video is the perfect example of the fact that size doesn’t matter.
As much as Grand Admiral Thrawn despised the New Republic he had to have loved this ship due to its practicality
Dude Your channel has grown a lot! Keep it up I love your content
You produce some of the best content and I love it. I’ve been here for about 7 months now I think, maybe less. But I love your channel man
This is my favorite type of video eck, Keep it up!
I was listening to music on youtube and it totally played Home - Resonance. I was like WAIT THIS IS ECKHARTSLADDER MUSIC. Haha. I love your videos about Star Wars! Thanks so much!!
Hi,i'm french and i love your vidéos!Can you do a battle breakdown on the battle of utapau 'cause I LOVE the 212 attack bataillon !
EckhartsLadder This is my favorite video of all of your videos! Although the Endurance class is my favorite Captial ship I love the Nebula! Thank You for making this!
if you haven't done it already, can you do a vid about X-wing variants?
please and thank you. 😀
Hi eck! I loved the vid! Keep up the good work!
Keep up the great work! Your channel gives me a great break from exam studying and just in general helps me get through! Keep up the amazing content
I would just like to say that your halo videos are amazing and I would love to have more on the ODST and their training and equipment
EckhartsLadder is the best thing to happen since KOTOR 1, hands down. Keep up the good work 👍
Eck makes the best videos. Easily my favorite channel for sci fi stuff
yaasssss!!! I loved this design so much! like its practical and looks great to boot!
Good video eckhart! :)
The nebula is my absolute favorite capital ship in Star Wars and I'm so happy to see a video featuring it! It is such an underrated ship. I feel so validated!
Honestly, whatever you feel will give you the best analysis of Thrawn is what I would love to see. What drew me to this channel is your exceptional analysis of the character, who I feel is extremely underrated by most.
please do the A wing vs a Viper Mk 2 (BSG)
I think another fairly well designed ship in Star Wars Legends was the Harrower class dreadnought of the Sith Empire. It had loads of heavy turbolasers for immense firepower, had a bunch of quad laser cannons for point defense, ion cannons, concussion missiles and proton torpedoes. The weapons seemed to have been placed fairly evenly around the ship except maybe some limited firing arc at the rear.
It had 5 hangar bays that held 95 starfighters, 32 bombers and 35 shuttles along with 7300 imperial soldiers. Along with heavy shielding and heavy hull plating, i think it is the best designed ancient ship
Always wondered about this ship after playing it in Empire at War Thrawn revenge. Thanks for the info. Love the vid
Great informative video!
Paradoxically, ISD (besides overexposed parts) wasn't bad design. Could be used as capital ship and carrier in combat, had reasonable troop detachment for boarding or invading planets, however in all tasks wasn't better than dedicated vessels such as Acclamator, Ton-Falk or Allegiance. Smaller size of Nebula meant that there is no place for ground troops and more supply if assuming to be on par/a bit better with ISD in defensive and offensive capabilities.
Hey EckhartsLadder, I’ve been a fan of your videos for quite some time and I think you’re a great content creator. Also, was wonder if we can have a friendly game of Empire at War? Would be fun.
Personal I am okay with what ever you decide to do you make amazing videos and keep up the good work
Nice video keep up good work
I like this ship also but some times it looks like they made the Empire some what clueless against the rebels when they clearly had the numbers and the firepower + materials to get the job done but there war fighting tactic and skill level was lacking? Almost too hard to believe!
I finally did it I love your channels
Spartans vs N7 and UNSC Marines vs System Alliance Marines
Now that's a nice shape. No giant "SHOOT HERE" command section. I approve.
Gotta be honest, I think the Nebula class is my favorite star destroyer. Man that thing looks so damn beautiful! Amd fractalsponge makes it look so damn AMAZING!
