- In "POND SCUM", Taryl takes on this 1959 Clinton chainsaw that some fans from Michigan left outside his door awhile back. Will this thing run?? It's pretty old and pretty beat up. Some components you can't get anymore so he'll definitely need to get creative if he plans on getting this thing running again.
Back to POND SCUM... he lives in the waters of Podunk Lake and is an old legend around town. Taryl and Junior don't believe he's real until they come face to face with the creature in the flesh-or should we say, scum. See how it all plays out here in another scary, yet informative how-to video from your pals at Grass Rats Garage. And as always... There's Your Dinner!!

Taryl impersonating the know-it-all viewers are always hilarious. 😆
@Eric Erickson "Oh my god, he's at it again, knocking loose the flywheel with a hammer and a crowbar like a savage. I'm gonna file a report."😂
Professor good evening that old Clinton's giving you a good workout great video say hello to your son and slipp Dog and There's your Dang Dinner
IDK what's creepier: that old saw or those two characters holding the floor down by the garage door. Especially the guy in the hoodie!😳💀🤣
I know, right !!?
😂m🎉 😢😅
Hoodie guy just stood in the corner like the blair witch was after him 😱
Neither of them moved the hole video
Taryl, that rendition of "Jeremy Fountain" brought tears to my eyes... Tears of joy... Whenever you get tired of polishing old turds, you have a bright future as a singer.... Now, I'm cryin' again...
The lil spark plug cover hit me in the heart...don't make ANYTHING like they used to....what a cool tool
the guy in the background getting all sauced up watching the dactal fix shit! haha
Tayrl, I have some Clinton parts in the original packaging from when I had my mower shop a long time ago. I have points, condenser, carb kits, etc. If you are interested I can dig thru my supply and work out how to send them to you. Love your channel. Brings back memories from when I made repairs almost 50 years ago. Let me know
Taryl! Glad the condenser tester worked out! Ive attended church with Pearl Jam’s drummer1991-1994 Dave abruzeeze and his brother frank abruzeeze 😊he Actually lives one town over from me! Small world !!
That's hilarious, and thanks for the tester will be using it whenever we can in future videos. Now there's my Dinner!
@@TarylFixesAll absolutely! You are more h than welcome!
Taryl I bought 2 chain saws back in 1996 from my local fee market, one was a Clinton saw much bigger than this one. The saw was freaking awesome I got so many comments about them when I was leaving the flee market. The Clinton had a 48 inch bar by 5 inches wide the brass fingers were 4 inches long like I said the saw was awesome. I got it running with minimal effort and it sounded like my Honda CR 250R dirt bike, it had a muffler but sounded like it didn't, like I said saw was awesome lol. The saw weighed 48 pounds a collector in my area said this saw was just set onto the log and it's weight did all the work. I really liked that saw I had no trees to cut but I had to have it I only paid $10.00 for it kept it for years, anyone who saw it in my shed was drawn to it for real. I gave it away 5 years ago to a local guy who collects saws, thanks for the great video it brought back good memories of the Clinton beast I once owned.
Man that's awesome. I looked at that saw in my dad's shop and thought it would never run. I'm impressed.
Bet most of us 55 and older mechanics remember countless times helping someone broken down because of no spark with point ignition. Getting out a pack of matches and cleaning the points with the sandpaper on the pack and gapping them with the matchbook cover. This video was a good reminder of it for me. Both cars and many HD motorcycles. Now solid state and cd ign. much more dependable but you're SO of luck if in the boonies without spare parts. Thankfully we have cell phones. Great video as always, Thank you.
Shawn has the patience of a saint not even sitting but standing through all of what would have been a long production time 😁 thanks for the content
We used those CLINTONs and McCullochs on home built GoKarts 60 years ago. They would tune-up nicely !!
Love those vintage chainsaws.
Yeah, and he thinks he has a piece of shit or in his words 'a piece of fecal matter' 🤦♂️
I’d love to just hangout while Taryl is fixing stuff. Lol
When I was on the farm we had an old Homelite 7-21. This saw had the gear reduction drive and a 1/2" chain on a 36" bar. It was hard to start and keep running but when it ran it was a monster. Cutting logs at the bars max length didn't bog the saw down at all.
When running full speed the chain didn't move very fast, you could almost count the teeth as they went by.
Being such a heavy saw and a bit cantankerous we didn't use it much in the woods but when we skidded logs back to the house we used it for blocking of the logs for firewood. Once you had the saw up on the log you didn't need to rock the saw or help it much to cut. Just hold it enough so it cut straight.
