- Would you believe that the Acclamator Class Star Destroyer was actually one of the better ships in the Star Wars universe? It was incredibly well designed and VERY effective, so much so that one has to wonder why it fell out of common use. We'll talk all that and more today!

The lack of a Lego Acclamator is a pain that never ends.
They made a advent calendar ship this year that’s how much they think of it but then again dude that might be the may 4th ucs ship !! And why not they always do a ship from the advent calendar don’t they and a few that’s retiring and one is always made the next year makes sense not that big maybe it’s the October ucs ship

It would be cool to see Captain Rex's Rebel cell of unchipped Clones get some Acclammators and use them as mobile bases of operations to travel around the galaxy and link up with other Rebel cells that have their own ships.
One acclamator was used by the New Republic in Alphabet Squadron. Was called the Lodestar.
They would work great for the rebellion.

In fact they would have been in high demand - if available, for so many different post War niches outside the core Worlds.
A Mercenary company's mobile base, a Freighter in the outer rim in dangerous territory doing fast runs. And if a bunch of Jedi survivors wanted a ship to use as a mobile base/colony while they tried to rebuild the Order, hiding off the beaten track, a Acclamator would be perfect (as long as you didn't have to explain to anyone you came across how you happened to have one).
But if the Rebels had managed to steal a bunch of Acclamators they would have been a massive boost to the Rebellion.

This quote sums up what was so great about the Acclamator class, massive mobile barracks that moved countless numbers of clones (and plenty of vehicles and other equipment as well) to worlds across the galaxy.

Well it's kind of crap aside from its cargo role.
It's just a mildly armored tanker. One gets atomized over ryloth and we've never seen them actually firing their gun, ever. I'd argue the only reason why it's "genius" is because cargo is a sensible combat role that no other star wars navy except the CIS figured out. TIL it's very fast so at least there's that.
Logistics wins war that's why it's good, the design itself is just meh. Its only true comparison is the lucrehulk, which is a monster and the cargo ships over umbara who are functionally similar to an acclamator. Tbf the acclamator is more flexible than a lucrehulk because there are more of them and can therefore cover more ground but the lucrehulk blows anything the republic had to offer out of the water. Plus most cis warship were mini acclamator themselves and they had proper cargo like the ones over umbara, what can i say i just find the cis to be the best designed fleet in star wars. They don't have holes in their roster, they have specialization whereas everyone else just spams star destroyers and calls it a day.

It'd a decent all around ship. Cargo, Carrier, small Assault ship, planetary landing ship of a larger size, etc

It's a landing craft that carries a small army plus all It's gear and it's only slightly slower than the Millennium Falcon. That is a feat that none of it's successors can even come close to matching.
The Acclamator is more comparable to what it's in universe classification is inspired by, which is an Amphibious Assault Ship, also called LHA or Landing Helicopter Assault, these are easy to mistake for carriers since they have flight decks and can even operate VTOL aircraft, but their primary role is that of launching amphibious operations. It's no coincidence that the Acclamator is called an Assault Ship, that likely has nothing to do with firepower and more with the idea of it being a launching point for planetary assaults.

Has heavy naval guns to blast anything on the ground as it lands on landing struts and deploys a legion clones, armor, air, and everything else they needed to take a planet. It honestly is the most useful ship in the Republic fleet.

