The Starhawk Battleship Program was one of the most important initiatives for the New Republic Navy in the last year of the war. It also happened to be one of the main targets for the Imperial Navy to take out. In Star Wars Squadrons both Titan Squadron and Vanguard Squadron will be fighting over the survival of this program.

I love you Allen ❤️🤩💗💞💕
Love how the footage of choice for the GR-75 is it getting obliterated as it is absolutely creamed by the Devastator
One of my favorite scenes in Star wars
RIP rebels
Best lightspeed entrance ever
@@GenerationTech It's the Star Wars equivalent of the Oberth-Class from Star Trek.
Both are constructed from the highest grade of Explodium.

I was never really too wild about the Disney Canon and how they handled the Rebels post Battle of Endor and the New Republic, but I had to admit seeing the star hawk design all those years ago I thought it was awesome, finally felt fresh to see a more original design. And now it's nice to finally see the thing in action.
Remember in Rogue One, during the Battle of Scarif when those star destroyers came in from Hyperspace while the Rebels were retreating, how it felt like the star destroyers were PUNCHING in from hyperspace, you could feel it's sheer size. I can only imagine how that would feel with a Starhawk.
The Starhawk (and the Raider class corvette before it) were designed by Fantasy Flight Games, based off text from a book, so the fact that they are made canon is a testament to the FFG design teams. The Starhawk is, from what I had heard before this video, also about the same length as a Venator class RSD, so it may have punch, just not as much as the ISD.
@@alexpembury4307 What? Venator has only 1.1+ km. Starhawk is more then twice then that. Plus it was dedicated SSD killer.
@@TheRezro
Not from the old information. Before it was added to Squadrons, the Starhawk was the size of a Venator and made to match the ISDs, not the SSD. This size was most likely based off the FFG model for their Star Wars Armada game and the only counter to a SSD is another, too big for the New Republic to crew.
I personally prefer this smaller size, as the New Republic would still have been small compared the the Imperial Remenant as a whole. So they would have needed a slugger that could fight on equal grounds and require less than the ISDs to crew.
In the story, only three were built by the battle of Jakku: the Concord, the Amity and the Unity. While they were able to punch through the ISDs, the SSD Ravager destroyed the Amity outright and damaged the Concord so badly, it started to fall planetside. So the captain used its tractor beam on the Ravager in an 'I'll take you with me' gesture, which only worked due to the Ravager having its engines damaged during the act.
@Joseph Douek Both has own advantages depending on circumstances.
I don’t think the Starhawk will have the same impact if they appear in a battle. Like Allen said, this ship is slimmer than a Star Destroyer, so it won’t appear with its typical... *BAM* like SDs.
Until your ship is caught by a tractor beam, heading straight for Starhawk and cuts through your ship like a mothafucka
Tractor beams as a weapon is a very interesting and brilliant concept. Have multiple beams pull something in two different directions and gg no re
@brandovlogs Unfortunately a ship the size of a super star destroyer doesn't have a lot of pods spread out across the entire ship, the crew and troops wouldn't be able to evacuate that ship within a day due to the size of it even if it wasn't about to get utterly obliterated by the force of nature called gravity
My simple answer to the question: “They tore Star Destroyers apart to make this bad boy, then this bad boy tore Star Destroyers apart.”
Rip and Tear!
"...to make more of these bad boys"
it must reproduce
Circle of life.
By the end of this we will have 100 starhawks!
It's a bummer the New Republic didn't make many of these ships, the Starhawk is really growing on me in terms of design and aesthetic
Same
They look ugly. Star Destroyers for life.
@@machirim2805 it's not a political statement lol. "Star destroyers for life" dudes over here about to protest rebel art designs lol.
@@machirim2805 who tf thinks space doritos are cool?
I teally feel this ship was a lost opportunity. It really should have been in the last Star Wars movie instead of being sidelined for existing models used in previous movies.
"Why the Empire was AFRAID of the Starhawk Battleship"
I'm gonna go with it being bigger than a Star Destroyer and The New Republic didn't under arm it.
That and it Has a Massive weaponized tractor beam.
The wookiepedia states its length being “2400m”
I really like the Starhawk Project, it felt like it opened more possibilities to Develop the Republic Story post-Endor.
Since they can yeet executors they should have had a scene in ROS where a couple Starhawks just smash a boat load of star destroyers together like rogue one but way bigger.
From what I recall, the Starhawk that pulled the Executor ship down, was already super damaged and going down to the planet. It took the Executor with it as a last ditch effort.
@@MrAnthonyDraft correct
I did not know the Star Hawk was that big
The starhawk looks awesome
If you think the Empire feared the StarHawk… you haven't seen the look of terror on the faces of the animators at *ILM* told to do _the battle of Exagol._
They simply refused to have anything to do with the most powerful New Republic ship, and would prefer to send seven copies of Hans post Falcon cargo ship - the Baleen class instead.
