😀Hey Guys! We just posted How to Install Vinyl Plank Flooring DIY - Carpet to Planks in 7 Steps czcams.com/video/FmhsQ-dpn00/video.html Take a look👀.
Thank you!
The couple who DIY together stay together 🙏
Oh my, after hours and hours of searching through videos. Finally, I've found some clear, and concise instructions for our diy project. Thank you both!!
You're welcome! 🤗
Thank you! I’m 67 years old but still lots of spunk left. Y’all were excellent explaining things. I feel confident I can do it myself!
Thank you, Kathi! You really can do it. 😀
Should've sprayed the underlayment with light water spray to prevent fibers floating
That's a great tip! Thanks for sharing 🙂
Thanks for the tip, Twistedone!
Stopping mid-job to tell you guys how helpful your video was. Thank you so much! It gave me the motivation to get to work. ❤️
Appreciate you, J Df! 😃
Oh my goodness. I am 69 years old and after viewing your video I realize that pulling up the carpeting in the bedroom was a lot easier that I could ever imagine. I got started on it. Thank you so very very much for posting this. Do it yourself video
My husband & I have been talking about pulling up our carpet & putting down wood floors. I'm so glad I found your channel! This video has been such a big help! Thank you! Keep the DIY's coming! ☀️
Glad to help you guys! 😃
Thanks for showing and explaining this process and tips to protect myself! I have severe Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and am alone. This will really help me plan a good way to do it. I was thinking of getting a rolling stool for furniture painting and I think Ill get one for this project to roll along after I get the first strip up and to pull up the tack strips as well. Slow and steady with a great plan wins the race!
You two work well together. You have inspired me to finally taking out my bedroom carpet!
I love how you cut and rolled it into sections! I’m doing this by myself this Saturday. Thanks for your video!
I usually never comment on videos to give any recognition lol BUT thank you lovely couple for this. My fiancé and I are first time homebuyers and we are new to a lot of this whole remodeling thing.. well (mostly me). So this will be our first assignment for the interior of the home. 😊
Monica, Thank you for commenting. We know that you will do a great job. If things don't turn out the way you want...feel free to ask us questions. 😊✨
I like that you cut the carpet on the underside. This prevents any chance of cutting into the wood floor. I am going to follow your lead. Thanks for the video.
Thank you very much for this detailed instruction about taking up old carpet. I have been having problems with allergies to dust. I realized recently that the old carpeting in my condo has to go. I have never taken up old carpet before. Your instructions really are helpful. Grateful to both of you!
Glad to help Paula! We enjoy being carpet free and you will too! 😊
What a joyful, good looking and talented couple. Thank you!
This video was so informative taking me through the whole process in detail. I’m hoping that after watching this video, my husband will be on board with replacing the carpet sooner than later. You two are truly a power couple!
Thank you so much! If you guys work together and take your time, it is easier than you think. 🤗
Finally found you guys again! The algorithm brought me back . Subbed and we’re literally using your videos as a template! This is great !!!

Lakisha, thank you for the "anticipation" comment. What do you want to learn from the video?
This video gave me confidence to do the project in my daughter’s room. With the help from my 9 yr old boy and 12 yr old daughter. They said it’s the best quality time. 😂 Thank you for your video!!
It really is quality time. Make sure you take pictures with them to cherish the moment. Best, -DIYPC 😃✨

Hey my favorite DIY couple, I love how you guys work together on home projects! Great tips on removing the carpet. I also like how you guys use kneepads. That’s something that I need to get.
J, we hope all is well. We found that using that particular kind of knee pad really helped our knees. Check out the link for them in the description. You can use them for all kinds of projects. Happy 2022 -DIYPC 😃
You're a real neat couple, kudos to your great team work. My wife and I are going to use this video as a resource for our upcoming project :)

Thanks Latrice! 🤗
So glad to see this vid from you guys!! I definitely subscribed and saved tons of your awesome DIY vids!! My husband and I will be pulling up the very old carpet in our master bedroom very soon!! We're not putting down new carpet...We're doing floor tile!!
Welcome to the DIYPC Family! 🤗 If you are going to DIY plank flooring in your bedroom, our upcoming flooring video can help.
Thank you for the very informative and educational carpet removal video! Cutting the carpet into chunks and rolling and taping has made disposal so much easier! I'm removing carpet from a 1950's home and there's hard wood underneath the carpet. Since I can't do a room at a time, I'm taking out the tack strips but leaving the carpet and pad. I'm just doing small sections at a time for each step. I've found that I can take out the tack strips and nails and let the carpet re-cover the edges until I have time to cut and pull the carpet. Then I am tackling the pad and staples last.
You're welcome, Jean!
I will wear a mask ☺♥☺
you guys are so cute! 🥰 thanks for the help!
Oooooo that carpet look like mine in this apartment,i cant wait to lay some vinyl. Yes it will make this place look better.
Edwina, vinyl planks will definitely make it look better.
Thank you 🙏
Thanks for sharing! I like the idea of cutting the carpet into sections and rolling it up to discard.
As an allergy sufferer, 4:00 is good to know!
You're welcome, Renee!
U guys r awesome...... great team...& To the point !
Thank you, dco!!!
Whoa! That looks like a pretty good carpet you pulled up there! 🥺
Donna, it had to go. Out with the old, in with the new 🆕! This flooring is much better. -DIYPC 😃✨
Not easy, but it is simple and straightforward 😀
New sub. Great video, thank you. You both are amazing hoping to do this project with the hubby.
Thanks! Welcome to the DIYPC Family!🤗

