I just actually installed these floors in my first apartment ever, and I thought I'd come back to tell you out of all the videos I watched yours was the most helpful? In terms of you really addressing mistakes and shit that happens. How you explained staggering helped me so much you don't even know dude. For a complete beginner you really going over and explaining what matters, what you'd do differently and what DIDN'T work and why saved my life on this. Thank you sm.
How’d you get past the door issue? I definitely can’t cut the doors in my apartment lmao and I feel like leaving the carpet out on the area in front of the door so it can open might look crazy😭
@@dreamingbig98 Im so sorry to hear that thats been an issue for you - my doors didnt run into that issue, and still open well. But I really pressed the plywood _down_. And my carpet was already kinda flat.
I know im asking the wrong place but does anybody know of a trick to get back into an instagram account??
I was dumb lost the login password. I would love any assistance you can offer me.
@Justice Adriel instablaster :)
@Elliott Evan Thanks so much for your reply. I found the site through google and im waiting for the hacking stuff atm.
Takes a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Dude, That was fantastic. Not only did you teach--you entertained while doing so. I laughed and I learned. You should be proud of the flooring you did AND proud of your vid as well.
OMG! You are being a real man. So happy to see a young man being responsible and not giving up. Yes you can do anything and everything. I hear "I can't " so much from young men. You have bought tears to my eyes. You have a wonderful mother, she knew you could do it and do it right. Kudos to you.
Omg the door …. That was the best part!!! Momma… i thought i cut the door backwards.. i love that you really showed us the mistakes and how you learned from the trial and error! Great video!!!
Well done son! You had me laughing so hard (especially when you thought you messed with the door), that I thought my 73 year old heart would resign. Your mom must be a very proud lady.
This is the BEST video on how to lay hardwood on top of carpet. You told us what not to do and the lessons you learned. I know your mama is super proud.
To be honest this is one of the most detailed installation videos I've personally seen, not many people discuss mistakes and just try to make it look clean, this is way better. Thanks so much.
RIGHT!!!!!!!
Really enjoyed your honesty and authenticity. Was laughing with you when you described how many times you had to re-do the floors.
Thanks so much for this tutorial!
I'm doing this in our new rent house (it is ALL old ass carpet😭), and this is so helpful. It's so nice seeing people like me who don't have a ton of experience with this stuff share both their successes and failures in a project like this. Thank you!!!!🙏🏼
I’m a visual learner so the diagram really helped while you were explaining! Thanks for that. ☺️
I could FEEL your frustration but you brought up stuff I never would have considered. I really want to do this in my apartment living room to cover the old carpet the owners don't want to replace. Thank you for all the tips and tricks and sharing the truths you discovered the hard way. Other vids make it look too easy. So glad I saved this video for future reference if I ever do install a floating floor. The upside down door was hysterical and totally something I would probably do for real!
You have no idea how much i loved this! Thank you so much! 💛
love you, the salty language, all the nit pickey details you worried over, and your mamma. Well done, and well said. You give me inspiration, and confidence. THX DUDE
Thank you here to help !
I just pulled up my carpet in two rooms and I'm going to try putting down wood flooring. I've been researching for years now and really appreciate you explaining your trials and errors. The only difference is I'm installing mine under the carpet which already has plywood. And I'm going to use the Miter snips for the quarter round instead of the saw. And I purchased a tool for cutting the corners. You did a good job for a beginner 👌🏾
Oh wow... a lazy mans work is twice as hard... thank you for the quote lol
This was really helpful. Planning on doing this in my rental apartment. Thank you for showing the struggle! I’m sure you’ve saved me a few headaches.
THIS IS THE BEST VIDEO!!! Also, shout out to your mom! Her feedback made the final product incredible!!
That was great and so honest. Doing this myself today! Thanks from Australia man.
Look to fix mine too from sydney australia
How’d it go?
Very well thanks for asking. They fit exactly. I have quite thick carpet and underlay so I laid the panels on 3mm MDF, which does give a little under foot, but no problem. 5mm would be more solid. Would make a good dance floor!
@@debiddoki7755 awesome!! I’m glad to hear it went well. If you don’t mind me asking what does “MDF” mean? I apologize for the question, I’m new to this 😅
@@notanotherone5564 MDF means medium density fibreboard.
Your a proper funny guy, you're mum has a great kid on her hands. You should have your own show.
This was what I was thinking of doing! I'm glas the plywood works, i was worried it would be too wobbly. I'm in an apartment so i can't alter the door, I'll have to work around it.
Thank you for putting all your work into a good lesson for others!
Young Blood, i know this video is over a year old. Much Props from Hawaii. I just stumbled on your video because i too will be doing a larger project/scale in the upcoming months. I can see you were so fresh out the boat regarding how to lay wooden floor and the adventure you endured. How proud i am for you because.....YOU LEARNED HOW TO ENGAGE, to overcome a totally brand-new experience, never did it, through trial and error, mistakes are the greatest teachers. Funny, back in the day, my dad taught me years ago, "Measure twice cut once", and for me im all about sports, football and wrestling, and i didnt want to learning nothing other to than to get better in sports, but slowly as i started to watch my dad growing up, he tried to repair everything, trying to get me engaged..my dad was the parent," we dont need Big Macs, just give him some wonder bread, and hell do a better big mac."