How can you make all this nitty-gritty specifications technobabble sound so fascinating? If you hosted lectures on Star Wars craft, I would gladly attend. 😊
Instead of sleeping, this is what I'm doing, watching the best lore channel
Every time I watch your videos I get the urge to play star wars empire at war, I want a new one with updated graphics and extended features. I miss playing campaign in that game
Outro for the win love it!! XD
Eckharts can you do a video in Empire at War showcasing the Nebula in action, just so we can see it do what it's meant to do: Kill ISDs. Always thought the Nebula was under-used in so many ways simply because they didn't want the NR using a bunch of SDs. Love the vid, great work, hope to see more content in the future
Such a small shop going against an Executor is just..... unimaginable
Meant to say ship, typo
Your awesome love your videos!
It has the power to surpass metalgear
Justin Y. U are ever
I saw you on tech insider
When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie, a weapon to surpass Metalgear.
How are you always here before me
Justin Y.
Really?
What a coincidence. I had just recently read about this ship and its sister class, _Endurance_ fleet carrier, in _The_ _Essential_ _Guide_ _to_ _Warfare_ . Good to see a video that fully explores this vessel.
The puppo at the end got me. lol
I personally believe the Venator-class is a well designed warship which, if not for its age, would have been a good ship for the Rebel/New Republic Fleet.
1. It's carrying capacity: The Venator can carry four hundred fighters into battle. Imagine how effective four hundred X-Wings, A-Wings, and Y-Wings would be? The X-Wing alone was more then a match for most TIE variants, even when heavily outnumbered. If several wings were deployed from a single Venator, that could easily turn the tide of any space battle, as even X-Wings can take out large capital ships occasionally.
2. Firepower: In Clone Wars, it is REPEATEDLY demonstrated in battles at Devaron, Ryloth, and several others that a Venator is a POWERFUL warship. At Devaron in particular, ONE decimated an entire Separatist fleet. Granted it was under the command of Anakin Skywalker and had plot armor, but still, the power of that ship is clear. While outclassed by the Imperial-line of classes, it could still be used fairly well as a carrier.
3. Availability: The Republic built thousands of these vessels during the Clone Wars. At Coruscant alone, over a thousand participated. The Empire scrapped most of them relatively soon after the end of the Clone Wars, and an entire class of mass produced ships being retired so quickly would likely mean that hundreds, if not thousands, were left adrift. I'm surprised the Rebels didn't take advantage of that simple fact. Granted, by the Battle of Yavin, most were likely not usable, but still, a few could have still been used. In the Legends Novel Death Star, a Lucrehulk(an even older design, dating to the Battle of Naboo)-class Battleship was deployed against the Death Star.
4. It's versatility: The Venator was capable in every role it was deployed in. It could transport and land troops, fight in a line of battle, deploy countless starfighters, and chase down smaller enemy ships. In fact, it would have likely been a cheaper alternative for the Empire(which should have, IMO, focused more on smaller, more compact, ships to police its territories instead of focusing so many resources on the Imperator line.), at least in terms of its defense fleets.
Honestly, I just love the Venator-class, so I might be biased. It's still a damn good ship though.
Thank you. Thank you so much. God, please copy and paste this. You are perfect.
Rebels? Not so much... Need a massive crew to run a single Venator. New Republic? Perhaps.
The venator. She stood out. The Red Paint job. The slim waste. She was amazing
I just love the nebula's design!! I always drop some of them in Empire at War
This ships seems like Mary sue to me. Magically powerfull turbolasers and best shield...
Mary ship
I dont know man.
Desing seems cool and practical.
I love the Nebula Class SD. In fact I love all the designs of the New Class Modernization program.
Ever since the Resurgent class dropped outta of hyper space my eyes always glow at that beast of a dorito
The nebula looks awesome I wish they used it in canon now
Nice video!
I think the ultimate battleship would be a combo of the nebula und resurgent.
I hope we see these in episode 9. Nebula class star destroyers are my favorite.
Great video! Also in space fighting in general when is bigger just too big? : ) ( bigger or smaller works: examples 1k, 2k, 5k, 10k?)