As a supply/transport ship it's great with 1 key flaw, it really should have included the ability to project a shield around the LZ, no point landing a force if the blockading fleet you just ran past and left intact can now just point its guns down at you and rain fire on you from above.
It fills that role perfectly, unfortunately as with basically all ships in SW, it wasn't used properly with the right supporting assets. It was used as a landing assault ship but well, it was a poor asset for that (good assault ship, bad lander). You lose an assault ship in reality, your attack is probably a failure but you tend not to lose 1-2% of your entire military with no survivors instantly (the crew can evacuate, and there are supporting assets nearby, and likely you have air superiority already before the ship even gets close). Also a real world assault ship isn't actually involved directly in the fighting, it's a stepping off point for the actual assault force, not a forced landing craft. You have one of these lose control during a landing however and that's exactly what's happened, its crashed and everyone's dead. It should be launching assault forces and staying in the rear until an LZ is secured, not throwing itself into the fray unprotected and then trying to send out an assault force once on the ground. That's just asking to have artillery target your assault force while it's still deploying. Basically its misused, it's great for getting stuff to the ground, just don't do it were you can be shot at, especially not by orbiting warships.
Oh a random note, this thing nearly outguns a venator on its official data sheet. If it wasn't been used as a transport, it would have made for an effective front line battleship.
@@cgi2002 I agree with everything except the Acclamator's ability to serve as a frontline warship. Canonically the Acclamator had poor armor compared to similarly sized peer vessels. While it could engage in a firefight and probably come out on top, it suffered heavily in prolonged engagements. That problem could be rectified by up armoring the vessel after heavily reducing it's complement of troops and troop supporting systems, but without said overhaul it would struggle.
@@musicninja98 that was my thinking too. Take that impressive cargo capacity and fill it with power generation and shield systems. Maybe add some more guns but really as the MC80 proved, defense beats offense when you have superior fighters in SW as they somehow can do more dmg than capital ship grade weapons (I love it but that never made sense). An uparmoured group of Aclimators backed by a Venator carrier would make for a hell of a strike group, they hold the line while the fighters win the battle. If you want to play it really smart you have 2 seperate forces for space and planetary assault.
Uparmoured Aclimators and carrier Venators as your space based force, and then an assault/landing force equipped Venator filled with a strike force and drop ships to create a beach head, backed up by a support Aclimator with heavy assets, more troops and a big ass sheild generator, essentially creating a FoB were it lands.
You do essentially have 2 types of frontline ship both of which are in reality easily adaptable to roles which you need. A heavy and a carrier, you just need to adapt the heavy for were it will be fighting, and the carrier to support the heavy. There is no need for a Venator to be both a space based carrier and a planetary landing ship, doing both handicaps its ability to be excellent at one role, same with the Aclimator, specialise the fk out of them, your already in a war, you don't need multirole ships half as much as in peacetime, since they are going to be doing specific missions, not "whatever comes up".
The Acclamator with its 0.6 hyperdrive would be an extremely good Carrier/Frigate for the Alliance. Their raiding party efficiency would be hilarious holy shit
That's so fast, that's almost as fast as the Falcon's 0.5 hyperdrive. And we already understand that Han is able to traverse the Galaxy way faster than a lot of other spacefarers.
I would imagine mothballed Acclimators would have made temping targets for the rebellion.
but you easily shoot it down because it has not good enough selfdefence, it needed suport ships too survive, alone it is pretty useless and just an easy target for anyone, the same with in reality the aircraft carriers they are useless on there own, you absolutly need suport ships for it without it, it is just an big target that can be easily destroyed.
thats the reason the empire abandoned the acclamator because it can`t survive on there own.
@@Super-Godzilla99 first of all the Empire didn't abandon it, simply up gunned them, Acclimator IIs were still in service by Endor and secondly if you use it in the same role as the Quasar Fire carrier it would be fine.
@@Super-Godzilla99 there was an up-armoured and up-gunned variant as well as a carrier variant. You can buy two Acclimators and crew ten Acclimators for every Venator you have. And two carrier variants will hold more starfighters than one Venator.
If we are being stingy with money them the fleet composition goes from three Venators to SIX Acclimators with half being carriers and half being destroyers.
Since we know the greatest problem the republic faced was how many clones they had we could also argue for using 10 Acclimators instead of 3 Venators and absolutely stomp CIS fleets
A pragmatic _unnerfed_ GAR could have loaded up a Acclimator with proton bombs in the hold, and just strategic bombed the CIS position at the opening of Geonosis, winning the War in the opening engagement.