You're welcome, Monique! -DIYPC 😃✨
Thank you ✊🏾
We got you ✊🏾
About to do this on the weekend. Wish me luck!
You can do it!
Nice work 👏
Thank you, Vickie!
I just pull up some carpet cutting it up in sections helped so much since I didn't have no help I still have more to go I have to get a scraper all those lose underlayment pieces are on the floor
Harlem, trust us...we understand. Seems like you are really doing things over there. Rooting for you. -DIYPC 😃
Great video
Thank you, Solar God. -DIYPC 😃
By did you choose hardwood over carpet
"Yeah we double-teamed it"
I need to remove our carpet it’s disgusting. Thank you.
Spade shovels work good for tack strips, too 🤷🏽♂️
Great tip. Thanks Matt!
Thanks for the video because I was going to do this all the way wrong 😅😅😅😅🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Thank you both again! My wife was surprised at how fast I was pulling our carpet up 👍🏾
omg you guys are so awesome and cute. Tag Team!!!!
Thank you Elmo!!!!
This why I don't trip on labor fees...people should get compensated good for these jobs - that is alot of work!! As long as its done correct- I prefer to pay for the convenience of not having do DIY.😊
Thank goodness there are always options.
Great video !! Thank you so much! Is that a concrete floor or cement backer board sub floor that you all have ? Thank you !!
Thank you DL. We have a concrete subfloor. You're welcome!
I’ve had all this carpet underlayment tack strip In the first 10 minutes spent the rest of it in the other bedroom with my wife what time these two got done
Alright I’m subscribed and diving in 😮 Wish me luck
Welcome to the DIYPC Family!🤗 Good Luck!!
@@DIYPowerCouple the removal went fab this lvt not So much lol y’all’s instructions are great but my hard head is ignoring my Un level floors and it’s whooping me with this thin click lock 😡 I purchased on a great deal
Can you include the price of carpet and the store you are buying it? Thanks
nice
😊
Multi oscillating tool cuts the carpet & pad into strips like u doing no pulling then I used the scrapper head to pop the staples up and carpet tack
Sarah, thanks for the great tip!!!!
After removing the carpet, what is the substance of the floor on the bottom there? Concrete slab?
It's a concrete slab.😊
What was the name of the scraper? Or what do y’all suggest to remove staples? I pulled up carpet from my walk in closet and installed peel and stick vinyl planks. My biggest challenge was there were so many construction staples in the subfloor. They tore my knuckles up…using a staple remover…don’t judge. I worked with what I had…lol! I’m ready to tackle my room.
Nat, we have seen people use regular pliers to remove staples. We would probably use long nose pliers. No judgement. The scraper is a long handle scraper. We have a link to all of the tools we used in the description. Hope this helps...and thank you for watching! -DIYPC 😃
I purchased the more expensive Bosch multi tool and it would not cut through the carpet. I am using the correct attachment. Why is it not working?
When using the multi tool, you have to push into the teeth (not from the side). We learned that using a sharp razor on a utility knife (on the backside of the carpet) works best. Let us know if it works for you as well. -DIYPC 😃✨
How do you remove the metal strip that is usually between the carpet and vinyl areas
Shashgo, we used a pry bar and hammer 🔨 remove the metal strip in the threshold. Hope this helps. -DIYPC ✨
@@DIYPowerCouple thx
Thanks for showing it and not just 10x speed🤦🏼♂️
How long would you say this took?
A couple of hours if you are not filming 😂
I wonder how much this would save us by pulling up carpet before getting professional's to lay laminate?🤔
If they charge for pulling up as well as laying down, it could cost more. You could ask if the price is different for laying down (installation) only. We're hoping for the best for you! -DIYPC 😃✨
But where is all your furniture? That is going to by my most difficult issue. I won't be able to move some of the heavy stuff nor store it.
Really - you don't have to remove the baseboards??
Reggie, No. You don't have to remove the baseboards to remove your carpet. Hope this gives you some relief. -DIYPC😀✨
@@DIYPowerCouple Thanks! Still trying to get up the nerve to do this - I jumped the gun and bought some tiles - now having trouble finding someone to install them. Everyone wants to take me to the cleaners.
Well, guess you will have to DIY! 😃
You saved like 50$ lol and Whoever ripped it out if you would’ve paid would’ve taken the scrap also and you received a bunch of time Chaim is everything
Tank talk, keeping $50 bucks in house, learning a new skill and letting the trashman take it...is always good. 😃
That looked a nice carpet! I have concrete floors and would have loved that ha ha! It’s ok I’m in england!
Patricia, trust us...it had to go. Our new floors look so much better. Always nice to talk to our friends in England!🇬🇧
-DIYPC 😃✨
Buen video los felicito, gracias por su esfuerzo. Me estoy subscribiendo a su canal para apoyarlos...