And Cannon I think the resurgent class Star Destroyer is the best design
ethan hatcher only thing is I believe that the ship has only 20-30% the amount of turbolasers it’s stated to have. still a good ship but I doubt it has that many turbolasers
For a Battlecruiser yes
For a Star Destroyer (in Canon) is difficult to say.
Colin, yeah, its too much controversial to say that has 1500 guns but on taked some torpedos to take down Finn and Poe in FA
I love the Nebula Star Destroyer, I hope we'll see it in Episode 9. A fleet of that ship could help the Resistance against the First Order's Resurgent Star Destroyer
You juked me with that shadowed ship at the thumbnail I thought it was the corvus
My favorite is the Venator class, the heavy focus on fighters and heavy turbolasers makes this a very versatile ship, the exposed bridge is its main weakness, but it would have fared well in an Alliance fleet, basically as a ultra heavy quasar
Is it only me, are does it seem like the Nebula is what would happen if a Mon Calamari ship and an Imperial Star Destroyer had a baby? You know, in the same way a cheetah and a baboon would have a baby, which would result in a totally awesome creature.
Love this ship. Love this video.
Need to do one on the Legends post-Endor Republic-class star destroyer
How interesting. I didn't realize the Arc Hammer was that large! Crazy.
A lovely looking ship. Up there with the Harrower.
Hey Eck you should do some ground battle videos
Ah man its nice to see the nebula get some love
The Empire at War Thrawn's Revenge mod does a good job of demonstrating the NSD's superiority through mechanics - not only is it durable and hard-hitting, but its maneuverability leaves you less screwed over by terrible A.I. pathfinding, and it costs a low amount of build cap, so you can bring in more per battle. The only comparable ship is the Empire of the Hand's Ascendency Star Destroyer, which basically did the same thing the Nebula did.
I wish I had more time in my day to watch Eckhart's videos.
i like the Harrower-class dreadnought, his design is very cool
For it's time, the Sith Empire's Harrower-Class Dreadnaught which is about the same size as a Victory class star destroyer, but more than double the size of any standard republic cruisers at the time, it had lots of hangar bays where the entrances were protected by the hull of the ship so your fighters could come out protected from flanking enemy fire, get into formation and work out the best attack vector before leaving the safe harbour created by the position of the hangar bay
I've always liked the the super star destroyers, but since seeing the venerators those are my favorite
Palleon and the nebulon was surprised by what you would have won
and I still loved Hoover
The Venator class Star Destroyer my friend
has about 10 turbo lasers total on it. its crap in ship to ship
Having many smaller craft seems like a better idea than having 1 big ship
0:43 A massed Adama would be a formidable threat indeed.
Personally I think the Enforcer Class is the best design. It's an interdictor cruiser with the gravity well generators removed. It keeps the massive reactors though, allowing it to have faster engines, stronger shields, and heavier weapons than any other ship of its size due to all the excess power.
One of my personal favorites is the Acclamator 2 class. It was an excellent multipurpose ship that could trade fire with any ship of a similar class in its time. In addition it retained much of the modularity of the previous member of its line. As the requirements of the mission changed this could be switched from a transport to a carrier or armor, guns and extra shield generators could be added for an escort role. In addition it was one of the fastest ships of the republic period. 1200kph in atmosphere and a hyperdrive rating of .6 let it outrun anything it couldn't outgun.
Love this ship, wish we had seen more of it. A little disappointing we have not seen something like it in the sequals thus far.
I was a sleep and you uploaded
Thats why im late
3:29 WOAH
Can't wait to read the new Thrawn book.
Tittle : Best (insert basically anything) in Star Wars?
Content : Proceed to dump canon and grabs Legends.
I do love the Nebulas... but I can't help having a soft spot for the Turbulent class as well... I just love Bloodfin...
I still love the Harrower design the most since it seems the most well rounded and sleek