The Acclamator is really is the best assault ship in all of Star Wars. In EAW it always served in my Empire fleets as the mainline ship, before becoming a ship of the line alongside Victorys before being supplanted again by the Imperial Star Destroyers in the capital ship role. But I still used them in all my fleets both offense and defense. I love the Acclamator so much, and it's my favorite assault ship in all of Star Wars. The Victory, Acclamator, and Dreadnought are my top 3 favorite non-carrier warships in all of Star Wars.
The Acclamator becomes even more powerful if you play the EAW:FOC expansion, particularly if you play as the Zann Consortium. If you complete the piracy defiler mission over Corulag (and then ideally take full control of the planet afterwards with the piracy still in effect), you can build Acclamators for the Consortium from nearly any space station.
The Consortium Acclamators come with one very distinct difference: one of the TIE Fighter launches gets replaced with one of Star Vipers, essentially becoming a significant boost in firepower. Outside of large fleets or space stations, you could dominate just about any space battle using just Acclamators. Even against the large fleets and stations, if you do not mind sacrificing Acclamators, you could theoretically dominate just about any space battle (as long as you have enough of them waiting to be dropped in as reinforcements).
Throw in an accompanying unit with Sensor Jamming (so either Bossk or an upgraded Skipray) and keep it and the Acclamators bunched together, and you have one of the most powerful and well-protected fleets ever, especially if you manage to secure a pirated Corulag early enough.
Just bear in mind that in EAW:FOC, the Acclamator does have one major weakness that the Zann Consortium can exploit. If Acclamators show up on a world where the bribery defiler effect is in place, then they cannot launch their fighters - and this applies to both Imperial and Consortium ones (at least, that is if you are playing the disc version and not the downloaded one, which might have been patched out - I have the disc one, so I do not know about the other).
I'm a big fan of the Acclamator, as well as the Marauder-class corvette and Lancer-class frigate. I like smaller, more agile ships.

I fell in love with the design the first time I played Empire at War. A streamlined, mass produceable, multi purpose warship that fleshes out both the Republic and Empire fleets. In my opinion modern Star Wars writers really do a disservice to the scale and scope of the universe by saying "oh it was barely even made" like they do with a lot of ship design retcons(or even completely changing the purpose of the ship.)
The Acclamator II makes sense from a logistics standpoint. Using a good hull for different purposes helps ease the stress on the logistics chain as you are using the same parts but in a different package. This saves money but also time as they should be quick to make.
Not just quick to make but quick to convert back and forth with their ability to land it means they don't need a dedicated space dock to do work on.
I remember in Republic Commando reactivating the Prosecutors main batteries. The thundering of her guns gave me goosebumps as the droid command ship buckled under her and the Arrestors fire.

Nothing I love more then seeing mixed fleet battles with clone wars ships, The Venator, acclamator and Arquitens look so good beside each other and its a shame we only really see the Venator and Arquitens in the imperial era. The Acclamator was such a versatile ship that its insane it didnt hold out for much longer in imperial service.
Imagine if some acclamator variants were modified to be even more armored and protected designed for the roles of jabbing saw like blades into a ship to send hordes upon hordes of troops into an enemy ship to capture it. Man would that be some psychological distress.

It was more likely retired for the same reasons as the venator. Because it reminded people of the republic, the clones and the Jedi.
This was a good one, I didn't know that the fleet was made by Kuat Drive Yards in secret. I always thought it was weird that the Kaminoans had also been able to conveniently provide a fleet along with the army.
well it wasn't built at Kuat itself, everyone would have noticed it. They did it via their subsidiaries like Rothana Heavy Engineering
They didn't make it at all clear in the film, so you had to do outside reading for it to make sense. I don't much care for where films do that, but such is life.
Looking at the placement of that fin, I was honestly surprised that that is where the hyperdrive was located. Mentally, I'd like to think its placement also added additional maneuverability by altering the cone of thrust from the engines, acting as a sort of pseudo rudder. Probably didn't really work like that, but it's still fun to imagine some additional functions for it.
Honestly the fin is a part I’d love to see pop up on subsequent experimental ships. Give an ISD or a Victory the fin, or a modernized version of it, and see how it preforms