Glad to see you bring it back to life. Sorry I didn't get to see you when I dropped it off. We were on the way to Florida and didn't have a lot of time. Hope you can make a buck with it!!
THANKS for doing that!!
And to think he called it a piece of fecal matter 🤦♂️ he has no idea what he has!
Those two dudes in the background are creeping me out
Man what a Saw! 😁 Its loud, its heavy and no safety feautures but I think I Need one 😁 and Great Clip with Uncle Andy 👍🏻👍🏻
Me too
Random shop bouncer just standing by in case someone bum-rushes the stage during Taryl's Pearl Jam cover.
I love the sound of it. It brings back memories of when I was young when ever it would rain ever kid in the neighborhood would fire up their bikes to go play in the mud.
I love vintage chainsaws and collect them, I have quite a little collection of old saws going, great video Taryl!
Loved the sparks flying out of the exhaust pipe when Taryl gets it full throttle in the air. Things a beast!
Taryl, You need to throw in the womans voice calling you a Hillbilly like in the Stihl chainsaw video.
I think that exhaust horn had some kind of baffle in it originally. Just a piece of metal with a 1/2 to 3/4 inch hole in it.
Nice work Mr. Dactal as always never fails to fire it up.. fire it up.....fire it up.
This is great, my grandfather had a saw like this one. My dad inherited it to use at the cabin but it was way too heavy to be used all day. So he got a Sears chainsaw back in 1970. It was one of those all aluminum yellow bodied saws.. He ran that saw till it wore out, he loved that Sears chainsaw
Another awesome video and i don't even have a saw. Laughed so hard i almost pissed myself. Keep them coming Taryl, i always learn something.
I collect and run the old saws-fun hobby-great video!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love those old beastly chainsaws. Not a turd to me. Get them running good and sharpen the chain, and they'll go through anything. Good for when you got some big stuff to cut through. Wouldn't want to lug it around in the woods too much though. Great video Taryl. 👍👍
Now thats a chainsaw! Well done Taryl I enjoyed it
Good one T! Loved seeing the old Clinton brought back to life!
We love your opening skits! Hollywood's got nothing on you guys!
I love your videos. I laugh most of the way through them.
Great video. Most Clinton machines used tecumseh engines, I owned a few Clinton boat motors and upon researching parts found out tecumseh was the main power head of much of the equipment.
I always use channel locks to rotate a precision ground shaft.
It never damages the plyers like they say it will.....
Not to frighten you or anything, but are you aware that there is a very large man behind you. He is extremely large and has a very slick head. Be careful
My Dad had a Montgomery Wards Chain saw and blades. That thing was a honker! If it's a Clinton; is the bar straight? hahaha Taryl laugh
As always Taryl you did a great job
VERY GOOD VIDEO ! that halloween skit is very good, cheers to Taryl, Junior and all the rest of the guys for making a entertaining video. And working on that old Clinton chain saw, youre the Man Taryl... I mean your the King, wheres your King hat.
That's why people were more fit back then. ;). It would be a real workout to run that all day long!
Love the video!
Very cool Taryl, we have a couple of big old saws from the 1950s a Homelite 5-20. And a
David Bradley both around 125cc.Central California watching.
Hi Tarl love your videos wish youtube was around when I was working using this stuff. I used to use these metal cased saws many years ago & you new you`d done a days work after.Whos the 2 guys in the back ground espiecially the one in the hoodie looked dodgy Lol😂
You always make me laugh.
Your videos are so nice to watch because you always figure it out.
Hope you can reach your goal of just making videos 😊
Chainsaws built out of "Lumnum" metal am cool Taryl. Great video and exciting ending!
Great job Taryl. Great video as well!
you have the singing voice of a cat with its tail caught in a door
😂
You forgot the best part: "Who? Who? Who? Whooo?"
Dad bought us a go kart with a Clinton Panther engine, what a fun fast kart!! Still have it , it was from the early 60s !
Taryl, you do an amazing job on them old chainsaws and stuff. I notice you got a wild look in yore eye when you go to pulling on the starting rope. Is that because you are not confident that it will start? Yore a brave man! I could never start a motor with the camera rolling that way. It's a lot of pressure and I'd always be afraid I would fail. You are the man!
Wow is that podunk lake where you filmed the 6 wheeler? If so that lake dried up quick.
I love this episode
Now that is really a cool old chainsaw, I don't think anyone has shown one that old, have a good day.
Wow it came from south haven mi? That's like a second home to me. Great video as always taryl.