Along with every other non imperial ship they already had models for.
I think the reason they copy and pasted so many ships was because they were on a time crunch and didn't have time to make the new ship models.
@@combustedfungus2263 Not only did the starhawk not have a digital model yet, it literally did not even have a canon appearance yet. So yeah, way too much effort.
@@MWBalls Too much effort for the last movie in the series? SMH
Dude, you completely ROCK at ALL of this Star Wars commentary!!! Thank you!!!
I thought the star hawk was like the same size as a standard corvette
Harry King me too. I thought it was an updated version of the old republic hammer head ships and the empire feared them because well, those where the most effective ships for hundreds of years. Then i realized how overkill the star hawk is lol! If these where about a message, they didn’t just send it, they screamed it from the roof tops.
Kind of looks like the gravestone ship from the Star Wars the old republic MMO
I think that might've been the source of inspiration. Honestly, it does make sense; it scared the Eternal Empire.
Most people- Allan is a 9er's fan, that explains why I like these videos!
Me - Humanity first!
*New Republic:* We need a new Star Destroyer ASAP, let's design a whole new ship from scratch, go through testing and refining the prototypes and then use a whole bunch of working and damaged Imperial ships for components.
*Rebel engineer:* Or we could just retrofit all those Imperial Star Destroyers we have, getting rid of all the flaws we used to exploit, repairing the broken ones and get a new force up with hardly any downtime.
*New Republic:* But designing a brand new capital ship should be quick and easy.
*Rebel engineer:* What's quick and easy is taking a ISD and fitting a internal bridge with holographic displays, removing all the base building and planetary invasion supplies, fitting point defence quad lasercannons everywhere, and letting the Mon Cala go wild with the shields.
Could get one working in a few weeks, tops.
Remove the bridge superstructure and _it would look cool,_ just a flying wedge in space. And without the AT-ATs and mobile base inside, we could fit a lot of extra goodies, more big guns… lots of extra X-Wings! [raises eyebrows hopefully].
*New Republic:* Nah, [starts chanting]…
brand new ship type,
brand new ship type.
Maybe it was to distance themselves from the empire and that they woukd give more freedom and yeah they probably did use a few and give them upgrade and a rebel symbol
@@user-Jay178 Yeah I didn't really like the New Republic using Star Destroyers in Legends
Retrofitting on this scale can actually take longer then building new. So unless you capture a bunch of hulls that are partially built. It makes little sense to carry out such extensive retrofitting. Eventually you reach a pint we’re it makes sense to just finish building the SD. Also if you just capture a bunch of spare parts or you not salvage worthy SDs and no new hulls you have to build ships out of the parts you have. Hence the star hawk
DO YOU WANT NEW AND CREATIVE SHIPS OR NOT?
To be fair. The Imperial Star Destroyer does not have a good track record in Canon. Maybe they knew the things sucked or were complete shite and didn't want to go through the hassle of trying to make one work. Plus according to Twilight Company an ISD is so resource-intensive that if you destroy Kuat, there are no other ship yards that can handle more than a handful of the things.
Plus lets face it, the Empire was so bad off by the time they reached Jakku that the New Republic could have sat around playing charades and the war would still have been won. You have all the time in the world to build a new starship or weapon when your opposition has the combined tactical brilliance that is possibly beneath that of a B1 droid.
BOW IN AWE AT THE AWESOME POWER OF THE ALMIGHTY GR-75
Devastator joined the game.
@Jax Taylor what are you on about besides being a salty star wars fan for no reason.
@Jax Taylor again. what. are. you. on. about.
Looks cool really glad we can finally see it in action and maybe in future content we can see stories about the surviving new republic fleet fight the first order. Great video
Allen never seen a channel give such detail about starwars
Star Wars is like a crazy ex gf. Most of the time it lets you down and hurts you but every so often does something good that gives you hope.
So cannot wait to see the Starhawk in action. Especially after watching several breakdowns of that ship
1:44 newsflash! Polish military adopted ford raptor as light troop/equipment carrier XD
I'm pretty sure vanguard squadron are stationed on an mc75 called the temperance, not the lodestar
Why was the Star hawk so feared by the Empire? Because it was encased in tons and tons or super tough Plot Armour
as well as tons and tons of heavy armor from isds
Great video Allan! I loved it! Keep up the great work!

The Starhawk kinda looks like a hammerhead cruiser...I think that its meant to represent a shield like the hammerhead does
good guy acclimators! as a clone wars fan and empire at war veteran acclators are one of my favorite cruisers and damn do they serve well not just as a troop carrier but also as an aggressive cruiser
Like realistically the Star hawk is insane because it has imperial star destroyer and better tech, ingenuity an design concepts from mon Cala engineers, and is built for combat thats a recipe for a terrifying ship in the galactic civil war era
Starhawks have been a physical thing for years (in the tabletop game Star Wars armada)
I finally learned what the holed part of the front section is for
It's a shame we didn't get to see one or more Starhawks in the big fleet at the end of Episode 9 taking on some Stardestroyers.