Imagine if the Republic just made a lot of these instead of almost only Venators.
They would have lost. It was a great ship for landing troops, logistics and light skirmish, but had a weakness to heavy capital ship fire and it didn't carry enough of an air wing to support a full invasion. I do wish we had seen more of the other ships though such as the victory class and the old pdf dreadnought class.
Well youd need both. I think if I was building a "general purpose" fleet of 10 ships, I'd want 3 victories, 4 venators, and 3 acclimators. But that could vary a lot depending on how much of the mission would be in space vs on the ground

In classic un-modded Empire at War, the Acclamator serves as the Empire's earliest capital ship. Mounting 2 Turbolaser batteries, 2 Laser Cannon Batteries, a Concussion Missile Launcher and Proton Torpedo launcher, as well as featuring a hanger bay carrying 2 Tie Fighter squads and 1 Tie Bomber squad. Another subsystem that can be damaged in game are its engines. It's main notable ability is that it can reroute power to its weapon systems, draining shields and dropping speed in the process, but can do heavy damage for a short time. However, it's shields and subsystems are easily buckled and broken under sustained bombardment, so keep it escorted with Tartan cruisers against large swarms of fighters, or have a flotilla of Acclamators working in tandem to counter enemy capital ships.
such a lovely little versatile ship. while keeping them in their respective niche is definitely the best choice, I can’t help but think that the later refits (no doubt aided by the large amount of space by nature of being a transport) made the Acclamator kinda like some interwar British cruisers, which were built to easily accommodate upgrades later on (WW2) as building them with upgrades in the first place would have made them break some treaty rules. perhaps this suspiciously fast, large, and full of empty space starship was meant for ship to ship combat and the transport thing, while useful, could have also been a good cover in the buildup to the Clone Wars.

One thing you missed that I always liked, that fin in the back meant that an opponent targeting the ships engines could only attack one section at any given time (generally).
Something to note is that with the Clone Wars show/new canon, AT-TE's and dropships got resized to better match their onscreen appearance, nearly doubling their original size so the actual carrying capacity of the acclamator was probably nowhere near as high as the legends one. The SPHA-T's have always had a weird size at 140m, even though onscreen they look closer to 40m, but even still there probably weren't 36 of them onboard.
The Clone Wars cross section book tried to fix this by resizing it to be about 900m compared to the 750m in canon, but that didn't stick. We also don't really see the acclamator's full compliment in the show, but when they are used they only deploy a couple dropships with walkers and gunships, from a small underside hangar which barely seems to fit them through.
Man, I always loved the Acclamator. It really didn't have enough showtime once the Venator was introduced.

Imagine if the empire made an acclamator three that combined the best qualities of the two previous models.
In my personal expanded Sequel Trilogy canon, the Acclamator makes a significant return in the post-Jakku era as a common planetary defense fleet ship. It's bigger than most pirate ships, but not so big as to be unwieldy to a small government. It's decent against capital ships and fighters, and has a lot of hanger and storage space for various practical uses. Most importantly, its ability to land on the ground gives it enormous flexibility and greatly reduces maintenance costs for planets that don't have orbital facilities. If your planetary government can only afford one major ship, the Acclamator-III or -IV were a very good investment.
Rothana Heavy Engineering (which was split off of Kuat Drive Yards when the New Republic carved KDY up) also made several specialized variants, including the Acclamator-III/c (a carrier version) and the -IV/co ("command", packed with advanced sensors and communications equipment to manage whole fleets).
I've been in love with the Acclamator since Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter. With the battle over Geonosis being able to fly around it and protect it. You get a very good view of it and see the scale. Love it! Some say it looks "simple" compared to other star destroyers but I think the Acclamator shows perfectly that less is more.