I love your quote, "A LAZY MAN WORK IS TWICE AS HARD." Right now, my son is 12yrs old and i am slowly teaching him to figure out things, get his mind and hands engaged. Your video will be with me forever because as much as you critiqued, as much as you related, you "Hope this video helps?" I promise you Floyd, it has and it will...Listen...the accomplish feeling of you completed..."Beginning Middle and End"...I tell that to my kids...,"Dont just focus on the Project but the Prep, the Project itself and then the END," The door cutting, the cleaning...hahahahah just loving it, upside door and all...Grateful Uso("Brother" in Samoan) you took the time to go through Hell and Back with this Unedited/edited video for the beginners and old G like myself to see your growth and appreciate another Nubian King growing mentally and physically...Hahaha God Bless Floyd....
And I died when you had the door upside you was so lost 😂
Loved how you listed all the tools you need! As someone who doesn't doo woodwork, I've been looking for this everywhere :D
lol So many laughs my husband had with you and your mama. Mamas bring out excellence in us all. Great video and details.
Lmao you looked so sad when you thought the door was wrong 😂😂😂. Thanks for this video, going to help a lot
This video was really helpful. Saved me potential time going through trial and error 😅
I watched every mfn ad you had on this video as a token of my appreciation for this honest and detailed video. Thanks so much for making this!!
That tiny scream when the door hit you 🤣 Good job tho they look amazing👏🏽
This is by far one of the most helpful videos I’ve ever seen.
I literally died when you held the door all the way up there 😂😂 and it was just upside down 😂 this video was a 10/10 for me ~very informative 🙌
Thank you for helping so many people with this video. I know the struggle was real but out here saving lives bro!
Excellent job! you are right! everybody else's video makes it look easy...yours in the best..imma hire someone..not gonna touch my floors...thank you!!! 🦋❤️
Impressive. Admire your determination and creative spirit and it looks great.
Thank you for the break down! You're right, now one else explained it so well. Great work!
Its the cursing for me I love it... makes it so relatable in my head I was like this shit here man
I cried at the upside down door than it fell
Thank you for breaking down this install! I appreciate the way you took the time to explain the DOS and DON'TS as well as the tools needed to execute this type of project. I am starting my install tomorrow and funny thing is my room is also shaped like yours lol ..Turning my Den into a hair salon! OMG I died laughing at the end with the door being upside down!!! 😂😂 Thank you for sharing and not editing that part out. You're video is by far the best I have found to explain how to install floor over carpet!! Peace
Hey luv how did it go for you especially with the saw? That’s the part I’m nervous about
Great job and thank you for the video. We are about to do this and don't want to rip up the carpet.
Thank you so much for showing us all the mistakes and solutions! Definitely is helping me prepare and know exactly what to expect. :)
😂🙌🏽 I’m impressed man haha I was thinking of doing this but I don’t think ima make it all the way through 😂😂
This was such a great video!! You did an amazing job. Like others said, you sharing your mistakes really helped me make sense of everything! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Great video! You remind me of my son and he would say your mother reminds him of me. It’s cute how you want to prove to your mom that you could do it right. Want to do this in my daughter’s condo since there are restrictions for 2nd floor units - have to keep the carpeting (unfortunately). Thanks for sharing 😊
The visual on the staggering explanation helped SO much.
I feel your pain bru!! :) done alot of these diy projects and your efforts are much appreciated - the little in screen graphic was actually a really good way to visualize the staggering concept for people :)
This was educational and funny….when you were putting the door back up I was in tears…you did such a great job
Carpet comes up easy, you should never put hardwood over carpet. This on the other hand is not hardwood, this is a floating laminate floor. It looks like you learned quite a bit from this experience. All in all you did a good job and you can be proud of your work. Thanks for sharing.
My friend. A it was great and informative. B. You grew on me and loved your personality and energy and honesty.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I love how you explain that already new to stagger I just didn't know to do full, half and then half of a 1/2
Not complicated at all you explained it very well. It makes sense in my eyes. Glad I saw this because when I install my own floor I will know the trick
Thank you for explaining the staggered pattern!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥BROOOO 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽THANK YOU!!! I’m moving into. An apartment and I’m looking into doing it but thanks to you I feel well equipped to do so!!!
Using your keyboard to hold down the wood while you cut feels like something I would do too. This whole video is super real, man
I'm about to try this so my kids & I can have our kitchen table without carpet🤞 Really appreciated the specifics 💟
ADD proof 😅
PS: Needing your Mom's reaction!!!
Awww I forgot to get my moms reaction but she’s still impressed to this day !
Very well explained! Thank you for the video! Very useful! Going to rewatch it again before starting my work. Good job!!!