All the best to you fellas! Enjoyed the walk down "turd polishing" lane on that chainsaw. Keep up the "artistic" endeavors! Thanks and enjoyed.
Taryl got them compression testers 👐 🤣
@37:33 Is Slippers in a timeout over in the corner by the garage door?
😂
"BATE SHOP" Hahaha! Right up there with the "SCARP" bin I drove by a couple years ago.
Awesome video thank's
South haven is a stone's throw from where i live in Michigan, i'm right down the road in eau claire. Another great video as always!
but Eau Claire is in Wisconsin, just down the road from Minneapolis
There is an eau claire michigan too
@@jakez8659 I figured that. I was just trolling.
OMG you took the coating off on a new set of points! The world is coming to an end!!!!!! LMAO! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👍🏻👍🏻
Uncle Andy for the win!!! Another great video fellas. 🔥🙌
Man more cool pieces to add to the collection…👍👍
That old vintage chain saw looks like it in pretty good shape like watching you work on on equipment
Nice job 👍 fixing fixing the chainsaw
Great video as always they're back there drinking your beer
Cool old school chainsaw 👍
Awesome video 😃😃😃
LOL, always people standing around awaiting their lines in the video. Good stuff, its a lot of work we appreciate it.
Great Scooby-Doo-esk sketch!
Happy Halloween.
I got your compression tester 🤣🤪😆😅 I'm good for the week hehehehehehe !!!
Great job Taryl
Boy, I used to wish I could sing but now I wished you could !!! LOL🤣
Good job!!
What is up with the background zombies?
23 pounds of al-u-minium... without the bar. That's a lot of beer cans. 🤣
As always, that was fun to watch 👍👍
🤣🤣 Nice way to see it bill 😎👍
@@mortensgarage 😁😁
thanks taryl great video, I thought you were going to play MISSISSIPPI QUEEN with the tapping of that gas tank
Taryl, I have a 1957 Homelite 6-22 saw, its about the same as your Clinton, the 6-22 means 6 hp 22 lbs and it has a 1/2 chain also, 1/2 chains are sought after by antique saw guys.
1959 chainsaw fixed with just a few parts, and now running. The junk they make today will never be around 6 decades later!!!! Man I absolutely love the older power equipment and tool. Built like tanks
I have a 1954 David Bradley saw looks almost identical to that. One of these days I will see about getting it running.
Got in from a day out on Sunday and started doing office work to prep for next week. Took a break to look at youtube at 11:30pm and realized I had forgotten Taryl. Shame on me... Thanks for another greta episode! P.S. - I have felt that "raised edge point" on extremely worn points. That exhaust sound reminds of the McCullough MAC 10. Great saw, but absolutely deafening. Nor real muffler, just a sort of exhaust diverter.
I see the compression gauge hands calibrators in the background. 🤣
Haha so cool allsome work guys from cruzermans inventions 😁👍👌🌟💕
That almost looks like the kind of song my granddaddy had up in Virginia at his sawmill I might have to see if I can find that to see what it is that thing ran good nice video thank you I love it
Thanks!
The Clinton E65 on my go kart when I was a kid was a real screamer
I absolutely love the pond scum part of your video that was really neat anyway Terrel and all you guys have a good day this is Jim mungai again
Good old saw. I hope you get to your goal
Awesome video 📸😎👍
We had one of those when i was a kid. It finally got retired. A few years later i got a hodaka dirt bike that would not run. My dad took the carb off that saw and put it on the dirt bike. I ran real well! Fast!
Time for a wood cutting short.
Happy Halloween, guys! Thanks for sharing.
LOL, my brother-in-law had a CB radio handle "Pond Scum" back in the 90's.
Junto com você aqui do BRASIL. Very good.
Now THAT is a chainsaw!!!
The good old days!
Love this ch hello from edbonjovi aka leak master plumbing
Good job Taryl on polishing that turd. Thanks for all that you do.
looks like you were spinning the flywheel clockwise? love the videos
saw the empty Hamms on the bench, Steve would be proud
🎶when a problem comes along🎶 you must flip it🎶 address that wick🎶 you must flip it🎶 lubricated good Taryl !!
I love the sound affects. Awesome
I know it's not rush but the sawdust all around it makes it look that way everyone I have ever worked on and I never noticed it until now
Reminds me of my homelite super XL 925 and echo CS702VL. Both of them are heavy saws but they have plenty of power and torque. Would love to see how it cuts
sitting at airport terminal waiting for flight, watching Terrell videos!!