It was a big time fave on mine in the old Empire at War mod "Phoenix Rising." Used to use it as the flagship/leader of light long-range raiding parties consisting of it, a couple TIE Avenger Squadrons, a couple Skipray attack groups, and a couple Assault Gunboat squadrons.

one thing I might bring up is the acclamator matches the purpose of the AT-TE. the tactical enforces is just that. it's not artillery or a tank, it punches through defenses in order to support infantry. The acclamator is just the first step in an invasion, get the troops down there, get passed the fleet so the ground forces can advance. it's honestly an awesome strategy to have primary capitol ship engage an enemy fleet over a planet while the acclamators attempt to overrun the planetary defenses at the same time. makes for some swift take overs. stuff like this is why the clone wars is my favorite era. it was revolutionary in so many ways.
The Empire has used them.....In Empire at War. Same for the Zann Consortium

I don't know how this would work with power scaling, but it would be interesting to see a "venator in Halo" or "what would it take to blow up a Halo ring if star wars" or "how would the unsc defeat the death star?" I think that plus "how far could a squad of Spartans make it into the death star" would be fun!
1-Star wars ships Vs Covenant would be a fair match as both uses shields and energy weaponry (I think Star Wars wins over the guns, they seem to have a higher firerate, and you have from light double turbo laser to heavy octo-barreled turbolasers)
2- In Star wars (inside the Legends) appart from the death star there were huge ships with the same laser as the DS, for example the Eclipse class... I think any ship/station with the same weapon as the Death star could take down a ring
3-the spartans would end against Vader and the Emperor, the DS crew and stormtroopers would be usseles against Spartans... But Vader and Palpatine, both being extremely powerful with the force, would crush any spartan that comes closer... You can argue "but spartans are extremely fast" etc etc.. But to use the force you just need to think, just that, no need to gestures (for extremely powerful beings as Vader, Palpatine, etc) so the spartans would die against trained force users, and against sith Lords I think some spartand would end as brainwashed guards
Q&A: Episode 3. Why were the large capital ships firing at one another at point blank range? It reminded me of watching an old pirate movie with galleons firing canons at one another at point blank range.
My head canon explanation for this has been the shields. The ships were so close that they were inside the opposing ship’s shields.
Particle shields should be able to block mass, but not energy. Energy shields should be able to block energy weapons like turbo lasers. Which type of shield extended further from its host?
I think it's due to bad targeting and the fact that turbo lasers decrease in power gradually when traveling, so they would want to keep as much of the power as possible by closing in to point-blank range
Shields in Star Wars are usually form-fitting to the hull of the ship projecting them; pay close attention to those scenes and you can see blue 'ripples' where the shields are blocking shots.
As for the Battle of Coruscant, by the time we see it in the movie, the CIS fleet has captured Palpatine and was relatively close to the planet. However Coruscant has a full planetary shield to prevents ships from passing through it; and the CIS was trapped Under the shield. It had fully deployed before the CIS could withdraw (So you're right on that point, just a bit larger scale lol). By that time too, the Republic Navy had around/over a thousand ships in the fray, let alone the hundreds of the CIS, and the battle as a whole just mostly devolved into a whirling melee. The republic also had an objective: Prevent the CIS' escape so the Jedi could rescue Palpatine, and it's hard to run away when you're locked in a knife fight with your enemy.
That beauty carried me through RaW and I still use it alongside venators, imps, victories and the mandator