Thankyou very much for taking the time to record, explain and upload to help us out. Thanks for your hard work
I had did mine about 8 months ago thinking it was gonna be easy. I started off just like you I didn’t stagger. Once it’s done it’s beautiful. We had a living room off the kitchen that was carpet. ugghhh!!! The dishwasher pipe broke and leaked through the carpet and the pile wood and of course we had to take it up. Before that it was soo beautiful
I loved this video thank you so much, it has given me a lot of tips to install the plank flooring
That door at the end… I’m dying!😂 great video🙂
Sweet video bro they came out great. I loved that little gem you dropped at 11:40 “a lazy mans work is twice as hard” absolutely facts
Nice job all the way around Buddy 👍🏿
This helped me decide to do the same thing thank you.
You should be proud of yourself, you saw it through. Thanks for sharing. This is way too much for me to do. Your floor came out great.
You snapped I’m definitely doing this
This is a great video! Thanks for sharing and explaining every step of the way.
Now that it has been a few months, how does it look? Feel? I thought we had to remove the carpet.
You explained it very well the staggered part thanks
Bro,,,, that door part at the end had my crying 😂😂... But you did a great job. Thinking about doing my studio like this.
Hey thank you so much for making this video
I haven't tried it yet but this is extremely helpful
Glad it was helpful!
This is super impressive like- hell ya 🙌🏽💪🏽🥂

Great Job
Haha this was great man I learned something too. Nice vid
Omg our so funny and this video was awesome and so realistic. I needed this lol. Thank you
Dude.. Painful listening to your learning curve but great job... thanks for sharing.. I learn a lot from your lessons..
Lmboo don't be getting mad at that puppy 10:47 🤣🤣🤣 omg this video was hilarious I was cracking up the whole time
Lol. I just found your video and I have to say you did good. If you ever happen to do this again. Start at your longest wall first it helps a lot. And this is big one READ THE MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS!!! 🤣🤣Those will help you as well. 🤣🤣🤣 You did an awesome job though. I think I would have given up by day 2. I went for the peel and stick planks and tiles easy and quick. Lol. Good job handsome.
Man I am so nervous I want to do this with my loft I really need to relax myself and find peace before I even try to start it cause I will probably go insane 😂 but just wanted to say you did such a good job! Congrats! It looks amazing!!!
OMG I never have laughed so hard in my life. Especially when you just left the door standing and trying to walk out. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
This is very entertaining to watch
Wow this is the one. I found the perfect video for laminate over carpet. Thank you so much. We learned so much. I’ve seen some people use spacers at the corners. Is this necessary?
😂 I laughed out loud watching this video. Love it. I'm going to try it!!
Please do!
This video is so perfect 😅
Lucky mom to have son like you!
great video--so informative ❤❤❤❤❤
Glad it was helpful!
Im about to get supplies and do my boutique that I am renting. thank you for the video. lol I thought I was the only one who was think about putting hardwoord floors over carpet 😭🤣🤦🏾♀️ I see I am not alone lol
Hey luv how did it go? I have suite too
how would you go about removing it without damaging the boards? i wanna do this in my apartment but i’m worried about taking it down and out
It’d be great if you can do an update! Some people under other videos had concern about mold and I’d be doing this in an apartment😬
Awwww dude I feel your pain. I'm sure you'd be the first to admit that a lot of the problems were self made. The staggering while it turned out good there is a method to ensure even layout. You count how many full planks go along the starting wall. The gap at the end, you then add half the gap again and saw the total off the first plank. This makes sure the pieces at the beginning and end are the same size so don't become too small and thus not as strong if walked on or furniture legs on it. Also a great start for the brick pattern staggering effect. The paper method again good but a cheap more stable method is to use a floor depth gauge. This follows every detail of any obstacles which you lock in place then use as you did with the paper to draw the markings onto the plank. Onto the dreaded edging for corners. You can indeed rent a mitre saw. Or buy for a much cheaper cost tool. Something called a mitres block. Made of hard plastic with angles already marked into it. Simply lay the edge in between and cut using the pre made guide slots.
I take my hat off to you. A Job well done at a young age and first project. Great video detailing many common problems and I'm sure a huge learning curve for yourself. You have my respect.
noticed you're wearing a tsurag. Do you prefer that over a durag?
Thank you!
I love thisssssss
I have been wanting to do this forever, I thought I was the only one that wanted to put hard wood on carpet😂❣️🤟🏼👏
Adore your perseverance and attitude to aspire for perfection and not accept sub standard outcome. You made your mom proud!! I can completely relate to all these challenges and learning stress as DIY. Great Job!!
your rooms dimension are damn near the exact same as mine with the weird cut corner and everything. im about to try this lol
Thank you SO much, I'm planning on doing this to a room in my new apartment but I didn't know jack shit about it until you explained it so clearly 😭🙏🏻
"Oh Thank Jesus" 😂🤣👌🏽
Thank you Pretty Boy Floyd :)
