  • Spektrum sent me this new Firma 2-in-1 Brushless Crawler Motor/ESC to show it in action. The install was super simple because it already comes with an IC3 connector installed. The best part about this is that it is space saving to all you to mount other items in the little space you have in chassis. The sensored brushless power is very smooth and quiet. For the price savings over dedicated Motor and ESC options, this is definitely worth looking at.

    Axle skids are a great investment for a non portal rc. It's one of the first things I did to mine. Especially if you have nice housing covers. The stainless helps it slide over obstacles better to. Club-5 have some really good ones.

    I have both this and the hobbywing 2 in 1 fusion. In my opinion the hobbywing is way better as it’s sensor is a lot faster and has no lag like the spektrum has. Also hobbywing includes program card and they are both the same price. All in all I feel the hobbywing blows it away.

      You can flip that tranny too. Easy on an Enduro Sendero/Ecto/Gatekeeper. Might put that weight closer to the over driven gears.

    • @CCxRC
      @CCxRC  Před 2 lety +1

      That is true. But to do that, I'd have to go in the transmission and switch the gears to keep the overdrive to the front as well. I didn't have time for that as I was trying to get up the Crawler Space RC for their comp that night. :) Since I bought a better servo at the comp, I need to get the program card anyway to set the BEC to 7.4V. With that course, I'll probably have to switch to the max overdrive settings I can.

    What a disappointment that it doesn't include a program card. My HW fusion Did include the card. That would keep me from buying the spektrum. I'm also curious if the 2300 model will have any overheating issue due to the higher kv rating. I would think it has a smaller sweet spot .

    this is nice and all, but how does it compare to the hw fusion set in price, size, weight, torque, feel and that kind of stuff. i'd really like to see a hands on comparison video..:)

    • @CCxRC
      @CCxRC  Před 2 lety +1

      Both are $150. Both are 550 size. Dimensions and weight should be listed on websites if you want to compare that. The Hobbywing are 210g and Spektrum are 201g. Both feel like metal motors. Look the same except color schemes. HW come in 1200kv and 1800kv vs Spektrum 1400kv and 2300kv. The biggest difference is the. kV offferings. I didn’t have 2 identical trucks to do a comparison. There are a lot of factors that would change how they make the truck handle. Gear rations, overdrive, tires size, weight, etc.

      This does fit in the VFD. Its shorter than the fusion. The fusion is 64mm and this is 58mm. People have managed to fit the fusion by removing the red cap of the fusion and by trimming down a small plastic tab, however this being 58mm this fits perfect without any modifications. You'll just have to build the transmission around the motor.