The Acclamator is like an in universe LHD for Star Wars, primary mission is forced entry/planetary assault but capable of other mission as well. Acting as an ad hoc carrier or providing unparalleled supplies for HADR purposes.
In vanilla EAW I always kept a small fleet of acclimators as a light carrier strike force. I could hit a system just using the ties and dominate soft targets, soften hard targets, and retreat using the fighters as a screen without taking casualties if faced with an overwhelming force usually taking out at least one strategic target first. Then I could pull in a a heavy assult fleet and knock it out with minimal casualties. Lighter carriers in space are awesome for hit and runs.
Yep, it's on the list of 'Choices the Imperial Navy brass made that make absolutely no sense'. A bit further down than a lot of other points, but still on there. Sure, the Empire transitioned to basically a galactic policing action, but there's always the eternal concern of rainy days, or... the potential for extra-galactic threats (Ahem) that would warrant keeping at least SOME of these in active reserve for this specific role, permanently attached to major ground military command structures.
I don't like people comparing the Acclimator to like the proper Star Destroyers, because beyond some general form factor, it's an entirely different ship with entirely different purpose.
I think it's feasible that Venators and ISDs might not even be able to deal well with atmosphere and landing directly on planets, but the new canon has no self control and keeps wheeling around ISDs basically on the ground.
The base game of EAW gets it, acclamators should've been part of ISD fleets, helping the big boys as an escort carrier.
Maybe sometime you could cover its descendant: the Ardent-class fast frigate.

In Alphabet squadron novels, The Lodestar is a retrofitted rebel Acclimator with a bit more firepower and I believe 3 hangars. It serves as their fleet command ship and this is a couple years after Endor. I think, then, that you'd have to say Acclimators are also excellent in design for refitting. It seems to me that they're at least close to the CR 90 in modular design.
One thing thats very interesting about the acclimator is its ability to land like a normal ship and the fact that it has landing gear

I so want to Retcon the Empire not using them. One way to do it is say the Imperial Navy stopped using them, but the Imperial Army kept several for massive troop transport. As the Army wasn't seen much in Star Wars, we didn't see their ship either.

The Acclimator is a great design, but there are some changes I would make to it so it could fill more roles. First off, I'd make the bridge of the ship sit lower so it's not jutting out like a tall target practice beacon. Second, I'd add a handful of ion cannons, allowing it to take on capital ships. Finally, I'd make the troop barracks and the hanger bay have modular components. The barracks would be able to serve as either barracks, medical rooms, or prisoner cells, allowing the ship to serve as a mobile hospital or prison barge if needed. And the hangar area could hold either its ground invasion craft, several racks for various starfighters, large amounts of cargo, or any combination of the 3. Large amounts of relief supplies and a hospital ship would do wonders for it. And a mini Venator with capital ship grade ion cannons could easily surprise an enemy that may have been used to the normal Acclimator
I am fairly certain that when they mentioned improved speed in its successors, they meant at sublight.

As I understood it, the original Acclamator II's came about before the first shots of the clone wars even were fired. With KDY unable to fully utilize its production facilities due to the secrecy, the Venator wasn't ready for use for Geonosis, and Rothana knew it. So they took some of the Acclamators that were already partially completed and retooled them into having considerably higher amounts of firepower and extra shield generator systems at the cost of their cargo and troop transport capabilities. These were used on the front line of Geonosis to take the brunt of CIS defenses and would later go on to inspire the actual A2 line later down the road. One example is actually the Prosecutor from Republic Commando, which lost some of its hangar bays to make room for large torpedo systems not seen on other vessels of its class, and was able to not only survive but win against a Lucrehulk type vessel with the aid of another Acclamator. Though I would still presume this was not one of the pre-battleship models, as a refit Lucrehulk would have flattened A2's with ease.
Legends and speculation aside, the Acclamator was a damn good ship for what it was intended to do. The water landing scenes in particular make me just love this scrappy thing. I'd love to see them re-appear as mass cargo haulers or something, since unlike the Venator we don't see signs of them being scrapped en masse.
I never thought that it was a Star Destroyer; I always thought it was classified as a star cruiser or an assault cruiser. Great ship though!
My friend group and I are playing SW5e (DND 5e but with a Star Wars skin including new classes) and we got to choose a ship for free and my GM offered an Acclamator under the condition that we would have to find a crew. So with a lucky roll from our 2 pilots we got it moving towards the alleged rebel base. Got a free crew. And proceeded on an adventure. At one point we glasses a city because it was infected by the zombie virus. So the Acclamator came in handy. We also had it done up to resemble an imperial Acclamator and our hacker constantly got us codes to sneak around. Most fun I've ever had in a game. I'm one of the 2 Jedi. I'm a Padawan, with 4 levels in a Jedi class and then 5 levels in Scoundrel. It's been very interesting.
Once learning about other Dorito class lookin ships of the republic. I started loving the Acclamator, and the victory class. Mainly thanks to fall of the republic mod for EAW.
The remake mod will make you love the victory even more