Nice vid! I really like the Starhawk as the design reminds me of SWTOR's Gravestone.
good series bro.. no doubt..
The tractor beam is actually a really cool feature. Since it’s in the front it can keep a star destroyer pinned down right in it’s kill zone without taking two much damage since all the armor in the front would protect it
Super exited pre ordered the game last night
My mum is gonna pre-order star wars squadrons! I'm so excited to get it 🤩🤩🤩
starhawk - a one for one copy of gravestone from The Old Republic 😂😂😂
I was thinking that too
So is the hammerhead, even the venator is based on mandalorian original capital ship design
@@galadato7425 inspired and copy is not the same

@Rising Horizon Gaming yeah , the mega cannon is swaped for kid friendly tractor beam and that is it.

What if Anakin’s mother survived slavery on Tatooine?
OR
Why couldn’t General Grievous use the force?
I believe that flesh is required inorder to house the midichlorians, you can see this when Anakin Skywalker loses his legs and arms, he is no longer as powerful.
Love your channel
You should make a snowboarding vlog this winter!!!
Imagine how cooler it'd be to see the Resistance have one of those instead of the Raddus
Yha but the starhawks armor is mostly in front. So running away seems really dumb.
That won’t do it, Mon calamari cruiser always known to have powerful shield. Raddus literally ran away from first order fleet while tanking countless powerful turbolaser shot. The starhawk would easily destroyed and the last Jedi would end sooner.
Sorry for your loss Allen I know what it’s like to lose four starters in one game to a team you should be shambling
In my personal canon, the StarHawks will have a bigger and (more logical) role. Giving the number of battlecruisers that the Imperial Remnants all across the galaxy will have after the disruption of the Empire and the death of Palpatine, the New Republic will desing and build the StarHawk battlecruiser in order to counter it´s imperial counterparts (most notably the Preator MK2)
For this role the StarHawk will be bigger (4,660 m long) more heavily armed, but will mantain the rest of its characteristics, and will require 4 to 5 ISDs to be build. This canon is based around Legends canon with the inclusion of some ships and other few cool stuff of Disney´s canon
I love the rebel motor bike helmet alan
been playing this its great
liked being on the empires side post endor
i find the ending hilarious though
At least we now know the starhawks weapons compliment.
Awesome 👏
I was do surprised at 9:20 because I am reading a book about a star wars squadron and it takes place at troithe and the lodestar was there etc
I hope that the engineer who came up with this design was promoted, for saving the New Republic years of work.
Yeah true
Hey! I'm an east coast 49ers fan! Although, when you recorded this I was still living in California.
Hummers are the civy model of the mil grade Humvee
How did they change the ISD to the Starhawk? How long did it take to complete the reconfigurations? I barely see the ISD in it.
I think it's just some parts rearranged
Maybe all the recycled ISD parts are the internal bits? Reactors, targeting system, turbolaser internals etc.
The Rebelion needed blockade runners. Small, fast ships were favoured. Smugglers were sometimes hired for sesitive runs.
An acclamator for campaign would have been very cool.
Actually the Vanguard Squadron flagship is the "temperance" an MC-75
From 2:51, skip to 4:34... Your welcome!
I express my thanks towards you
look up ec henry's forgotten star wars ships, gives an extra perspective
Please review the clone wars medstar books they're like MASH in space
Here's how much of a geek I am. The starhawk reminds of the Kuun Lan, the hero ship in Homeworld Cataclysm. Specifically when it jettisoned it's ore pod. I need to get out more.
I believe this ship is why the empire switched to brown pants
Well that explains some reason.
Would have been nice to see these beasts battle the first orders resurgent class ships
I really wanna see the Onager class
When I first saw the Starhawk I almost thought it was a Omnicannon combat Frigate. like the Gravestone in The Old Republic.
Reminds me of a larger Gravestone.
The video: talking about ship from after rotj
Generation tech: still somehow put clone wars era at 1:28
This is the first time I’ve seen someone diss a football team in a Star Wars video
Umm the Hammerhead corvette was originally a capital ship during the old republic era(canon) during the mandolorian wars and the jedi/sith wars. It was later used as a diplomatic ship when it's size rendered it obsolete compared to the bigger capital ships.
The yeet beam
Of course the empire should be scared. If a farmboy piloting a snubfighter has enough plot armor to not only survive a starfighter battle with a sith lord and still blow up a battle station that has the power to blow Alderaan to smithereens, imagine what kind of havoc a 2.4km battleship will cause. Surrendering the moment one of these ships show up is the only viable strategy as the empire can at least delay the inevitable by forcing the rebels to process the surrendering crews and impounding the captured star destroyers.