The empire never have head on battles, they are fighting rebel cells that can be dealt with by a couple walkers

in the video game clips you have (I forget which game it is) it appears like there are two different variants of the Acclamator. 0:54 One has stripes on the sides of the fuselage, and one doesn't. Another difference is that the striped version has an angled portion of the hull in front of the superstructure and bridge, and the angle appears to line up almost directly at the bridge. Whereas, the non-striped version does not have this angled portion of the hull, electing for a flatter section. What's the difference between the two? Is it Acclamator-I and Acclamator-II versions?
It's kinda ironic. The empire abandoned the vessels that they really needed(accs , venators ; small, fast, carrier focused) and instead went for choice that was too late for them(Isd families, actual ship to ship combat). Seems to me their actually going backwards in terms of purpose of ships.

Soo I absolutely love the Acclamator. It’s my personal favorite starship in Star Wars. My personal character I’ve made for myself is a Clone Engineer (from the 2005 version of Battlefront 2) who is the last surviving member of his legion at the end of the Clone Wars and uses their Acclamator to travel the galaxy. As he’s an engineer he re-crewed his ship with a whole slew of droids he rebuilt, and was actually so friendly with droids on the ship that his brothers gave him the name “Clanker”
In fanfiction, I always have the Empire hold onto a couple of these, specifically for situations where they need to quickly move lots of troops without tying up a lot of ships (either for planetary assault or relocating a base). They have a passenger capacity of 15,000-16,000 (depending on the source), which would be enough for several regiments, plus crews for the tanks and artillery and any necessary support personnel.
I love the acclimator it's such a great design. I could see it being modernized with enhanced weapons and shields making it a great command ship and force to be reckoned with.

I noticed, while you were commenting on the vertical fin at the stern of the ship and the ship’s 0.6 class hyperdrive, in the diagram there is a system labeled “power system cooling neutrino radiator grill”. I’ve never heard anyone comment on the hidden genius that is this system. A warship of the proportions of the Acclimator is going to have to constantly & consistently dissipate a tremendous amount of heat in order to avoid having something akin to a Chesapeake Bay Clone Bake within its interior.
Using the over abundance of thermal energy to create & radiate neutrinos is one of the best in-universe explanations in (implied in the name of this system) the entire SW mythos I’ve encountered.
Neutrinos have no rest mass, but as their native state has them moving near c, the speed of light, they do have some mass and subsequently they do possess some kinetic energy & some momentum.
Through some technology that we currently lack the engineering to create in our world, the SW engineers created a conversion system that takes all that potentially lethal excess of thermal energy and converts that energy into the creation & dispersion of neutrinos. Neutrinos, lacking a charge and any significant mass, don’t interact with other matter very often. As I’m typing this, billions of solar neutrinos are passing through the Earth (it’s nighttime for me at present) and then through me with no ill effects.
An Acclimator’s “power system cooling neutrino radiator grill” is spewing gobs of neutrinos in all directions and dissipating excess heat as part of the process. It’s as nifty a technology as anything else I’ve heard of to date. Now I don’t know just how small a SW ship can be and still utilize this system, but it would seem that someone would eventually miniaturize this system for smaller ships as effective & efficient waste heat dissipation is the bane of all spacecraft. Even a relatively puny T.I.E. Ln has to dissipate waste heat created by its drive and weapons.

Agreed. The acclamator is a phenomenal ship. Similar to the venator, it is a battleship/carrier hybrid, but whereas the venator excels at starfighter deployment, the acclamator excels at ground troop deployment. It has enormous carrying capacity, top notch hyperspace speed, decently well-armored, and a fair amount of traditional capital ship weaponry. It's not a focused battleship like the ISD, but it can still hold its own, provide heavy support fire, and get to where it needs to go quickly. The acclamator & venator go hand-in-hand.
The Acclamator was interesting, and had a specialisation that I found quite cool.
It would also be nice if we saw those ships from at the start of the phantom menace and sometimes saw in the cw show again,

#askeck What is your opinion on the Droch Boarding ship? It looks like a flying bullseye, but it has a decent weapons, large amount of cargo space for a starfighter, and the spike allows it to fill many utility roles.
Modernized Acclimator concept:
Adjust the spaceframe to support six heavy turrets.
Two on the nose, too and bottom, and two more dorsal/ventral pairs on the sides at the widest section.
Put heavy ion cannon up front, turbolasers on the sides, and upgrade the point defence system further, and it would have been the perfect ship to fight the rebellion in, especially if you had a squadron of fighters in waiting.
If the empire had done that and used them as patrol ships, their point defence system

Already and always loved the Acclamator and Venator
If the Republic had won the Galactic Civil War [Palpatine got discovered and killed before Order 66], the Acclimator could have made the core of a *fast reaction force* that would get to any problem areas _quickly_ and deal with the problem.
To deal with any sudden emergencies just use a pair of Acclimators, one the standard model that drops in the ground force, along with a Starfighter carrier variant that stays on station as overwatch while it's fighters provide cover and deal with any enemy ships.
It would be a effective and pragmatic way to police the Galaxy, as two ships could deal with anything short of a major uprising - which is when you call in the Venators and/or Victory Star Destroyers.
And just a Starfighter carrier would be able to deal with most Pirates, getting on station fast and deploying ARC-170's to search the region, then using pure dogfighters to take on the Pirates.
It could be a cross between a Coast Guard and what the Judicial Forces would've been if Ranulph Tarkin had succeeded in his reforms.
This sort of *pragmatic* usage could stop major problems early on, and help maintain order and peace in a otherwise tumultuous Galaxy.
My guess why there was not much of a fleet around Geonosis was CIS was still keeping a low profile and keeping Droid factories ect on Geonosis secret. Massive starfleet would draw Republic attention.
Great video, always liked the Acclamator. It shows what a truly specialist warship design is capable of.
However, there is one small pet peeve of mine: The term for a period of a thousand years is "millennium." The word "millennia" is plural, meaning a period of 2,000 years or more. Using "millennia" to refer to a single period of 1,000 years is an increasingly common mistake that kind of drives me up a wall more and more every time I hear it.
If I recall correctly from another star wars guy, the acclamator was also capable of specialization into specific roles (could be a carrier, bomber, anti capital ship, etc.) As well as incredibly cheap compared to the venator. I think it was a third of the price but I forgot.
There is ONE instance of it being a carrier, and each acclamator is technically capable of filling an 'anti-capital' role with their proton torpedoes (and the lore increase of weapons on the acc 2). Still squishy though.
I have a fanfiction of sorts in my head that i can't put to paper about a group of smugglers finding, and using an Acclamator, as their HQ.
They're definitely one of the best ships in EAW too. I've been able to use the bomber complement to win against otherwise insurmountable odds

On the contrary, the Empire continued the use of Acclaimators. So much so that they commissioned a MkII Imperial Acclaimator. That's how successful these ships were.
In the post-Imperial era after the Battle of Endor, Hera Sindula made use of an Acclaimator as her own flagship called the Lodestar.