I've always thought the Starhawk looked like the Gravestone ship from the Star Wars: The Old Republic game.
In the early books the moncal star cruisers were originally designed as luxury passenger liners although later they would be purpose designed as war ships
the Starhawk Looks like the Gravestone from Star Wars The Old Republic
Starhawks loaded and sent! For the Emperor!!!.......wait a minute
omg i didnt know star wars squadrons is launching in 2 days
The lodestar was destroyed in the 2nd alphabet squadron book so will this take place before that bookseries??
The starhawk already exists as a model in Star Wars Armada since 2019 ;)
that looks alot like my gravestone flagship from star wars the old republic eternal alliance and if they somehow got the blueprints for it i understand the empires fear
Question about dem Mon Cala ships, weren't they underwater buildings that were inhabited by water-breathing creatures, therefore, water would also be present inside said buildings right? So they wouldn't have needed to be constructed to withstand high underwater pressures since the pressure inside and outside the building would have been the same.
Aka the gravestone remodel
The Early Rebellion incapsulated Captain Jack Sparrow’s idea of Pirate Nobility… “Fight, to run away”. 😉😉🥴. They led the Empire of a Universal Wild Goose Chase. “Nuhhuh can’t catch me, almost got me, nope too slow, bye 👋, see you next week for our cat and mouse game chapter 479.”
The real reason the empire was afraid of the starhawk is that they thought the rebels had rediscovered the starforge, as thats the only logical explanation to how the rebels pulled 3 brand new, state of the art, battle cruisers out of their ass less then a year after they stopped being a purely mobile gorilla fighting force.
It doesn’t take long to fashion a ship together in Star Wars. How do you think the Republic navy grew so large as to fight and win on multiple fronts within the span of three years during the Clone Wars? Or better yet, how did the Empire grow a navy containing over ten thousand ISDs, a dozen SSDs, and many thousands more of other Imperial shop designs as well as still having the materials and money to maintain aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaall of those ships that they inherited from the Republic Navy (excluding Venators)? When you have a multitude of planets that have basically been turned into giant shipyards, it really isn’t all that inconceivable to pump out three newly designed ships.
Shit, if you wanna question stuff like that, question how the US Navy took only a couple years to recover from a near-crippling attack on Pearl Harbor to having an armada that completely eclipsed the Royal Navy in the span of three years?
Nobody expects the Inquisition! That's not the issue, the issue is that one year to build battlecruiser grade warships by a force that did not have any shipyards until a two or so months in the final year of the war, the mon Cal Cruisers as is said in the video were buildings originally and served as evacuation ships during the imperial assault on mon Cala, also as for the republic fleet growth in the clone wars, the fleet was more than likely already being built in response to the separatist war preparations on order of palpatine, the puppet master of the war.
@@theinquisitor8112 With World War 2 a good amount of the US early recovery was because about 300 ships were already under construction, including all of the battleships completed in World War 2 (with the last being laid down in 1940).
Comparatively the New Republic designing and building multiple new Star Destroyers in a single year is a monumental achievement merely because of how much the design phase for an entirely different keel would finish in a couple of months at most. The Iowa class meanwhile took most of 1938 to finalize.
I'm kinda new to the channel, have you or will you explain why in both Star Wars and also Star Trek they hide their ships underwater? I understand that in Empire that Luke crashes and his X-wing sinks. Why did why did the emperor hide the final order underwater? And wouldn't there be a ton of maintenance problems to go with that?
Wasn't that fleet hidden underground, not underwater? Scene was so dang dark it was hard to tell.
If they made this from old isd's how would one look if it was made from venators?
Fantastic video pity the rebellion hasn't had a plan to use the ship to invade the empire dry dock and destroy their battle cruisers.
Small question... why is Star Hawk looking kindof like ToR's Gravestone? 🤔
What happens if you just flank it or bomb the sides
Best part of canon is the starhawk
Hi Allen
The starhawks had a couple different designs right?
There was a mk1 and mk2 initially when the aftermath novels came out I believe but that’s been changed now I
Wait Allen is a 49ers fan? Well damn I'm an east coast Seahawks fan. Who will win this year?
Just making sure: in old canon, Mon Calamari cruisers were repurposed civilian transport ships, not frickin buildings, right? That's what I remember from the Thrawn Trilogy.
1) its an awesome NR ship and 2) it's how the Empire should have invested it's resources instead of a Second Death Star after the failure of the first one oh, they could also have invested in anti Starfighter corvettes.
Do you think Thrawn will be in squadrons
I'm surprise no one brought up the Starhawk Hammerhead look like a Capital Hammerhead of the pre Clone Wars Republic as a symbol thus Starhawk or Phoenix of better times
